Postby kyleisnothappy on Sun Nov 17, 2002 7:42 pm

i installed it last night and when it finishes it will automatically run right but it just freezes on a black screen and doesn't startup! I think that this is because i don't have a video card my video is only shared with my memory.. is it required that i should buy 1 and pls tell me what kind should i buy my specs are:
CPU : 667 mhz
mem: 248 ( supposedly 256 bec of the 8 mb share it's down to 248)
OS: win 98 ( do you think i should upgrade to xp?)
dX: directx 8.1 :D

For decent performance you really need a 3d card with 32 MB. Your on-board/8 MB set up just doesn't have enough power for the game I'm afraid.

Don't buy ATI, 'cause I had a onboard video card too, and those ATI series didn't work at all, so I bought PNY's.

just to be sure...

buy a 3d video card then download the latest driver for it. also, try shifting to xp, but that is if your cpu's a pentium III or higher or you'll experience the same problem.

PS: how do u attach an image in here?

I hope you don't learn how to attach images...because I have the feeling we'll have yet another gigantic worthless image to download like ningtong88's there...

kyleisnothappy, i think i'm having the same problem like you do but in my case, after i installed the game and tried to run it, the background turns white then an error message saying "nba2003 has caused an error on nba2003.exe" and i don't know what seems to be the problem.

i also have an onboard video card which is shared to my memory (SIS 630) and i tried updating the drivers od video card, sound card and agp drivers but still mo success in running the game.

my dad's pc was almost the same with mine but it differs in video card which is mine is onboard and his is not and i can run the game in his pc so i think that seems to be the problem...does anybody know what i should do to run the game in my pc? thanks!

Kyro II, Kyro PowerVR 3, Matrox G400, Matrox G450, Matrox G550, Matrox
Parhelia, nVidia Riva TNT, nVidia Riva TNT 2/M64/Pro/Ultra, nVidia GeForce,
nVidia GeForce 2/MX/GTS/Ultra/Ti, nVidia GeForce 3/Ti,

so that means you have to buy a new video card just to run live 2003?

btw, does nVidia GeForce 4/MX/Ti the same with other GeForce 4 Ti? my dad is planning to assemble a P$ pc with a video card of if im not mistaken Asustek GeForce 4 Ti440 128mb...are these two brands the same? coz i want to know if the video card me are planning to buy will be supported by the game...thanks!

hmm...

Postby francis820 on Tue Nov 19, 2002 12:23 am

jey-em, please look for threads like "Anyone has the same problem?" saka "So I just blew 180 bucks?" under the General Issues.

Another thing, GeForce 4 Ti is a variant of the GeForce 4 video card series. Obviously the other is the MX. So it means all GeForce 4 models are supported by Live'03, no prob whatsoever. I just don't know what's the difference between the two but basically that's just it. Naglalaway nga ko sa yo kc 128 MB yang video card na yan eh (sa'kin 32 MB lang). Now that shouldn't give you problems with the game. Just make sure you also have 256 MB RAM (preferably DDR) and just in case, Windows XP. Forget the processor, kahit pentium III gagana yan... mine does!

thanks for the advice francis! i really don't know yet when will our P$ be assembled...my uncle already have the list of the parts he needs to buy and as far as i can remember i told him to put GeForce 4 ti4400 128mb but it's too expensive! i can't remember though how much it is but i hope that's the video card he'll be getting for us...he's just waiting for my dad to transfer the money to his account so he could buy the parts na...

about the memory, i think he just listed 128mb and i don't know what type mo memory is that...but i hope he'll buy the top of the line memory so there wouldn't be any problem...btw, was is it advisable to use windows xp? i haven't tried it yet or seen it so i don't know if it's worth to install it...what do u think? i'm using windows me now and so far, i've been experiencing some problems like hanging and other stuff...does xp have the same problem? is xo better than win me? also i'm thinking that using windows xp might cause other programs and softwares not to function correctly...what do u think?

again, thanks for the advise! peace bro!

mga naglabasan ang pinoy...

Postby francis820 on Tue Nov 19, 2002 11:45 am

jey-em, sabi nila ang xp kc mas mataas ang frames per second allowance kesa sa winME kaya smoother ang graphics at pushed to the limits ang video RAM mo. ME rin gamit ko and i haven't seen much problems so far.

since i suppose mga hindi orig ang mga copies natin ng nba live, pag me error sa installation or execution, balik nyo na lang sa binilhan nyo kc may mga retailers jan na palpak ang pag-copy ng programs. pwede naman yun eh. i had the same experience before until i found a retailer na ok ang cds nila. since then sa kanila na ko bumibili ng software. so ron, siguro sa ibang tindahan ka na lang kumuha ng live'03. papalitan mo na lang yan ng ibang games.
