How do i export it to the xteam.viv? Can you give me a detailed instruction? Would really appreciate it.
Hope you can help me with this one. I'm getting sick and tired in using other teams jerseys

Thanks!

Yeah, i understand that.
Ok...

If you only want to edit the jerseys, it isn't so hard.
But if you also want to edit other things (like the court), it's getting a little harder.
I'll try to explain the "jerseys only" solution:

1. Open your DBF Editor, and open your "teamgear.dbf". Copy (or add) a jersey to your team. Remember to change the "ID" and the "TEAM" fields.
Then, change the "SHPNAME" to another one not used, on four letters (fx. cl10 or something). Close your DBF Editor.

2. If you already have your jersey fsh ready, change the name. Fx. If your "TEAMABR2" in the "teams.dbf" is, say ny, rename it to "ny****.fsh".
**** being your SHPNAME in the "teamgear.dbf".

2. Open EAGE. Open your "xteam.viv" in your "render" directory. Press the "Import Wizard". Select "Add files to an external TAR archive" and press next. Add the jersey and the jersey numbers. Press next, and your import will finish. Close EAGE.

3. Open tha game and load ya save. Ready to play!

It's a VERY complicated process. Hope you understand it.
If you have questions, please post. I'm here to help... hehe :)

Sorry my english.

yes very good!

we have been busy lately, however we are close to having the version of 2003 Custom Team Manager completed for Beta unit testing. the Alpha unit testing seems complete and the initial compatibily issues seem to be overcome.

using this new program technolgy, you can create a custom team (in a few seconds) on a 1.2 G AMD cpu by just clicking the OK button! the custom graphics take longer to make for sure lol!

here is the prelimnary information about it use:
http://nba2kstuff.nba-live.net/nba/help_cteam2k3/index.html

i could use now additional knowlegeable testers who have experience in making the custom teams by hand to continue the beta testing of this program. i have limited time , as also busy with the historic collection graphics and data. so if you can run tests on your own and report back for suggestion and fixes (over time) we can provide pre-release testing version for small group of knowledgable testers. when it appears stable and most useful, we can release for general public then.

as it is very experimntal still, remeber if it gets messed up, you may have to know how to re-install the game from scratch! so only experienced testers please.

if you like to be a knowledgable tester, please contact:
nba2kstuff@GameBox.net

and we can try to setup access to pre-release WIP (workinporgres) snapshots.

thanks and peace!

Any how, keep up the good work and may the force be with you... Or something like that

I give up :? Some players still don't appear. There's only a "C" and when i click "next" nobody appears. The game crashes until it loads. It might be because of my bad english or... I don't know damn. :(

Actually, i know that. The point that I'm driving at is that, will it be possible to assign shoes even if i have no created cyberface? Is there a work around to this absence of a cyberface? Thanks for the reply pinkegobox, appreciate it.

I guess we have that cleared already..that ther is no way for us to do it. With regard to letting my rookie challenge rosters wear their own team jerseys in the game, is this possible? Presently what they wear are those eastern and western conference jerseys that looks more of a practice jersey than a game jersey...I really would like to change these jerseys. Hope somone can help

I tried the method for making custom teams and it works, howver there's a problem whith regards to custom jerseys.
Here goes:

My custom team's called the Red Storm. Our jersey is similar to that of the clippers. I just edited the clippers unis using EA editor and named them rsaway.fsh, rsaway_num.fsh, etc.. i copied them onto xteam.viv ( i dont like using the customart method ).
my TEAMABR2 id the team.dbf file is "rs"
I load the game and
I can see my custom uniform in the jersey select screen. however when i try to play a game, it hangs. damn.

Now, i edited teams.dbf and tried using the la clippers unis (lc), the game works. SO there is no problem with my custom team.

Now i experimented and i tried renaming my custom jersey files to llaway.fsh, llhome.fsh and i overwrote the lakers unis using the EA editor.
I also changed my TEAMABR2
Now i'm able to play with my Red Storm custom team with my red storm custom jersey.

It seems that the game wont accept my custom jersey if its not named as one of the pre existing teams.

Is there any other thing that i have missed?

i copied team logos from the other teams and renamed them to rs too.
i must have missed a file or something.

yeah i did that too, i also copied an existing court and named it rscrt.fsh

what i finally did was rename all my files to 50*.*
and overwrote the 50's all star files. It works, my team is the 30th "regular" team "not an allstar or legends team.
But i consider this cheating.
Any other things that I might have missed out on?
Any crucial fields that I missed?

How do i edit menu logos?

Postby bats on Thu Mar 27, 2003 9:26 am

here's another question, how do i make custom team menu logos?
I thought it would be like editing the jerseys but it doesnt work

Here i what i tried to do:

I loaded EA graphics editor
I opened the NBa live 2003 "renfre" directory
I opened xlogo_f.viv
I extracted lc.fsh (clippers logo)
I saved it under a new directory and then opened it.
I then see the file "000"
I save it as a .bmp and edit the picture (i just made a few scribbles over the clippers logo)
Now I try to import the file *.bmp into the lc.fsh file that i extracted
and i get the message :
"Importing to this file type is not allowed"
damn!
I also used this method for the other renfre files like xlogo_m.fsh, xlogo_s.fsh, etc . and i get the same message.

This is the same method i use for editing jerseys and it works.
What's wrong with my method? :?:

Bats, i have to tell you, i have the exact same problem...with the creating a team, and not using custom art, and exporting all the art through big .viv but still crashes, and i can see my jersey in the select screen but it still crashes, and when i change the TEAMABR2 to an NBA team it works...yada yada yada...

Nick,

have you tried renaming your custom jersey files to resemble an existing team? i turned mine into the lakers - llhome.fsh, llaway.fsh,etc. andchanged the TEAMABR2 to LL. It works. it means that there is nothing wrong with our custom jerseys.
there's just something that's missing. the game might be looking for some sort of file.

Hmm. I had a working team that used the intials HS and it worked. I used hshome.fsh and hsaway.fsh Then i had to format my HD and i tried making a new team with CG as the initials and now it errors out when the game is loading.. I CAN see the jerseys in the jerseys menu but the game doesnt start.. Very wierd.
