I love it!!! Excellent job once more, X.

Tiago Splitter and Luther Head ,eh? Uh-oh, I can feel nicknames in the vicinity of "Banana Splitter", "Big Banana", or "That Head" filing up this dynasty...

Well at least i will hang out with hot chicks (Y)

It appears the starting PG spot is there for the taking and you could be the Lakers missing link....perhaps

:chug: glad people liked them, it was a last minute idea to spice it up a little bit with pics without making load times too bad on the thread....

A lot of credit goes to you for making a lot of the draftee cyberfaces and encouraging a lot of other people to make them as well....as well as TimX5 and all the other guys from the rookie requests thread, and to everyone else (lpasso, homeboy, lob-shy, iLLuzionz, 3th-cartoon, and all the others who contributed, even me as I made a Danny Granger one myself) who contributed...I now have like about 45 or more of the draftee's cyberfaces which is great, including all my 1st Rounders :D

Micchy_boy wrote:i'm happy with the Bucks, hope i can help them make the playoffs

Good to hear no trade demands on the way from you....wouldn't expect anything else....as for playoffs, we'll see as my 'Cats will taking one of the spots out East

I really was surprised you fell down so far as you were one of the most complete SG's in the draft....I guess most teams in that range didn't need SG's and you therefore fell....

Sit wrote:Oh well... lets see how things go- i dont think i will pull a steve francis... just yet!

yeah, I'd be reluctant to force a trade with you guys as rookies....maybe in your 3rd year or something and your contract is close to expiring....

Sit wrote:X, can u change me to SG??? lol

since you're only 5'7" I'd probably consider moving Francis to SG and Nelson and you can man the PG spot....

although I'm not sure yet....I will consider positional changes, ie. in Philly which has 3 great PG's, it only makes sense that Iverson moves back to his old SG position and Joshua Fowles and Match_66 take the PG....plus I'd like to move Lebron James to SF like in real life....let me know your thoughts people on this matter....

Always good, your time is coming, you will learn of your destination in the next day or two....

"That Head"
don't give me any ideas, my dynasty could turn into a mockery if "That Guy" hasn't already done so

and finally, I haven't heard any sympathy for missing out on all the draftees that I wanted, namely Gerald Green :(

when i clicked the link to the dynasty, i thought, it would be funny if i got drafted 13th, cause somehow i feel like thats unlucky while my friends thinks its lucky while 4 is unlucky.
i guess its lucky in the sense that seattle has mad asian people :P
and amherst is amherst hs, but its cool.

and i didn't even notice the pics until someone (i think john wb) mentioned it. i was wondering why they were a different color.

if you're wondering everyone, click on the names of the players/draftees that are in red and it will take you to the pic url....I put it like this to save a little bit of loading time and so on....

so in you case Match, click on your name and you'll go to the pic....

Sit wrote:Or can u trade Franchise??? For someone...

nah, don't really wanna do that....too much messing around with it....I'm not sure, but he might be a Free Agent soon....I'll see how the minutes pan out, but at the moment I'm not going to trade players, especially franchise ones....at the moment the Magic have Mobley as starting SG, Francis as starting PG, with Nelson and you as backup PG's....I'll see how minutes pan out before I make any decisions....

EDIT: if you want to I could change you to a SG and you can fight with Mobley for minutes, although I still think you'll be his primary backup at SG....in other words, chances of you starting are slim as a rookie unless injury forces it....that's just reality unfortunately....

cheers for all the comments guys, keep 'em coming

2005 OFF-SEASON COVERAGE

FREE AGENCY SIGNING PERIOD

Well, with the draft completed it's time to move onto the free agency signing period. Before free agency my roster looks like this:

C - Guy Dumars/Melvin Ely
PF- Emeka Okafor/Tiago Splitter(R)
SF- Gerald Wallace/Luke Walton
SG- Andrew Watson/Kyle Korver/Willie Green/Luther Head(R)
PG- Gilbert Arenas/Ben Tshibaka

So as you can all see I need a backup C or two, a backup PG and a starting SG. Those were my main 3 wants going into the free agency period.

