spurs - what a tough defense team  too bad the pistons beat hem with their own defense 8-)

fred jones starting at shooting guard  ?!?!?!?!?!
good win against them keep it up

Yea I try to update as much as I can and the reason why Jones starting at SG is because they have both Jackson and Artest at SF instead of one of them at SG which I don't really like because Jackson would start over Jones anyday. There's a chance I might update today and I might not because today is Father's Day and I'm just coming back from going out so there may be an update later on tonight, if not then there will definitely be one tomorrow.

TIMBERWOLVES VS. 76ERS
Wachovia Center, Philadephia, 7:30 p.m., EST

TV, radio: Comcast SportsNet; UPN 57
Records: 76ers, 13-9; Timberwolves, 13-10

KEY MATCHUP: RASHAD MCCANTS VS. FRED HOIBERG
The Twolves decided to make a change to the lineup by putting Hoiberg at SG over Hassell. This may make McCants job a little easier on the offensive end. Hoiberg isn't as good as Hassell on the defensive end and he levels down to McCants height alot closer than Hassell. He is a 3-point threat, but so far this season he is shooting just 28% from downtown.

INSIDE THE 76ERS
The Sixers were able to end their 2-game losing streak on Tuesday against the Pacers who were wihtout their star player, Jermaine O'neal. Former MVP, Kevin Garnett will be a tough matchup for the entire 76ers team, but Dalembert is long enough to guard the 7-footer.

INSIDE THE TIMBERWOLVES
Sam Cassell was hurt earlier this weekend recieving a broken foot. He is expected to be out for at least six more weeks. The Twolves will miss out on 17.1ppg and 6.7apg, but replacement Troy Hudson is planning on coming close to Cassell averages.

Samuel Dalembert grabbed 3 offensive rebounds against the Twolves

PHIALDELPHIA, December 16 (Ticker) -- The first time the backcourt of Hudson and Hoiberg were together, things turned out pretty well for them. They drained six 3-pointers combined and they scored 20 points of combined in the first half for the Minnesota Timberwolves who rolled to a 109-97 victory over the lethargic 76ers, who have lost another game just after ending their 2-game losing skid. "I've just been trying to stay focused and positive all season," Hoiberg said. "I've been doing a lot of extra shooting. The other veterans have been a big help. They've let me know that I shouldn‘t worry too much about my shooting early through the season." The rejuvenated Hudson has kept himself in Minnesota's rotation and with the previous injury to Cassell, he has had the chance to step up which is what he did tonight.

"The guy has been through a lot the last couple of years by coming through for us when Cassell is out," Timberwolves superstar forward Kevin Garnett said. "It's great to be in a nice flow and rhythm, to be part of a system that really enjoys him. To have a great guy like him off the bench and can come in and start at anytime." Latrell Sprewell had one of his bad nights only shooting 3-12 from the field and scoring 9 points, but Kevin Garnett added 30, 13 rebounds and three blocks in just 44 minutes of play for the Timberwolves, who held just a two point lead heading into the 4th quarter until they made their run early.

The Sixers are helping plenty of teams get wins. Returning from a win against the Indiana Pacers, they suffered another loss at the Wachovia Center. The only bright side to this story is Rashad McCants who had a career-night with 27 points. "As Truman said, it stops right here," said coach Jim O'Brien, pointing to himself. "We have the personnel to be a lot better that we've shown so far this season. We have the personnel within the Atlantic Division to get into the playoffs, but we are not playing up to our capabilities." Allen Iverson made 9-of-18 shots for 23p oints and Chris Webber 5-of-7 for 16 points. "I wish I could put my finger on one thing," said Iverson, who scored 23 points. "There are a lot of things that went wrong tonight We're just not playing well. We have lost 3 of our last 4 games and we can‘t keep having these spells. Our communication wasn’t there like it should’ve been."

Well he didn't dunk on him, because KG was too dominate in this game. I tried Dalembert on him for a little bit and he worked out pretty well, next time I will probably stick D-Bert on him the entire time.

