yep, Hrkac is an oxymoron if ever I've seen one  when I first played the Pacers this season I was like who's that thin black guy, it ain't Jonathon Bender is it as I thought he just went to the bench....eventually I worked out it was this Euro guy Hrkac....I was expecting a white guy to be honest :? I guess we shouldn't generalise should we :D

cheers for positive comments :P

it's been a while since you posted in this thread, but good to have you back nonetheless

as for your cyberface, yep I got it....using arroyo's headshape as mentioned....currently in process of dbf editing and add college and euro players so I am endeavouring to get to rookie scouting after All-Star break....hopefully....but it will happen

BREAKING DRAFT NEWS!!!

WAKE FOREST STAR PG CHRIS PAUL SPAWNS NBA

Deamon Deacon fans were jumping for joy as All-American PG Chris Paul announced earlier today that he would definitely be returning for another season. "I enjoy campus life and I'm so close to earning my degree," Paul said, "besides the NBA can wait one more year. It's not going anywhere and neither am I."

This shock announcement by Chris Paul came after the Rookie Challenge in which he watched his childhood friend Guy Dumars help lead the Rookie Stars to a victory over the Sophomore Stars.

What is so amazing about Paul's announcement is that it breaks away from the trend of underclassmen leaving school early. Furthermore, Chris Paul was the top PG and possibly the No. 1 prospect in the 2006 NBA Draft. It looks like the NBA will indeed have to wait.

Image
NBA suitors will have to wait on this stud PG for another year

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE REST OF THE DRAFT?

I've got a feeling you won't be able to wipe the smiles off a certain couple of potential draftees, namely Virginia Commonwealth star PG Cocobee and Otago University PG Mark "Match66" Moore. These 2 quality lead guards were effectively battling for the No. 2 ranking of PG behind Chris Paul. Now that Paul isn't in the draft, Cocobee and Moore are now the best point men available.

Image
Cocobee has serious pro game....

Image
And he's not afraid to pull out his signature plane dance

Image
Meanwhile Moore will be the 1st Kiwi ever to be drafted in the 1st Round....

Image
But how high can he go?!? Only time will tell

Magic to Charles : "Oh, That Guy, well That Guy's Ok but that guy next to him is better"
Charles to Magic : "Which guy, That Guy or that guy?"
Magic to Charles : "That guy, the guy next to That Guy"

off the top of the head I remember cocobee requesting more guy, and I just took a spin off that and went with it....it's got more significance considering he's a randomly generated guy....I'm actually glad I got a draft class of random players in before adding college, Euro and NLSC players....

not sure how to do it as not a cyberface dynamo at all....try asking around....it might be as easy as getting some hair_B/C/D.ebo's in there although I wouldn't know....let me know....

jxuusa wrote:and yeah, coco and match should be happy, now he can win ROTY, maybe

don't be so sure about that....there are a couple of higher ranked college/Euro prospects that they'll beat out....a lot will depend on where they end up getting drafted....and don't be so quick to count yourself out of the race just yet....

c0nr4d wrote:thanks for the shoutout X! If you're ever in need of my expertise again, i'd be obliged to lend them to you

np, chances are I'll be calling on in my next season....

c0nr4d wrote:btw: ur dynasty is friggin awesome!!!

cheers, the more viewers the better

but I can't take credit for Chris Paul's great cyberface as it was made by Mikki and can be found at http://4th-quarter.nbafiles.com/portal.php

Mikki and a couple of other guys (lobshy, homeboy, etc) are doing a great job putting together cyberfaces for future draftees and I and many other dynasty owners appreciate it a lot :D

go to http://www.nbaliveforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=21266 to check out their work and make requests....

yeah baby! R.O.Y., here I come. Hey I told you not to tell people about the plane dance.

come on man, you knew the cameras were there, you just couldn't help yourself

but in all seriousness, you guys should really benefited from a weak PG draft....the draft has many bigs (Bogut, etc) and SG's but ain't so strong at SF and PG....

cocobee wrote:I'm glad Paul decided to stay, he needs to learn how to read anyway!Me and Match might be the next Magic vs Larry rivals!

yep, I can just picture that....the future of the NBA rest on the shoulders of 2 point guards, one from Virginia Commonwealth and one from New Zealand

cocobee wrote:solid as always

I'll take that :proud:

ALL-STAR COVERAGE ('05/06)

3 POINT SHOOTOUT

We have arrived at the event where all the 3 point marksmen come together and get it on to decide who is the best in the league. Let's start by looking at who's going to be competing this year.