As I entered the available free agents, I was once again disappointed to see that there was not much talent left in free agency as all the top free agents were re-signed by their respective teams.

Image

Nene is probably the top free agent available at this point and could help the Bobcats' frontcourt significantly. Meanwhile Nick Van Exel would make a good, veteran backup PG for the Bobcats and could provide the experience and leadership that the team needs if he can keep his head in gear. As for the rest of them, they are basically role players and don't really interest the Charlotte Bobcats too much.

JULY 2006

I started out by immediately going after the 2 players I had my eye on, Nene and Van Exel. I am once again thinking of keeping cap room available for next season's 2004 draft class (Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Kirk Hinrich, Chris Bosh, etc) that become free agents next season.

Bobcats sign Nene

The Charlotte Bobcats are happy to announce the signing of former Nuggets' PF/C Nene to a 6 year, $25 million deal. The deal is backloaded with an annual increases of 10%. Nene was asking for a little bit extra, but with the lack of players in the market, the Bobcats were able to pick up Nene pretty easily. Nene will become the primary reserve at C and PF for the Bobcats, and will provide extra defense, toughness and insurance in the frontcourt for the team. I gave Nene a long-term deal because I felt it was important to shore up my front-line with another quality player who can play well as a starter or a reserve. At about $4 million a season, he's not overpriced, and I hope to see improvement in his game over the coming years, as he's only a 23-year old at the moment.

Bobcats sign Van Exel

The Charlotte Bobcats are happy to announce the signing of veteran PG Nick Van Exel to a 1 year, $6.5 million deal. His agent wanted a 2 year deal, but I didn't want to tie up money more than one season in an ageing veteran. The one year deal hopefully will strengthen the team's chances of making the playoffs this season, whilst still being able to be a player in the free agency market next season. Van Exel is expected to provide instant offense off the bench at PG and could, at times, play side-by-side with Gilbert Arenas in a "small-ball" lineup.

AUGUST

The One That Got Away

Figuring I needed more help at SG, I went up Celtics' swingman Jiri Welsch. I made a couple of 1 and 2 year offers for Jiri Welsch. But unfortunately, the Bulls gave him the long-term deal that I wasn't willing to give him (I only wanted to give him a 1-year deal).

Bobcats sign Hassakis

The Charlotte Bobcats announced today that they signed Makis Hassakis to a 1 year deal at league minimum, $345,000. The signing figures to add more frontcourt depth.

After free agency my roster looks like this:

C - Guy Dumars/Nene/Makis Hassakis (R)
PF- Emeka Okafor/Melvin Ely/Tiago Splitter (R)
SF- Gerald Wallace/Luke Walton
SG- Andrew Watson/Kyle Korver/Willie Green/Luther Head (R)
PG- Gilbert Arenas/Nick Van Exel/Ben Tshibaka

As can be seen I have strenthened the frontcourt as well as the backup PG spot. The SG spot remains weak due to the fact that role players are holding down the position at the moment. Perhaps we'll see a trade to bring in a starting SG.

That is how the free agency period panned out. Trade period summary to follow ASAP....

2005 OFF-SEASON COVERAGE

TRADING PERIOD

While making some progress in free agency, there is still a big hole at SG. Let's see if I could swing some trades to remedy this.

AUGUST 2006

Once the trading period started I concentrated on trying to find a better home for Makis "Dweaver" Hassakis. I wanted him to go to a destination that coveted him and where he would have a chance to play. I put Hassakis on the trading block and the Phoenix Suns, who are always in need of quality big men came calling.