Yea, we shot pretty well from the field, yet we still couldn't stop Hudson, Hoiberg and KG. I was surprised to see Hoiberg starting over Hassell, I guess he has a higher rating from training in the off-season.

Manu Ginobili :: New Street Style
with Skeeter Skiles

I was able to catch up with San Antonio Spurs guard, Manu Ginobili and we talked about some things and here is a transcript from the interview:

SS: How are you doing today Manu?
MG: I'm doing fine, and you?

SS: Good. Let's get down to some of these questions. At the rate your team is playing, how do you prepare to help the teams in the ways you do such as doing just about everything on the court?
MG: It's all about having fun. I have a great set of teammates and we just try to have fun. For me, I just try to hustle at all times and stick my nose everywhere so I'm always getting my hands dirty.

SS: Your playing style is completely different from other players. Can you explain to us on how you got that style?
MG: I'm just use to playing that way (laughs). I'm never afraid of getting hurt or anything like that so I just want to leave it all out on the court. I try to go to the basket as strong as I can, and if I'm not able to go to the basket, I spread the defense by shooting the jumpers.

SS: You are the 2nd leading scorer on the team behind Tim Duncan, how does it feel to have Duncan as your sidekick?
MG: Timmy is a great guy and he doesn't act like a superstar even though he is one. He acts just like any of the other players on the teams and he just comes to work everyday like the rest of us. He isn't selfish with the ball and I guess you can say thats what makes us so successful in games.

SS: Are you looking for any major accomplishments to happen this year such as All-NBA team status or making the All-Star team?
MG: I just let that come to me and hopefully if I can keep playing the way I'm playing, it will all come together, but that's not my main goal. My main goal is to help the team win another championship.

SS: Who would you say is the toughest player for you to guard in the league?
MG: Well, you really don't want to say anybody is tough for you to guard (Laughs). But if I had to say someone, I would have to say Lebron James. He is so explosive and even though he isn't a very huge threat from the outside, he can blow past you in a minute and with his size and upper body strength, it makes it even tougher to stay in front of him. He can take you to the post as well.

SS: One more question before you go, how did you feel when you were taking 57th in the 1999 NBA Draft, and how do you think all the teams that passed you up feel right now?
MG: At first, I thought I wasn't going to get drafted and I wouldn't blame the other people for not picking me. They didn't know that much about me at the time, but San Antonio gave me a chance and I was able to show that I was able to perform in this league.

SS: Ok, thanks for your time and good luck for the rest of the year.
MG: Thanks

I was trying to steal the ball, but I push the wrong button  AI can dunk, I don't know about on someone though unless the person don't jump :P Yea, that's one thing I don't like about Webber and I want Simien to start or get another player. My big men can rebound well and Dalembert is a shot blocking king, but I need a bruiser.

Carmelo Anthony: 5.5 Miles Above
Interview by Retrokid

RT: It’s good to see you again Melo, how are you?
CA: I’m doing alright, how about you?

RT: Never been better, alright let’s get down to business. Last year around the same time, you were featured with the Jordan 1.5s, how did it feel to fill in the shoes of the greatest athlete of all time?
CA: The 1.5s were a truly amazing shoe, and it feels really good to be part of Jordan Brand and to be the next in line. I truly believe that I’ve been blessed by being chosen to represent JB.

RT: Well, it’s a new season, and this is the time when shoe fanatics have their eyes wide open, especially for the new Jordan 5.5s. What do you have to say to them
CA: All I got to say is, grab a pair as quick as possible coz the 5.5s, I believe will be an instant classic. As you know, it’s a blend between the Jordan 5s and 6s, which were some of the best Air Jordans ever. I just can’t wait to break some necks on court with these (laughs)

RT: So tell us, what is your favourite part of the shoe?
CA: Man, I don’t have a single favourite part, there are many details that I truly. First, the “Melo” written on the back, I love the way it’s been put on, looks real cool. I also like the clear soles that JB incorporated onto these shoes, since it’s a mix between the 5 and 6, I knew it would be part of the shoe, and I love how JB came up with the design so it would fit in with the shoe.

