Suns Take Over Game 1
Phoenix continued where they left off against the Nuggets

PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) -- Something that was different in tonight's game was that one team dominated the entire game unlike the regular season series. Phoenix couldn't be stopped on the offensive end as they almost was able to score 30+ points in all 4 quarters of the game. After the first quarter, the Kings let the Suns loose as they opened up the 2nd quarter on a 12-2 run and outscored the Kings 62-49 at halftime. "This is something I've tried to get into the players' heads and that was to dominate the beginning of the game," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "We finally did that in Game 1 and hopefully we can continue this throughout the series."

The Suns continued to dominate the game at the beginning of the 4th quarter when Amare Stoudemire made a layup with 9:23 left in the game to give Phoenix 100 points leading 100-79. At the 6:52 mark, Jim Jackson drove inside and drew a foul on Greg Ostertag, but he was injured on the play and had to sit out for the rest of the game. After the game, the team's medical staff said, "Jim Jackson sustained a strained calf muscle, and can possibly be out 13 days." Phoenix has been plagued with injuries and things just arent getting better for the Suns. Joe Johnson, who replaced Jackson when he went out, drained three straight 3-poitners between the 6:30 to 4:41 mark that gave him 26 points as the Suns led 111-89.

"This is tough for us and I was thinking we would stay healthy in this series, but it looks like I was wrong," Suns forward Shawn Marion said. Phoenix has suffered injuries from Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion and Jim Jackson during the playoffs and during the season it was Stoudemire and Barbosa. "I think its becoming more of a fatigue factor now," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "With the fast pace we have been running throughout 82 games, the players are a little tired and the cramps and aches start to come during late in the season." Mike Bibby led the Kings in scoring with 30 points to go along with 9 assists and 5 rebounds. Despite his productive game, the Kings couldn't produce enough points over the Suns and the story of the game was Peja Stojakovic. He was held to 15 points on 5-14 shooting. Phoenix asserted Walter McCarty on the sharp-shooting forward and he was able to lock him down. "Peja had a bad night and give McCarty alot of credit because he did a great job on our star player," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. The Suns have now won 5 straight games and have won their 2nd straight home game of the playoffs.

I'm ready to watch this game...

Well the game wasn't AS good as I expected  McCarty did good on Peja and because of that, the Kings couldn't make no type of run late in the game

dude man, my eyes just flashed open when i saw that houston had won 4-0. i was like, holy shit!

Yeah, even with Duncan hurt, I don't think they would actually SWEEP. At least win in like six games or even five.

good luck bro, sweep the Kings

So far it's 1-0 so I'm trying to get there.

Great game 1 win, SbHzMaFiA. Good luck in game 2.

yea it looks like johnson replacing jackson from that injury really did help

thanks, it took alot of work to win those games. the reason why i remove the box scores was because ea doesn't have them for some odd reason. it's pretty stupid imo because you should want boxscores more during the playoffs. i will start recording team stats from now on as well.

Great game 1 win, SbHzMaFiA. Good luck in game 2.

thanks john wb

yeah they don't which sucks btw........i hope EA hears out our wishlist for next year...because dynasties like this one really looks good with boxscores.....especially in the playoffs

i don't understand the reason for not having them either

Make sure Peja doesn't get hot Mafia! lol... he really hurts.. same with Bibby!

Good luck!

yea, because when he do, i think the kings are definitely locked for winning the game. bibby getting hot was enough and if both of them get hot, its going to be hell

Great win, good luck for the 2nd game !

thanks lego :)

Thanks for all the compliments. Everything is running smoothly except for the injury to Jim Jackson. :( I plan on making another update for Game 2 today so keep on the look. (Y)

KINGS VS. SUNS
America West Arena, Phoenix, 7:30 p.m., PST

TV, radio: ESPN; KTAR 620
SEASON RECORD: Kings, 56-26; Suns, 64-18.
SEASON SERIES: 3-1 Suns
PLAYOFF SERIES: 1-0 Sund
INJURY REPORT: Kings- Brad Miller (broken nose) on injury reserve; Suns Jim Jackson (strained calf) out indefinitely

KEY PLAYERS ON SUNS (Round 2 Stats)
Joe Johnson- 26pts, 5rebs, 5asts
Steve Nash- 22pts, 7rebs, 7asts, 3stls
Shawn Marion- 22pts, 9rebs, 9rebs, 6asts, 2stls

KEY PLAYERS ON KINGS (Round 2 Stats)
Peja Stojakovic- 15pts, 5asts, 5-14 FG
Mike Bibby- 30pts, 9asts, 5rebs
Cuttino Mobley- 22pts, 5rebs

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- After another day of practice, the Suns are looking to do the same thing they did to the Kings in Game 1 and that was to control the entire game. "There's nothing to it, if we control the entire team, we will win," Suns forward Shawn Marion said. "With Jim Jackson out of the rotation, we will need a couple of more bench players to feel his void and lets try to go on a scoring spree like we did the first game." In Game 1, the Suns scoring summary from all 4 quarters were 30, 32, 29 and 28. Sacramento had a hard time controlling the Suns offense and without Brad Miller, their interior defense was very weak. "With no Brad Mmiller in the mix, it will be hard for them to stop Stoudemire and Marion in the paint who are very athletic," Coach D'Antoni mentioned during an morning interview. "They have no athletes at the center and power forward spot Stoudemire is too quick for Ostertag."