Image
Dweaver's rating rose to 56 by the end of the off-season if you were wondering

Bobcats Trade Greeks

The Bobcats announced today that they had traded the rights to newly-signed rookie Makis "Dweaver" Hassakis to the Phoenix Suns for 2nd year forward Tarmo Renberg. Both Hassakis and Renberg hail from Greece. I can not really understand the Bobcats' reasoning behind this trade as Renberg does not really make the team any better. I would be surprised if Renberg even makes the opening day roster to tell you the truth.

Image

Hassakis figures to strengthen the Suns frontcourt as they push for a playoff berth for the first time in 3 seasons.

AUGUST 2006

'Cats not feeling very Green with envy

The Charlotte Bobcats turned their attention towards trying to acquire high schooler Gerald Green, who they highly coveted in the draft who was snapped up one spot before they picked. The Bobcats offered a variety of combinations, but cap restrictions really hampered any chance of pulling off a deal. The Cavs also seemed reluctant to deal Green unless the deal heavily weighed in their favour. No deal could be made.

Image

After the off-season the roster looks like this:

C - Guy Dumars/Nene
PF- Emeka Okafor/Melvin Ely/Tiago Splitter (R)/Tarmo Renberg
SF- Gerald Wallace/Luke Walton
SG- Andrew Watson/Kyle Korver/Willie Green/Luther Head (R)
PG- Gilbert Arenas/Nick Van Exel/Ben Tshibaka

What's on the books for the rest of the Roster?!?

Well it appears that Renberg will be waived before the start of the season. Another centre will probably be signed for insurance purposes. I will also be looking at dealing for a starting SG. The players that I am willing to include in a trade are Gerald Wallace, Luke Walton, Willie Green and Luther Head. I know I can get Manu for Wallace and Walton, although that would take me out of the running in next year's free agency market. Although it's likely not going to matter, since they always seem to get re-signed by their teams.

Let me know of suggestions for SG's to trade for. Ideally I would like to hold onto Wallace, but I do not care about the other 3.

Hope you enjoyed off-season coverage. Season to follow soon.

BOBCATS ANNOUNCE NEW AWAY UNIFORM

The Charlotte Bobcats will now be playing in new road uniforms from the start of the 2006/07 season. It was reported that the bright orange uniform made many punters sick and turned them away from coming down and supporting their local team. Whilst familiar with only the "Zoolander"-style catwalk, 2nd year guard Andrew "The X" Watson showed off the new away strip that the team will wear this season.

Perhaps more modelling jobs on the way for The X, but then again, probably not

Nice uniforms, though I hope you've kept the orange ones as throwbacks. :P Sorry to hear you couldn't swing that deal, hopefully you won't need Green in your lineup. Or perhaps the Cavaliers could see their way to giving him up during the season. ;)

Hey, talk about a nice start in my NBA career. Traded without ever getting drafted or getting to play a single game... Well, maybe it's for the better, as I would be stuck in the IR on the Bobcats. SO, will I start for Phoenix or what?

I never really thought about that but maybe I unconsciously chose that uni because of that. Let's see if it can turn the team as mighty as the All Blacks :o

Yeah, guess I have no choice once again but to start at SG. I can envision Arenas and Van Exel playing in a small-ball lineup at times. I really have been trying to get a quality SG but it just ain't happening, I guess it's just destiny for me to start :?

Sorry bro, haven't had a chance to check it out between dad being over, minor renovations to the house and my little sister's 18th....but when I do check it out, I'll let you know....will probably do some sort of update for November stating what's going on with the NLSC-ers....my guess is that the Suns will still start Stoudemire at C and you will move ahead of the likes of Voskuhl and co as the primary backup at C and PF....just a guess though, we'll have to see....

always....even if we do get flogged at almost everything  it's been some proud times watching NZ basketball be on a level pegging with Aussie basketball the last couple of years culmunating in the 4th place at 2002 World Champs in Indy....it's a big sign of respect that Aussie is bringing over Bogut for World Champ qualifiers against us (Y) although I think Aussie bball is starting to get back on track, with a few new college stars strengthening their frontline....

either way, Bobcats season to start soon :D
