WANT KILL!!!!!
NBA Live is so damned frustrating. They lied terribly when they said they eliminated the comeback code and fixed the problem with fastbreaks. They handle athleticism terribly... there are no guards out there who lumber along like Shawn Bradley and can't get past the timeline in fewer than 5 seconds... Similarly, the dribbling is terrible.
The coding where when you ahve a really good team and you play a bad team, the computer makes it impossible for you to win without cheating, that needs to go away as well. I SHOULD blow out bad teams, they SUCK!!
The mid-range shot? Impossible to make, apparently. THe pull-up jumper? Might as well not take it. Same with any shot in the lane. Anytime the defender is in the way, the computer forces me to take this dirty, ridiculous and utterly unrealistic twisting contortion shot that never goes in, ever. I just want a jump hook (not a skyhook, a jump hook) or a fadeaway.
Shot-blocking is retarded; the guys who programmed the shot-blocking in this game have apparently never watched an NBA game; Jason Richardson does not often block jump-shooters. In fact, perimeter shots are almost NEVER blocked. If it's Dikembe Mutombo or someone tall coming out, it's a little more understandable but there's a reason most guards average less than a single block per game... Argh.
Post moves. This game is absolutely abysmal for post moves. I want to have a guaranteed, go-to button for the spin, not a combo button that 90% of the time screws me over by jumping into the defender when a spin would leave them high and dry; that's especially irritating. Better control on the block is necessary.
Not so much clogging! There's no space to do anything, the CPU crowds everywhere, unrealistically.
Rebounds; the player's team doesn't. When the ball lands near them, they don't actually move towards it. That needs to be implemented. I get most of my rebounds controlling my post players, which is irritating; some help from my useless CPU teammates would be nice.
The pick-and-roll; doesn't work properly in this game. The player almost always sets the pick on the wrong side and rarely rolls all the way to teh hoop if the play is begun far out on the wing. This is wrong.
More off-ball movement; the "dynamic" offense is crap. It needs to be fixed.
I liked the challenges from Live 2001, where you had to accomplish certain goals and such to unlock things. Heck, even if they're just stupid points to get retro jerseys and such...
Realistic rotations would be nice, when simming games. That'd be good.
Crossovers at realistic speeds would be nice. You do NOT slow down NEARLY that much when you crossover. In fact, sometimes you end up going faster. The dribbling speeds need to be adjusted.
Also, these player forcefields are really irritating me.
For example, when I go for a block, I do not want my shot-blocker to be forced AWAY from the player; that's stupid and physically impossible. You do not jump AWAY from a player to block his shot. You jump towards him and occasionally collide. Sometimes it's a foul, mostly it isn't.
Passes; the CPU passes so unintelligently it makes my head hurt. Make a bounce pass, fire a bullet pass instead of those high, looping passes that are always stolen...
Passing to a player on the move shouldn't slow them down as it has for the duration of this game franhise...
In-game saves would be nice. Bringing back the screen that showed you what a play was would be good; why'd they ever get rid of that? When you're in a game and trying to figure out how to run a play, you should be able to see it...
I wouldn't mind being able to diagram my own plays but that's not vital.
The ratings system needs to be overhauled; each stat should NOT be weighted the same. Athleticism should be considered less heavily, shooting skills, offensive awareness, etc should be rated more heavily. The baseline of player athleticism should be HIGHER because most NBA players are at least above average athletes (and especially of late, spectacular athletes even though they've no actual skills).
Free throws need to be fixed; they're usually too easy but sometimes you get that angle where you can't see the box and it's very difficult to hit them. Irritating.
I like that Career Mode idea, that was sweet.
I'm sure there are other things but I can't remember and it's late so I'm going to bed. Nyah.