During the Kings practice yesterday, Peja Stojakovic was put through a shooting drill that lasted for 15 minutes and he attempted over 150 shots during that time. He made 74 of the 150 shots and that was alot better than 5-14, which is what he put up in Game 1. "The purpose of the drill was for me to get my rotation back to normal and make my shot alot quicker to where if a defender is coming, I can quickly shoot the ball and not be affected by the defense," Stojakovic said. The Suns will be looking to play Walter McCarty on Peja once again in Game 2 and see if he can bring the same magic he had in Game 1. Mike Bibby and Cuttino Mobley are the other two players on the Kings that are looking to have another a big game in Game 2. "I know that Mike, Cuttino and Peja are very focused for tonight's game and with them focused, the entire team will come into the game focused," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "Those are our 3 best players and with Brad out of the lineup, they will have to carry the team."

Nice to see you having escaped an upset by the Nuggets. Man , I hate Denver, and I don't even know why... Could be those eye-straining new jerseys...

Here's to getting past the Cavs... and beware of Peja, if you have Q-Rich marking him , he'll be able to shoot over him easily. And if you're playing on Superstar, you know how important contesting shots yourself is... Maybe you should use a big but agile PF like McCarty a little more in this series just to keep an eye on the Grecoserbian( he played here in Greece since the age of 16, did you guys know that?)

Hey, maybe you should put something about the NFL draft in that newspaper of yours, th etiming is just about right... Who did teh Cardinals pick?

Amare should make Ostertag look like a fool. Shooters like Pedja, Mobley and Bibby can light you up if you don't keep them under wraps though, but its not like the Suns win with defence, right?

I hate Denver too

I used McCarty on Peja in the first game and he a did a pretty good job. I've finished Game 2 as well so you'll have to see how well Peja did in that game. I knew he played for Greece, but I didn't know what a Grecoserbian was  For the NFL draft thing, thanks for the idea because I've added a little about the Diamondbacks starting their season back so I will do something with the Cardinals.

Amare should make Ostertag look like a fool. Shooters like Pedja, Mobley and Bibby can light you up if you don't keep them under wraps though, but its not like the Suns win with defence, right?

 Well your right about Amare making Ostertag look like a fool

Bibby and Mobley lit me up in Game 1 and if Peja would've went off, who knows what would've happened :(

____________________________________________________________________

I will have to post Game 2 tomorrow because I'm real tired and I had alot of work to do today. I finished the game about 30 mins ago and then I had to go do something else which messed my timing up. The good thing though is I may try to do double time tomorrow with Game 2 along with Game 3 so keep on the look out.

Stoudemire had by far his best game of the playoffs

PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) -- On a team loaded with offensive firepower, Amaré Stoudemire was a one-man wrecking crew. Stoudemire scored 22 of his 31 points in the 2nd half and the Phoenix Suns improved to 2-0 in the series with a 119-101 victory over the Sacramento Kings. "He was just unstoppable tonight, playing one of his best games of the playoffs," Suns guard Joe Johnson said. "He did all he could down the stretch for the team to help us seal the game." Stoudemire was able to dominate Greg Ostertag in the post with his quickness and athleticism. Ostertag recorded just 3 points and 5 rebounds, and when the Suns went on the break, Stoudemire flew past Ostertag for easy dunks.

After Stojakovic scored the first 7 points for the Kings at the beginning of the 4th quarter, he fouled out at the 10:20 mark as teh Kings trailled 88-84. "Once he fouled out, we knew we had to take advantage and try to steal another game," Stoudemire said. "And we did exactly that." Sacramento wouldn't go away after Bibby scored his 28th point with the shot clock running down to move the Kings back within' 93-89 with 8:38 left in the game. The Suns were able to gain a double digit lead after Nash fed Richardson on the wing for a 3-point bomb that put Phoenix up 101-91 wiht just under 7 minutes remaining in the game. Joe Johnson dished out his 8th assist of the night to Marion who threw down a two-hand slam with 2:41 left in the game and to give the Suns a 110-101 advantage.

Bobby Jackson missed a 3-pointer, who could've cut the lead to 8 points, but Stoudemire grabbed the board and the Kings started to put pressure on Phoenix. Stoudemire was able to seal the game after converting on a 3-point play to put the Suns up 115-101 with 1:19 left to play. Phoenix had four players with 20 or more points as Stoudemire had 31, Nash had 22 points to go along with 13 assists, Richardson scored 21 points and Joe Johnson scored 20 points. The Suns also had four players with double-doubles. Stoudemire grabbed 15 boards, Marion scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Richardson grabbed 10 rebounds and Nash dishing out the 13 dimes. "Everyone did what they had to do in that final quarter and we won another home game which was a very important game for us heading into one of the toughest arenas to play in for Game 3," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. Games 3 and 4 will be held at ARCO Arena, and the Suns will look to try and win both games on their home floor.

The Grecoserbian is going to be held under 20 points the entire series, or at least I will try

And I want the Kings to win some games too.

If the Kings do win some games, then that will put me in a position of maybe being eliminated. I can't let up in Game 3 at all.
