help! superstar free agents signing for league minimum!

Postby j0hn21 on Wed Jan 29, 2003 10:18 pm

is anyone having problem with superstar like kidd, duncan, and rasheed wallace not re-signing then signing somewhere else for league minimum. this is very annoying. other average players who has ratings from 70 - 85 signs or re-sign for their right value. but superstars especially kidd duncan and wallace always signs for league minimum. i must've simulated a whole season about 20 times and i always get the same result. i've even edited the salary cap and edited everyone's real salary using toolkit. sometimes i would even control new jersey, san antonio, but kidd and duncan would always refuse to re-sign. then when season starts, they sign for league minimum. i dont really care if they always choose to sign with other team but them signing for league minimum is what bothers me. its very annoying especially when the spurs is really my team. i can only use tim duncan for 1 year then he's gone even though we made the finals that year and he's league mvp.

Yes, it's one of the issues in Franchise Mode that needs to be addressed, free agent signing/re-signing being too random, allowing superstars to jump ship for the minimum.

i agree. This problem has been always been overlooked in the game. But...how would they solve it? I'm sure they will think of something that would give more value to the game.

but how would u have to finish the season to get such a player at minimum??

i think it has to do something with the date ur first game, if ur game is the first then u will get the first FA pick, but i think somehow the cpu still gets them 1st?~

If you're one of the first games on the newly generated schedule, then you have a chance at signing stars for the minimum. I simulated a few seasons to see if the problem continued year to year. I managed to come up with this team by 2006, all through signing stars to the minimum then re-signing them long-term the next season:

Hopefully it's fixed in Live 2004.

This shows what the weakest positions in the game are, when your two lowest rated players are starting for you
