i had created some 90s bulls teams but now i play with the champions roster that's available. it's not perfect, a lot of minor appearance things to fix but still fun.

if i had time, i'd create the following classic teams:

The Champions roster only has NBA finalists. Another cool roster patch would be these classic teams that never reached the finals but would still be fun to play.

The Champs roster basically has all the NBA finalists from the past to the present (minus the 50s Minneapolis Lakers and latest Lakers Champs team).

Hey bulls I noticed today that the Legend Boston with Bird and co used the 4 out 1 in with Mchale and also a little motion through Bird, its usually for Bird off the Baseline screen. Also I noticed you have a few legend players that I don't have, I was wandering if you could give me those players? If so I can list the players I need.

Once i have done all the teams, i plan on adding in all the other players from the regular season, then I'll try to find someplace to post them. If you'd like to ask me for any of the ratings I used for these players, or what formulas I use to get the ratings, go right ahead.

Look and try to find in the FLEX plays which one has the SF coming off baseline screens. i cant remember which number. before, in the PS! versions there was this play 3-POINT 3 with the SG coming off basiline screens to get an open 3.

WIth Bird's celts, i usually use 1-4 HIGH with Bird either at PF (so the offense runs thru him), or sometimes at SF (SF's get a lot of screens also in this play. the SF will also try to post up). as for the 4 out 1 in, the closest you might get is TURNOUT 3.

OldFoolStyle: That'd be a sweet patch! Good idea except some teams are really too good for just one representative. eg. Bulls from 1st 3-peat and 2nd 3-peat, Showtime Lakers as well as Shaq-Kobe Lakers. Those are the two teams I can think of off the top of my head.

The Hawks
Nique just created alot of opportunities for himself, so Isolating him would probably be the best.

Lakers bench
Was average, they were basically used to spell quick min for the starters. But if I had to choose they would be stronger in defense.

Sixers

That team also had the Doctor so they run alot of things through him, iso, post ups, etc. They did use Malone to but Doc was the man.

Bulls96 - Here's most of what you asked, just wait 'till you get to the novel I have to write about Richard Dumas.

Hawks
'Nique ran screens, iso's, posted up, and hauled a lot of ass on the fastbreak. When you have him with the ball, look for any opening and shoot any time you have space. Use the head fake to draw the foul, he often led the league in free throw attempts. When Rivers has the ball, drive inside to pick up Wilkin's man, and always keep one eye open for him when trying to score with anyone else. Have them run the Zipper or Ballscreen when playing against him.

Randy Whitman: Think Danny Ainge without the 3. Good 10-17 foot shooter, acurate layups, decent ball handler, barely average defender.
Key stats, 28.8 minutes, .503 FG%, 12.7 Points, 2.97 assists.

Glenn "Doc" Rivers: With my rating system, he ended up with the highest overall on the team. Excellent passer, top defender.
Key stats, 31.6 minutes per game, .451 FG%, .828 FT%, 12.8 points, 2.09 steals, 10.04 assists.

Celtics
Jerry Sichting: Deadly acurate layup, otherwise an average backup point guard.
Key stats, 19.5 minutes, .570 FG%, .924 FT%, 6.5 points, 2.29 assists, 0.89 turnovers.

Scott Wedman: Mostly a small forward, but saw minutes at the 4 also. Good shooter from 12 feet out, average 3-point shot for the time period(i,e; he only put up one every other game), about average defender.
Key stats, 17.7 minutes, .473 FG%, .354 3PT%(17-48 in 79 games), .662 FT%, 8.0 points per game.

Greg Kite: Your average big-dumb-white-guy, think Joe Kliene with better shotblocking.
Key stats, 7.3 minutes per game, .374 FG%, .385 FT%.

Pistons
Mark Aguire: Scorer, plain and simple. Strong dunker, nice outside shot, and can hit the three. Average defense and rebounding for a three. Was usualy the leading scorer for the Pistons, but was injured most of the 88-89 season. If healthy he started with Rodman being the sixth-man.
Key stats, 29.7 minutes per game, .483 FG%, .293 3PT% (22-75 in 36 games), 15.5 points, 4.2 rebounds.

Lakers
Billy Thompson: Good defense, better than average shotblocker for a small forward. Mostly a slasher/dunker, someone to boost Magic's assists on the fastbreak.
Key stats, .544 FG%, 30 blocks in 59 games.

