Making a manual follow-up dunk...

Postby jey-em on Mon Feb 10, 2003 1:49 am

i don't know if this was asked before but is there anybody here knows how to make a manual follow-up dunk like the players does in one-on-one mode? i could get the offensive rebounds but can only make a follow-up shot and not a follow-up dunk...hope there's someone who can tell me...thanks!

it IS possible...

Postby francis820 on Tue Feb 11, 2003 3:07 am

in my experience, it IS possible.. though it doesn't happen always, it usually occurs in 3 point or isolation gameplays because in those gameplays, the big men don't have the ball and they're free to rebound. also look out for your star players that has the dunk icon... they have more chances of a follow-up slam.

many times, my big men are poised for a follow-up slam but when i press the switch button, they pass it quickly to an open man below so the dunk never materializes.

just have faith man

:x Don't listen to him ... it's impossible for a human controlled player to do a rebound-dunk in a 5-on-5 game. It can only be done in 1-on-1.

The sooner you guys realize this ... the sooner EA will fix the problem. But since most of you want to live in a dream world hoping that "faith" will allow you to do a rebound-dunk, the problem will never be fixed

@Untalkative Bunny

Can be done, i've done it with Shaq on All Star. When you shoot a 3 or a far 2pointer choose shaq in case you miss, and rebound. He tips it back in IF he gets the rebound or comes down and dunks it back home or slams it right trough it. And when you're lucky the cpu does it for you.

Next time i'll make a screenshot when it occures again

 C'mon people ... the concept of a rebound dunk is not hard.

This is not a rebound dunk. I believe you are describing when the player grabs an offensive rebound and shoots (not dunks) the ball.

I believe you are describing when the player grabs an offensive rebound, lands from his jump, and then goes back up for the dunk. Again, this is not a rebound dunk.

You might be describing a rebound dunk here [unsure], but it's impossible to do rebound dunk, but refer to below.

Roland wrote: ... And when you're lucky the cpu does it for you.
How many times am I going to have to say "it's impossible for a human controlled player to do a rebound-dunk in a 5-on-5 game". We know the CPU can do a rebound dunk.

Sorry if it seems like I'm picking on you Roland, but if you're unsure what a rebound dunk is, it is when the player grabs an offensive rebound and dunks it all in one motion (without coming back down and jumping back up for the dunk).

But if you say you can do a rebound dunk with a human controlled player in NBA Live 2003, I'd love to see a screenshot of your player attempting a rebound dunk. When I say "your player," I mean a screenshot with a player doing the rebound dunk with a coloured reticle under him [coloured reticle signifies human player].

I know in the instant replay, the reticles are removed, but you can still take a screenshot (by pressing your Print Screen button and pasting the image into an image editor) while the rebound dunk is in progress. Sounds hard, but it's really the only way to prove that it is possible to do a rebound dunk with a human controlled player.

If you happen to achieve this and post your screenshot, then I stand corrected.

:? Man ... there's something about some of the members of this forum

i though they meant with follow-up dunk grabbing a rebound, then land and dunks it back home.

when they say a follow-up shot they shoot say tip-in, original temr.
when they say follow-up dunk, they should say rebound dunk or dunk it after the bounce.

Like saying grabbing the ball, could understand it differently.

And i know what normal terms are, i play basketball for +6 years now on almost national level, so you really dont have to learn me those.

and really, dont think im bumb, i know basketball better then you do. no offence ofcourse

Are you saying that you've done a rebound dunk with a human controlled player in a 5-on-5 game?
[Now, I want you to read the previous sentence atleast 5 times to make sure you understand the question. If you don't understand, I could rephrase it using different terms if you think that would help. Please, take special notice to the words: rebound dunk, human controlled player and 5-on-5 game]

Please ... take your time :)

LOL! Thanks ... I saw your reply from across the room.

Can you post a screenshot using the method I stated above?

I'll be eagerly waiting to see that screenshot ... but I really think you can't do it because it is impossible to attempt a rebound dunk in a 5-on-5 game.
[Deep inside, I hope I'm wrong and you are able to do it]

I greatly appreciate that you're making a GIF, but I know what a rebound dunk looks like [I see the computer doing it all the time]. Still, post it anyway :)

What I'd really like to see is a screenshot taken with your PRINT SCREEN key while your human player doing a rebound dunk. This way, you'll be able to prove that it's a human player and not the CPU (since in Instant Replay, the human icons are removed and you can't tell the difference between human and CPU players).

FYI: After you take the screenshot with PRINT SCREEN, just paste the image in any editor and save.

Or better yet, take a screenshot with PRINT SCREEN of an unsuccessful rebound dunk attempt by a human controlled player in a 5-on-5 game.

Thanks again :D

i'll try to do that but its hard to make a screenshot of a follow-up dunk, cuz you can't see if it is a follow-up dunk or a alley oop

The position of the ball in the air should differentiate a shot from an alley-oop... no?