Image

Looking at the lineup that the league put together, they definitely have got it wrong this year. Outside of Peja and maybe Rashard Lewis, this contest is devoid of pure shooters. Instead they have been replaced by what I call the "launchers". The "launchers" are led by Baron Davis and Antoine Walker, who are widely renowned for not being shy at launching a 3 whenever they get the opportunity. Either way, this might suit them as it will be one time that the fans won't be groaning everytime they launch another ill-advised trey.

Without further ado, let's see how this year's 3 Point Shootout panned out.

Image
G.A. is having an up-and-down year for the 'Cats, can he restore some pride for the brood

Image
Arenas started off strong and made the 1st 4 money balls, but fell off at the end to record a credible score of 20

Image
Hey Peja, here's a word for you: akunamatada....it means no worries and you definitely shouldn't have any

Image
He was obviously listening as Peja scored an incredible 27 points, and until his missed the last money ball, he had hit an unconscious 22 in a row!!!

Image
"Hey Frodo, it's time to wake up!!! No snoozing on the job"

Image
Frodo never woke up as he scored a disappointing 13

Image
"I swear as a Member of the Launcher's Club to throw up at least 10 3 point shots per game for the rest of my career"

Image
After breaking out of his regular season shooting funk in the 1st rack, Davis actually put together a good finish, but it wasn't enough to advance

Image
Last season's MVP seems to be getting in on all the festivities these days

Image
'Toine sunk like his team always does behind his 3 pointers as he missed his last 9 out of 10 to bow out of the competition

Image
Is that MJ masquerading as Eddie?!? If it is then I guess he's trying to win the one title that has eluded him

Image
Jones go crazy as he hits his last 24 shots as the crowd goes bananas!!! "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie"

Image
Come on Rashard. I know it's been like a Black Hole in Seattle but it really is time to come out of the dark

Image
Lewis just never got it going on this day. I guess he shoulda stayed in the dark

Image
Rafer's smirking cos he thinks a win today will get him on the first flight out of Toronto

Image
Skip was inspired, but he wasn't money when it counted on the money balls. Guess it's back to obscurity in Toronto

Image
Peja and Jones easily advance through to the Finals on the back of their stellar outings.

Image
Eddie Jones started the final off by laying down the gauntlet as he hit 24 out of 25 balls. This unbelievable display has Eddie almost guaranteed the title. "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie"

Image
After watching Eddie's display, Peja came out spook and had already lost the title early in the 2nd rack. Things went downhill from there for the former champion

Image
It's no contest as Eddie destroys Peja in the final round

Image
MJ, I mean Eddie, gets the title but seems happy to keep his face in hiding

So there you go folks, the Miami Heat's swingman Eddie Jones has surprised us all here today as he made a contest-record 55 out of a possible 60 points to beat out his favoured Serbian rival, Peja Stojakovic of the Kings.

Congratulations to the 2006 3 Point Shootout Champion, Eddie Jones :applaud:

EDDIE, EDDIE, EDDIE!!!!

(Y) I already had figured that....that's just a bit of my self-deprecating humour that a lot of Aussies and Kiwis have....take the piss/mickey out of oneself for a laugh :D

as for the dynasty....I think the likes of Bogans and Jason Hart just didn't inspire the imagination  but as I'm playing a game or writing a recap I change it half-way through to bring in new ideas....

like the Rookie Head-to-Head....Chris Paul's announcement....and a few other things....it really has picked up steam since the playoff coverage....

cheers for compliments....they weren't needed but always appreciated....

ALL-STAR COVERAGE ('05/06)

SLAM DUNK CONTEST

It's time to fly baby!!! After last year's disappointing field, the NBA put up $1 million prize money for the winner, and the carrot did the job. Two of the best dunkers of all-time, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James, face off against each other to determine who is truly the best. Let's check out the other contenders, or should I say pretenders?!?

Image

Joining LBJ and Kobe are returning high-flyers Gerald Wallace and Kenyon Martin, who both have something to prove after disappointing outings in previous years.

Without further ado let's head over to the arena for the action....

Image
Will Wallace crumble under the bright lights once again?!?

Image
Another day, another million for Bron Bron?!?

Image
What's this?!? The crowd is cheering Kobe!!! Maybe all will forgiven if Kobe can recreate the magic from his rookie year

Image
Or can Kenyon bring it home for all the big men out there?!?