Wes Matthews: Didn't play much, since Magic and Cooper both played the point. Pretty average all-around backup point guard.
Key stats, 10.6 minutes per game, .476 FG%, .806 FT%, 4.2 points, 2.0 assists.

Mike Smrek: Big-dumb-white-guy part II.
Key stats, 7'0", 250lbs, 6.7 minutes, 'nuff said.

Adrian Branch: Played in about 40 games in two years. The kind of player that you throw in at the end of a blowout game.
Key stats, 6.8 minutes.

Sixers
This was late in Malone's career(err, well the middle, he was getting on in years though)so he only averaged 24.5 points per game, the Doctor had 21.4, Toney 19.7, and Mo Cheeks averaged 12.5. Use the Box almost exclusively, mayby play Motion when Moses is on the bench, always run on the fastbreak, and for Jah's sake don't ever try to shoot the three.

Mark Avaroni: BDWG, slightly above average rebounder. Why he started and averaged 20.2 minutes when they had forwards like Bobby Jones, Earl Cureton, Clemon Johnson, and later Charles Barkley is beyond me. Might have the longest shooting range on the team, but they were primarily known for their dunking anyway.
Key stats, .462 FG%, .690 FT%, 5.2 points, 4.1 rebounds.

Clint Richardson: Mostly contributed steals and dunks
Key stats, 22.8 minutes per game, .463 FG%, 0 of 6 from three point land, .640 FT%, 7.6 points, 0.9 steals, 2.18 assists.

Clemon Johnson: Typical 80's big man, scores in the paint, blocks a few shots, can come up with big rebounding numbers.
Key stats, 32 games, 21.8 minutes per game, .500 FG%, .586 FT%, 0.91 blocks, 6.4 rebounds.

Suns
Cedric Ceballos: 1991-92 slam-dunk champion, did two balls at the same time, but is best remembered for his "blindfold" dunk. A brilliant scorer, this is the guy you want to have the ball when the play goes to poop. He is also excellent at offensive rebounding, but his defense ranges from decent to lousy. For a while he was averaging 21 or more points per game, even though there were no actual plays called for him.
Key stats, 21.7 minutes per game, .576 FG%, .725 FT%, 12.8 Points, 5.5 rebounds(2.32 offensive, 3.19 defensive).

Richard Dumas: Where to even begin with this guy?. He was quick, had mad hops, he held his own defensively with the likes of Jordan and Pippen, he also liked the cocaine.
He started out his rookie season adding quick points off the bench, but after his first three month suspention he took the starter position due to his excelent defense and was crucial to the Suns fastbreak offense. He was a major factor in the playoffs, though he often seemed worn down late in the game.
In the games that Phoenix actualy won in the finals, it was due to Jordan never knowing who would guard him each time down the court. The stronger Dan Majerle, the blindingly quick KJ, or the all-around defender Dumas.
1993-94 wasn't a basketball year for him, he failed a drug test durring training camp and missed the entire season in rehab. He didn't return untill late in the 94-95 season, when he again failed a drug test and was banned for life from the NBA. He filed for re-instatement a few years ago, but was denied.
He played in Europe for a few years, but found that drugs were easier to get there than it is here, plus he was in a major funk due to his NBA career being over. Last I heard he has been clean and sober for around two years, and coaches kid's basketball in Chicago or New York somewhere.
Back to a brighter note, here's some stats, 27.5 minutes per game, .524 FG%, .707 FT%, 15.8 PPG(about 8 off the bench, 19 as a starter), 0.81 blocks, 1.77 steals(team leader), 4.6 rebounds(2.08 off/2.56 def). Not a very good ball handler at 1.25 assists per game and 1.92 turnovers.

So Old fool style, what did you run when you play with the Bird led Celtics team of the 80's.

I haven't played against them yet, so I can't tell what would work that way. Bulls96 suggested 1-4 high and Turnout 3.

I'm still a bit too lazy to learn all the plays, so I just leave it on Dynamic for my team, and keep the ball in Bird's hands as much as possible. For quick plays I run pick & roll if the shot is open I take, if not then Mchale/Parish/Walton have the open lane. I also call post up on everyone but Ainge. The only teams I use isolation on are Portland and Phoenix. I've only used 3-point with Houston, and that was only to space the shooters out before dropping it into Hakeem.

The only real trick I've learned so far is, playing as the Lakers calling a post-up with Worthy always puts Magic on the block. This was the main part of their half court offense, Magic in the post and Worthy slashing inside while Scott or Cooper ran the parimiter.
