APRIL SUMMARY
Well, this is the last month of the season, and you all knew he was virtually impossible to make the playoffs, and you were right. It was a gallant last month though as the team went 4-3 for it's 2nd straight winning month in the franchise's history. After the All-Star break the team put up a winning record. It's a shame the team stunk it up prior to ASW.
It's been a good season, with improvements all around. Main surprise was the strong play of "That Guy", and he's become a fan favourite around the NLSC no doubt

. I think he's the frontrunner for ROY, especially after his superb month of April, which was probably the best month of basketball by a rookie bigman since Tim Duncan. Check out his stats for the month below.
As for the other players, Okafor was rock solid and despite not making All-Star team this season and his numbers dipping slightly, he did it with a lot less shots and a lot more efficiency. Look for 'Meka to continue to flourish in Bobcats' colours. Gerald Wallace was re-signed and expected to explode, but his game just never took off as he struggled to find his niche. However, after the ASW, Wallace seemed to come out of his shell and become more of a factor in games, and it's no surprise the team starting winning.
Gilbert Arenas was brought in from Washington to star at PG, but I felt he was a tad erractic, and never gave the team the leadership it so needed. Judging by his last couple of games this season (he averaged close to 30ppg and played clutch ball), things will improve from Arenas. Kyle Korver, another newcomer, started the season out as the starting SG and played well, but the team never got the W's, so he was replaced by 2nd Round draft pick, Andrew Watson, in the starting lineup. Funnily enough, Korver's production did not drop one bit, as he became a valuable 6th man.
Talking about Watson, he was never expected to be a factor this season as he provided a steady head and stroke from behind the arc. He's still got a lot of work to get his game to the level he wants to, but he's definitely got a future as an NBA player if he can find his niche. The 3rd and final rookie was Ben Tshibaka, who was left undrafted out of college, but the 'Cats saw something special in the kid and took a punt. Whilst Tshibaka has been mostly stranded on the IR this season, he really has shown that he has a future in the NBA as a backup PG.
Willie Green was brought in to backup at SG, but quickly got displaced by rookie Watson in that role. Green showed flashes of brilliance during the season but his inconsistency frustrated the team's coaching staff. Green's role is unknown for next season. Steve Blake was a late signing at PG to backup Arenas. He played sparingly until Arenas with down with injury. When this happenned, Blake stepped up bigtime for the 'Cats and helped the team turn it around one at a time.
Melvin Ely was once again a rock off the bench, backing up at PF and C, and looks to be part of the future in Charlotte. Luke Walton started season out as starting PF, but with the emergence of Guy Dumars, he moved to the bench as a 6th man, where he flourished. However, once Korver moved to the bench, Walton's minutes have slowly dwindled, however he remains a key cog off the bench. Othella Harrington had his moments, but was mostly on team for insurance. As was token big guys, Michael Bradley, and Watson's good mate, Sean Marks.
I think that covers all the players, if I missed anyone out, I apologise to them. If you hadn't already realised, the team finished the season 22-36, which equates to a pro-rated record of 31-51, which I think was a strong effort, especially considering at one point, I was something like 5-20 or something. Hope you all enjoyed the season, the off-season will be coming soonish.
