Live 2006 at E3

Sun May 15, 2005 4:20 am

If Live 06 is shown on the XBOX 360 at E3, what kind of news do you guys usually recieve......do u get anymore screenshots, and are any videos released?

Sun May 15, 2005 6:10 am

I don't think that it is there for X-Box 360 since it isn't scheduled to be released for it. When it said about "Next generation games" it doesn't have to mean that it's for X-Box 360 (or PS3); it doesn't mention in the article anything about any console...

Last year I don't think we really got shown anything that special realy, we got three screens (renderings) and there was also the standard stuff that EA releases (NBA LIVE -06 is the next version of the EA Sports realistic basketball simulation, and it builds upon the greatness of blablabla... This game is on a whole new level and is as close to real-life as it gets blablabla...). IGN had a little text about what's new, although it didn't say very much. The year before that was the same, just a little info about what new features would be in it and a few screens (I think there was a video also).

EA will definately show footage of the next-gen games for NBA Live 2006, no doubt about it. IF somehow they don't there's still NBA 2K6 which looks just insane. This year's E3's main focus will be on Xbox 360 and you'll see a wide variety of EA next-gen titles next week.

check this out guys http://s51.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2S7K ... GHJSD6PXOD
never mind i tought it was nba live but it was nba 2k6 :? cool movie btw

If recent history is anything to by, we'll hear a little about the early improvements and additions, perhaps see a few screenshots and if we're lucky someone will post some video clips. I'm not 100% sure about the media that will be available, but if it's at the show as expected we're bound to learn a few things about it.

Maybe anybody is going to San Francisco ?

Mon May 16, 2005 12:20 am

Thanks for the info, but i've got one more question..........when they say they are showing these next gen titles does it mean games that will continue to appear on the new systems that are to come out (Ps3 ect)? And also, if any of you have seen that new 2k6 video, is that for the PS2/ XBox, or what it would look like for the new consoles like XBox 360.

Mon May 16, 2005 12:32 am

they're all for the next gen consoles coz the 2k6 video was part of the xbox360 premiere thing on mtv. don't know if there'll be versions for the current consoles.

Mon May 16, 2005 1:56 am

The ESPN 2k6 video was for XBox 360... NBA Live is scheduled to be for XBox, PS2, PSP, Gamecube and PC, so I doubt that they drop their entire production (that's been going on since the release of NBA Live 2005) just to make a new version exclusive for one new console (Which they've known would be out at that time all along). Besides; they're gonna own ESPN's basketball production for the next 25 years starting next year so why bother trying to compete with with them?

Mon May 16, 2005 2:34 am

But EA Sports announced that they are going to show XBOX 360 stuff with NBA Live 2006.

Mon May 16, 2005 2:59 am

When come to think about it; it's possible that they either push up the release date or just have the XBox 360 release date a while after the other consoles since it would most likely take more time if they plan to make it for another console. What I don't see though is how they would make it compatible with the old consoles if it is supposed to be for XBox 360 as well, since the changes in graphics and all that is rather significant.

Here's an outtake from an article I found that was about XBox 360:
"In every transition, processing power and memory take a certain level of jump," says Glenn Entis, chief visual officer of Electronic Arts, which is examining the possibilities of the new technology. Environments will be more lifelike — you'll see leaves on trees moving in golf games, and the ball will behave differently when hit out of varying degrees of rough. Athletes' faces may be so well defined that "you will start to read the eyes of NBA players, so that head fakes and no-look elements become a part of the game," he says.

edit: Look what I just found... Another screen (top right ):
http://images.ea.com/e3/hdr_e3.jpg
Shows Nash driving past a Heat player (seems to be Wade).

edit 2: EA has announced that they were going to release 25 titles for XBox 360 during the first year (wow). The odds of NBA Live being one of those is pretty big, so I think it's safe to say that EA is working on making NBA Live 06 for XBox 360. I just hope this doesn't drag down the quality that the games would have had otherwise.

NBA Live
This footage of hoops looked to be in-game, but since it was part of presentation labeled as concept art, we can't be positive. The movies highlighted a full court of players tossing up the rock. The most interesting section of the footage was when the camera went in for a close up of Ray Allen (Go UCONN!) and showed individual droplets of sweat pouring down his face.
I have yet to find this piece of video, although as soon as I get home I'll get crackin'... (y)

IGN has finally added NBA Live 06 to their E³ list of games under XBOX 360. The page hasn't yet been uploaded, or they have linked it wrong, so stay tuned.

Tue May 17, 2005 8:43 pm

I'm gonna wait for Playstation 3, because it has 7 CPU's running at 3.2 GHZ in cell formation, while the XBox 360 only has 3 or 4, meaning PS3's graphics will be much better.

Can we expect more stuff on live '06 still with 2 days remaining?, or is this it for now?

EA is holding a thing with Madden 06 tomorow at 10.30 (what time zone I don't know), perhaps there will also be some thing with NBA Live, but that's not very likely.
I do think that we'll get some more info on the game though; every time for the past few years, we've gotten the basic improvements and aditions, so hopefully they'll share that with us this year as well.

Thu May 19, 2005 4:45 am

It seems as EA Sports has a playable version of NBA Live 06 for the PSP at the E³.
At least it looks like NBA Live, and since -06 is the first to be avaible for PSP...

edit: Never mind, that appears to be Sega's NBA Basketball.

(do you think you can get all of the nba stuff from the game into one video file)

This is where the controller was handed to me to check out the all new free throw shooting mechanics. Using the right analog stick, you now have to use a fluid stroke, almost a Tiger Woods-like swing, to knock down the game-winning shot.

- - -

Hit the shot, and your team mobs you in celebration. Miss, and you'll see the frustration of teammates at your horrible choke.
NBA Live 06 simply looks amazing, from the court to the tats to the freckles on Tayshaun's face. For the first time in the series, you can actually tell the different body types of players beyond mere height. Now you can see the skinny nature of Luke Ridnour and the muscles of Jerome James. There are no more feet sliding across the floor, no more skating on hardwood as the athletes run, jump, and hit the floor with the fluidity of their real-life NBA counterparts.

And to top it off, nothing from the current gen game will be ported over. Sure, you can still expect to see freestyle moves, but it will all work in context with the new AI written from scratch, the new presentation and graphics system, and the new way EA hopes to make every character more human.

In fact, we could be looking at the most impressive sports game of E3.

Thu May 19, 2005 6:21 am

Now i've been reading on live '06 about what ppl at E3 are saying about it. They say a 3-D crowd, no more skating etc.......can ppl with a PS2 still expect this game to be good (like having a 3-D crowd, and smooth gameplay etc), or will this only be possible with the PS3/Xbox360

i think its gona be 3d crowd for ps2 or at least a more realistic looking crowd...and as for gameply on the current systems i think it'll be smooth like the e3 people claim too..but i think the whole rebuilding from scratch,etc.,etc. is only for next gen

Thu May 19, 2005 6:53 am

OMG

Thu May 19, 2005 7:46 am

wow I'm hyped up after reading the first impressions...
I'm gonna be even more hyped when more infos come out soon....
I love to hear that they are rebuilding the whole game
it really looks like they are putting some hard work
good job ea !!! (Y)

Thu May 19, 2005 10:22 am

There will NOT be a Live 2006 for the PS3, because PS3 comes out in the SPRING of 2006!

Who the HELL would want that?

Thu May 19, 2005 11:10 am

Yeah, that's why I can't wait to get my hands on my XBOX 360 so I can get my hands on Live 06.

Live 06 on XBOX 360>All you other suckers.

I'm going to lay $100 to preorder it sometime next week.
