But it's reported that the programmers in exploitation of nba series are all newbies!

NBA Live 2004 and 2005 are my favourites by a long shot.

What I truely miss in both games is NBA Live 98 interface. Imho, it was the best NBA Live interface ever, not only that, it was one of my favourite interfaces of any game, and I've played a lot of games since then.

I still play NBA Live 2005 in my Xbox, wich is extremely odd. :o

You're right the Live 98 interface is great. I re-installed it on my PC a few weeks back and it is ALOT better than what's come out since.

i personally think live 2005 and 95 and 98 have been the best in the series....the worse int he series by far is live 2001the ps2 version.....ive seen good reviews of 2001 for the ps1 and i havent tried it on that platform so ic ant judge but as far as the ps2 it was a HORRIBLE game and absolutely unrealistic and bug filled.... io dont think 2003 was the best in the series ..but it also isnt the worse for a number of reason...first off the game is simply revolutionary....as bad a simulation as it was noone can deny the revolution that was started with the freestyle controls...i mean honestly since the disaster that was 2001 nba 2k had been putting out the best product as far as basketball is concerned...nba 2k 2k2 and 2k3 were classics...and if u deny that u are a fanboy no questions asked...as sooon as i experienced those 2k games i had to immediately switch over... in 2003 2k dropped their best effort ever and in my opinion that is to thid day the best basketball game out there... but live defintly is on the right track to quickly taking back that title...and it all started with 2003...even though that was the game that gave live its arcadey reputation no one can deny that live would not be thje great game it is today without 2003...so it is a classic in its own special way....but nonetheless it wasa bad game....in 2004 they took a step in the right direction but there were some unbalanced things in that game such as the hopstep and the graphics were ages behind 2k's graphics at the time....enter nba live 2005...i played 2k for most of the year because when i initially tried live 2005 i wasnt impressed...however that was mostly because my brother cheesed me into not liking the game ...i stuck with 2k5 even though that probably ranks among the top 10 worst basketball games....as good as it looks trust me its a bug ridden cheese filled peice of shit....so after going through the nokia tournament and being cheesed out of it i was too disgusted with the game to play anymore and i decided to give live one more chance....i have not looked back since...live 2005 is a GREAT game with a few unbalanced features...such as the blocking etc...and this game just shows how close live is to being as good or better then 2k3 was....the 2k series has taken a hard fall and are just now turning back to the right direction....2k6 is going to be a good game....but live is the one that is now 2 steps ahead of the game..if live executes certain things correctly i assure you that live 06 wil be the best basketball game of this generation... and it doesnt hurt that it comes with a classic like live 95 in the package...so in order the best lives in my opinion will be live 2006, live 95&96, and live 2005...2005 and 2006 are just proof of how revolutionary the freestyle controls are and of how much potential they had when introduced in 2003

Live 2000 was the best at its time than any other version-year at its time, imo. I enjoyed 2004 a lot more than 2005, where 2005 just got ridiculous with bad animations, bad gameflow, bad passing, and ridiculous fucking blocks. What's worse is that Live 06 looks like Live 2005 on steroids.

i never played live 2004 so i cant judge..but from what i heard it had an overly powerful hp step and the graphics were just plain bad...i definitly saw the graphics and i can definitly say they were horrible compared to 2k but never actually experienced the gameplay...as for 2005 yea it had its unbalanced things here andf there such as the blocks...the passing wasnt ever anything excitingand the gameflow was perfect until a defender totally stops ur fastbreak but other then those problems it was a great game...i mean i appreciate it simply because i know that just by fixing those problems EA is on track to making the best basketball sim on the market... ive been a fan of 2k games up until their last two disasters they call games...but i have transferred to live becausde 06 is just gonna be the illest shit...the graphics are better ...and yes it looks like a way better version of 2005 but i dunno about yall but i definitly dont have a problem with that.. the graphics look great animations are way smoother and the gameplay is definitly seeing some big changes that should balance it out...add in the new dynasty features, the new additions to all star weekend and etc and i think this will be the best ball game since nba2k3

I didn't care for NBA Live 98's interface compared to the more traditional styles of NBA Live 95-97 and 99-2001 but I agree it was better than the console-orientated UI currently being utilised.

Anything is better than the console utilised version of the UI... If you know EA games, you should have a look at NHL 2003! Now that's a user interface, atleast on the PC. That was something that was just weird and wicked. You basically didn't have to go through any menus or anything if you didn't want to change something big or anything.

For example, say you got a player injured during the last game, you return to the UI and there are shown basically all the stats from the game and you have a few tabs, of which one is the status of your team, and there you see that a player A got injured for 3 weeks, and you have direct link to the "Edit lines" feature. Or say that you got a trade offer, it would seen within the tabs as well and there would be a "review trade" option and an "answer" option right there... Review trade would take you to the trade screen, don't remember if you could change the trade or not, but my point is, you didn't have to go through gazillion screens to see what was going on. There were also league boards shown on the main screen so that you could see the standings on the main screens. Also the player scoreboard was there and you could suffle it, so that it showed who's scored the most goals, or assists or points or penalty minutes.

Andrew, if you got NHL 2003, pop it in and check out the UI and get back to me on what you think... As an Aussie, you probably don't have it, but it was absolutely the BEST UI I've ever seen in an EASports title. They've screwed it up after that and now it's a total piece of console sheit, the same as NBA Live series... NHL 2003 interface, if some of you know it, please respond... Wasn't it just perfect... Anything and everything was right there at your fingertips... You didn't have to go through screen after screen just to change your line up or respond to a trade offer or to see how you are doing in the league standings. In Live 2005, well first off, you have to back off from the calendar, go to "My NBA Live" and then click on the "League standings" and the scroll the hell out of the list so you could actually find your team... It is just horrible...

NHL 2003 PC version interface, I want that one!

I've never played the NHL series Metsis, but I'll take your word for it.

In all fairness, NBA Live's UI is fine as far as consoles are concerned, though there could still be less back and forth. But it's the little things, like assigning a college to a created player or editing ratings, that can be made much quicker on the PC version if we've got a slider we can click and drag (or click along the bar to make it jump up 5, 10 points at a time), not to mention pop-up/drop-down selection menus.

Okay, I did some digging and found the franchise main view from NHL 2003...

Check out the page...

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sports/nhl20 ... ml?page=22

Wish they could do something with even half as much info to their next games, but I guess they are set on triple-clicking-something before getting any information from anything.

For example, from the opposing teams tab you could see who's injured, who's on a hot streak and who's on a cold streak. Who are their top point scorers and their total record. In NBA Live 2005, you have to check like 4 or 5 pages to get all that information...

And as I said the player scoring table and the standings table is right there... Visible on the main screen!

It was incredible how they got it so mixed up for NHL 2004 and how the NHL 2005 was designed for console users without giving another though to PC players...

Yeah, the interface from NHL 2003 would be really great, but don't count on anything as sweet as that... I mean the UI in NHL series has gone far south after the release of 2003, and it's a total piece of sheit in NHL 2005...

I don't know what happened there, but it's just horrible. NHL 2003 was such a pleasure to play with. Don't get me wrong... The actual gameplay is the stuff that really matters, but the user interface matters almost as much. The UI needs to be sweet and everything needs to be accessible from the main screen and not 15 clicks away...

Why the hell hasn't EA recognized the brilliance of the NHL 2003 interface? I will have to look up for some console reviews and see what they have to say about the UI on the consoles and see some pics if it was the same or not.

They took a master piece and replaced it with a five-year-olds day care picture. It's like taking Mona Lisa and replacing it with a picture of a stick figure!

To be honest that design is good enough to just be left like that untouched for the next 5 games or so. They really dropped the ball there (N)

LOL, u thought 04 was better than 05?!? In 04 you could "pro-hop" right through any number of defenders and get an uncontested dunk EVERYTIME. maybe 04 was faster paced arcade style play but 05 is definately more true to the game.

NBA Live 04 has a idiotic problem in the offseason. AWESOME free-agents that don't get signed in the regular offseason can be signed for nothing. That unbalances the dynasty teams...for example my team has all-stars and lottery rookies. The bench is better than most starting lineups.

Depends. I enjoyed 2004 more than 2005 because I was so incredibly frustrated with the slow passing and terrible animations. It just took the realism and the fun out of the game. Not saying 2004 was more realistic than 2005, but at least it was more of an enjoyable experience for me.
