Nice work X... but something tells me Priest Askins might get ROY...

Sun Apr 03, 2005 8:40 am

I'll edit that....sorry

thanks.

don't know if I will make actual 2nd team when the game decides, but I think I should be able to squeeze in there....

Sit wrote:but something tells me Priest Askins might get ROY...

yep, it wouldn't surprise me either....it's a 2 horse-race, both players were Eastern Rookie of the Month for 3 of the 6 months, neither rookie's team made the playoffs. Askins was more efficient in less minutes as a 6th man, but I think Dumars' month of April could make the difference. It's a toss-up really. Nothing would surprise me in this result.

Yeah, looks like he drops his contacts or something

I'd be happy with just an appearance at ASW

yep, thought I'd see if the correlation between birdie scores and the final awards exist....don't worry about posts, I figured you were having a few issues considering your dynasty updates had slowed down a tad....yep, gotta get those darn rookies rated....I've been putting it off, but will try and put in the time tonight after I go out for a game of golf....

Sun Apr 03, 2005 1:00 pm

wow, nice work on the awards :)

Is that an expression they use in Australia for going out on a drinking marathon?

Yeah, I know dbf editing can be very tedious... Have a lot of patience and a lot of coffee ( or beer, whichever does the trick for you ..) by your side... Good luck (Y)

CoolMac wrote:well golf here in the philippines is really a street term for drinking our asses away till dawn

ahh, CoolMac has arrived....

as for the golf, actually this time it was an actual game of golf....woods, irons, putters, etc....first game in a few months actually....I did knock a couple of brews back but was driving so couldn't drink much....

but yep, I've noticed "playing golf" has many different meanings....including being on the prowl....

still dbf-editing, but plan to start playoff coverage ASAP....won't be a 2nd Jazz dynasty though as I decided to buy ESPN2k5 to play when I get slowed down with this dynasty and dbf editing etc....

I'll probably have the time to do off-season this weekend coming, and updates will be in the following week....

Good to hear X!

Almost forgot to show the 2005/06 season's league leaders. Without further ado....

LEAGUE LEADERS

ALL-WORLD SCORERS

Image

2004/05 MVP Antoine Walker (Hawks) had another MVP-type season for the Hawks as he took his 1st ever career scoring title as he averaged 25.4ppg and led his team back to the post-season. 'Toine beat out former Celtics' teammate Paul Pierce who finished with a career high average of 25.0ppg. The Bucks' Michael Redd averaged a stellar 24.9ppg, which was good enough for 3rd in the league, and to move his team back to the post-season.

BIGGEST GLASSEATER

Image

MVP favourite Kevin Garnett really stepped his game up to an even higher gear as he averaged a league-leading 12.4rpg for the T'wolves. Shaq couldn't make it back-to-back rebounding titles as he narrowly fell short of Garnett with 12.3rpg. At least the Heat is looking better for a title run this season. Tim Duncan led his Spurs' teammates to homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs and his 12.0rpg, good for 3rd in the league helped his cause.

IT'S GREAT TO PLAY WITH THIS GUY AS HE'S NOT AFRAID TO GIVE UP THE ROCK

Image

The heart of the Knicks, PG Stephon Marbury was not going to get pipped at the post in this category for the 2nd straight season as he bolted away from his peers to average a league-best 8.4apg, as he looks to take the Knicks to back-to-back titles. He beat out a couple of young PG's, the Spurs' Tony Parker (7.2apg) and the Bulls' Kirk Hinrich (7.1apg).

PROTECT THE BALL AROUND THESE PESTS

Image

Injury-free, Jason Kidd was at his best defensively as he hawked opponents for a league-leading 2.24spg. Kidd beat out Bobcats' PG Gilbert Arenas (2.10spg) and Lakers' star Kobe Bryant (2.09spg).

LONG ARMS EQUAL LOTS OF BALLS IN THE RAFTERS

Image

The Beast lived up to his nickname as he tormented the league to the tune of 2.71bpg. Wallace also hopes to lead the Pistons deep into the playoffs after last season's shock 1st Round defeat at the hands of the 8th seeded Magic. Big Ben's teammate, Rasheed Wallace finished 2nd in the league with 2.38bpg. Pacers' star Jermaine O'Neal used his long arms to deflect 2.33bpg and disrupt many more.

IT'S ALL ABOUT EFFICIENCY FOR THESE GUYS

Image

Future Hall of Famers, Tim Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal, finished with 57.8% and 56.0% from the field, which was good enough for 1st and 3rd in the league respectively. They cushioned Chi-Town's super 6th man, Kwame Brown, who finished the season with a clip of 56.2%.

GOOD FROM FAR, BUT FAR FROM GOOD?!?

Image

Turkoglu might not have provided much variety to the Magic's offense, but he sure shot the 3-ball well. Real well actually, to the tune of 51.5%, and beat out 2nd place-getter, the Celtics' Walter McCarty, who shot an impressive 46.1% from beyond the arc. Bobcats' backup PG Steve Blake was 3rd in the league in 3pt proficiency as he shot a career-best 45.2%.

IT TRULY IS CHARITY FOR THESE GUYS

Image

We all knew Nash made everyone else better, but who knew he could shoot this well from the FT line. Nash led the Suns and the rest of the league as he shot 96.7%. Knicks' guard Allan Houston and Pacers' forward Austin Croshere were no slouches, as they shot 95.0% and 94.5% respectively.

GATORADE ANYONE?!?

Image

If anyone needs gatorade, it has to be Hawks' All-Star Antoine Walker. Why you may ask, well 'Toine did lead the league in minutes for the 2nd straight season as he averaged 41.7mpg. Asian star Yao Ming certainly was used more than usual by the Rockets as he averaged 41.6mpg, and showed that he is ready to take over the league. Age and wear-and-tear did not stop Nets' superstar PG Jason Kidd was pushing his body to the limit as he averaged 41.2mpg, which was good for 3rd in the league.

PLAYOFF BRACKET

Here's how the post-season shapes up with the Spurs and Pistons looking to capitalise on strong regular seasons to claim No. 1 seeds and guaranteed homecourt advantage through until the NBA Finals, if they make it that is. The playoff bracket is below.

Expect playoff previews, playoff results and award recipients over the next couple of days.

Also curious who you guys would draft if you were in my situation. Probably gonna have the Number 8 or 9 pick. Fran Vazquez, Chris Taft, Cocobee, Gerald Green, Tiago Splitter and 'Melo are 6 possible prospects that will be available when I pick. It's probable that at least half of these guys will be gone by the time I pick. I'm in dire need of a starting SG and Green and 'Melo are super-athletes, however they both lack the polish to be able to start off the bat. Cocobee would be a backup PG if selected, and is a combo guard, and I already have a few of those. I probably wouldn't pick Taft, just because I don't like his consistency. I wouldn't mind grabbing either Vazquez or Splitter, with a preference towards Splitter, who has slightly more potential and can play at all 3 frontcourt positions. So basically, I think it's either gonna be between high schooler Gerald Green and Brazilian Tiago Splitter. Am interested to see all your guys opinions on this matter

Draft Cocobee And Move Arenas To SG OR Draft Gerald Green.

I'll second that suggestion, exactly as it was written.

Asian star Yao Ming certainly was used more than usual by the Rockets as he averaged 41.6mpg, and showed that he is ready to take over the league.

Hmmm, and I tought that it was only in my dynasty that he had 41 + mpg... Hey Andrew, bring his stamina down to 50, OK?

Tue Apr 05, 2005 5:14 am

He could never average that many MPG in real life because he's always in foul trouble.

Tue Apr 05, 2005 6:52 am

^ And his stamina too!

btw... get Green!!!

Tue Apr 05, 2005 7:11 am

i said go for green... (and stop for red)

Tue Apr 05, 2005 7:43 am

green..? did i miss something?