RT: Let’s talk about how the team did last season. At the beginning of the year, you really struggled, what was reason for that?
CA: Aww man, there were many. Firstly, the team felt really different especially with the addition of Kmart, it took a while for the team to gel. Then as you guys know, there were many off court problems that I had to face such as the drug possession charges I faced. All that made it difficult to concentrate on basketball.

RT: Midway through the season, people were already writing the Nuggets off the playoffs. How did that make you feel?
CA: It really pissed me off, not to mention the whole team. We all felt like a bunch of chumps who made it into the NBA through sheer luck. So we decided to step it up and we were able to get to the playoffs

RT: Where do you feel the team is going this year?
CA: This year, I believe we can be at least the 4th seed in the West. Coach has really been working us so we are ready for the new season. We all want to get over the nightmares we faced during the first half of the season, and personally I would like to show everyone that I can lead the Nuggets to the promise land this year.

RT: Well, good luck with that and thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts on your latest shoe and the Denver Nuggets.
CA: No problem man.

Jonathan Bender and the Pacers are now 0-2 against the Sixers this season

PHIALDELPHIA, December 18 (Ticker) -- Allen Iverson helped the Philadelphia 76ers hand the Indiana Pacers more heartache. Iverson’s 25-footer with 4.3 seconds remaining lifted the 76ers to an 83-80 victory over the slumping Pacers and also help avoid another losing skid. Superstar Allen Iverson returned from a subpar performance against the Timberwolves with 22 points, ten rebounds and eight assists for the Sixers (14-10), who moved into the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference. "All we want to do is try to win the Atlantic," Iverson said. "We don't care about the records and how things are going. All we want to do is win the Atlantic. We win the Atlantic, that's a guarenteed 1-3 spot in the playoffs."

The fourth quarter featured two ties and three lead changes. Philadelphia had a chance to take a commanding lead, but they only were able to score just six points in the 4th quarter. Jamaal Tinsley, who scored 14 points, was fouled with 17 seconds to go. An 79 percent foul shooter who had stepped to the line for the first time ended up missing both, giving the Sixers another chance with the game still tied at 80-80. "I'm stepping up and taking the blame," Tinsley said. "If I make those free throws, the outcome could have been different. It would’ve been more pressure on them to make the shot with us up by two instead of the game still being tied. If anybody says that it's not my fault, they are just trying to make me feel better." Iverson, who beat Washington with a long 3-point bomb in overtime on December 8, drove right and passed back to Iguodala. The second-year forward was hounded by Ron Artest but took a few dribbles back and found Iverson on the wing after running behind Webber to set a small screen and launched the ball with 5.6 secs and it went in all net.

"The play was for Allen. They knew it was for him, but Allen is just that good," Iguodala said. "I could have pulled it but it wouldn't have been a great shot. I knew that we had some time left and I saw that Iverson was on the wing. He took it and it went down." Iverson pressured Tinsley was he received the ball at the top of the key, and the ball went to Artest above the 3-point arc. He dribbled and with Iguodala and Webber on him he missed a 27-footer that Dalembert rebounded to seal the Sixers' win. "It seems like the game winning shots won‘t stop," Iverson said. "I was thinking that I could get another game-winner this month, but I would‘ve been fine with one of my teammates taking the shot if I couldn‘t get it because I had confidence in them. Iggy did a great job finding me though." O'Neal had 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Pacers, who are continuing its up-and-down games for the month of December.

"This is just another missed opportunity," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. "We had these guys down and we actually went on a 14-6 run for the entire 4th quarter, but 3 of those six points was the game winning shot. Now when something like that happens, it's disappointing." Webber scored 23 points, grabbed ten boards and dished out five assists for the Sixers, who held a 51-40 advantage on the glass. Stephen Jackson scored 14 off the bench for the Pacers, who shot 8-29 from downtown.

I'm going to try to play two games tomorrow if I get the chance because I do want to try and get the month of December over with.