ROUND 1

DUNK 1

Gerald Wallace
Image
Dunk: Toss to shotclock, catches mid-air and goes in for a nasty 2-handed reverse pump jam
Verdict: This Dominique-like dunk started the comp off nicely, but Gerald will have to be disappointed with the 47

Lebron James
Image
Dunk: Behind-the-back toss, catches ball mid-air and does 1-handed dunk that showed off his hops
Verdict: LBJ can't be happy with his start as 45 just doesn't cut it. It was nice, but I feel like he played it safe and it cost him

Kobe Bryant
Image
Dunk: Copied LBJ's toss, caught it in mid-air, immediately put it through legs, and finished it off with a one-handed slam
Verdict: Unbelievable!!! Perfect 50!!! One of the best dunks you'll ever see. Was perfectly executed and Kobe is money from the get-go

Kenyon Martin
Image
Dunk: Tossed the ball over his shoulder, kicked it with his foot to the sight screen. Went up got it and windmilled it home
Verdict: We all knew some new tricks would be shown, but we never expected it from K-Mart. This was too freaky to believe. A once-in-a-lifetime dunk. Perfect 50

DUNK 2

Gerald Wallace
Image
Dunk: Toss to camera and catches rebound and goes in for a hard 1-handed windmill slam
Verdict: Disappointing dunk. It really lacked originality and just didn't get the crowd buzzing. He only deserved a 44, and it looks like his comp is as good as over

Lebron James
Image
Dunk: Facing away from the basket, bounces between his legs towards basket, spins, gets aerial and grabs rebound and does a crazy one-handed slam in which he holds on to rim by elbow.
Verdict: It's about time Lebron, this is what we paid to see. Absolutely superb!!! Perfect 50!!! Let's hope we see more of it

Kobe Bryant
Image
Dunk: Underhand toss, Kobe goes aerial and extends a long way to grab ball, and goes into a reverse tomahawk
Verdict: This was a real nice dunk, from the hops to get to the ball to the nice finish. A solid effort that got him a 48, but was it worth it?!? Either way, he's into the Final Round

Kenyon Martin
Image
Dunk: Backwards toss over his head to the video screen, K-Mart stetches way out with his right-hand and he threw it down real hard
Verdict: Where has K-Mart been learning these dunks. This was a real nice dunk that was executed perfectly. Who knew he had it in him, and it was well worthy of a 50. He's now only 2 dunks away from $1 mill

Image
K-Mart and Kobe move forward with 2 good dunks, but why did LBJ have to play it safe on his 1st dunk?!? As for Wallace, he just wasn't as good as the rest, as simple as that

FINAL ROUND

DUNK 1

Kobe Bryant
Image
Dunk: Little kick toss, catches it in mid-air, goes through the legs as he 360s, and finishes it off with 1-hand
Verdict: Woah, woah!!! Kobe lays the guantlet down to K-Mart with this perfect 50!!! This dunk was nothing short of superb. Woah!!!

Kenyon Martin
Image
Dunk: Notmal toss, goes very high to get it, 180s and finishes with a 1-handed extension
Verdict: K-Mart got sold short, he got robbed!!! Only a 47?!? The crowd let out a chorus of boos as judges pulled out the scores. This was a terrific dunk, and deserved a 50.

DUNK 2

Kobe Bryant
Image
Dunk: Swiggle then backwards toss from side, off the backboard, Kobe chases it down and goes up and stretches out with his left hand, collects it, and throws it down with such anger and ferocity
Verdict: Game, Set, Match Mr. Bryant. What a dunk, he deserved this score and he takes the title amid the controversy over K-Mart's last dunk

Kenyon Martin
Image
Dunk: He tosses it to his virtual self, bounces off the video board, catches it in mid-air, and goes in for a swinging, reverse windmall jam
Verdict: With the competition over, K-Mart finishes it off in style with this effort that scored him another perfect 50. I don't think this one was worth 50, it wasn't as good as the last one, and this was probably a make-up score from the judges

Image
Kobe Bryant really stepped it up in the final round as it narrowly beat out the surprising Kenyon Martin for the title

Image
Kobe put all the past drama behind him and appears to have won back a few fans on the way

That does us for this year's edition of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. It was disappointing to not see LBJ in the Finals for a dream showdown, but K-Mart did superbly in his place and almost stole the title away from the showmen. Looks like Kobe is one mill richer. Pay off some of his wife's diamond ring. It's been a great night but is time to go.

Congratulations go the 2006 Slam Dunk Champion, Kobe Bryant :applaud:
