Problems Creating A Game In DIRECT CONNECT Mode With LINKSYS

Postby Jace1 on Sun Mar 16, 2003 8:36 am

Sup people... I have a problem, lemme know if you can help :)

I've always been able to join a game in DIRECT CONNECT online play, but I can't seem to host one myself. I've already enabled DMZ mode in my router settings, but I still get no love.

Can somebody toss me a bone here?

A few suggestions

If you are running Win XP with the Linksys router you should:

1. Make sure XP's firewall isn't enabled.
2. If all else fails reset the router.

I had the same issue playing madden but reseting the router accepting all the defaults then setting up a dmz zone worked for me.

Another issue, if two or more PC's are connected to that router and they are set to automatically grab an ip you're going to have problems i.e. you set the dmz zone for one ip (i.e. .1) but once you turn you pc off the next pc turned on will many times (not always) grab that ip so when you turn on yours you get .2 but the dmz is set for .1. You might want to hard code the ip's if that is your problem so each pc will keep the same ip address.

I have 4 pc's on a Linksys router and having any of the other 3 three on will slow my gaming speed.

I recommend going to www.dslreports.com and checking there for registry edits that will increase the speed while reducing packet loss.

I hope this helps
