Are your video drivers up to date? If not, get the latest drivers from your video card developer's website.

Are you using any USB devices under Windows 98? If so, go to the the official NBA Live 2003 website and download the official patch.

Updated drivers should ensure your system is compatible with NBA Live 2003, if that's the problem.

You can find updated drivers at the video card developer's website. You can download these and install them to update your system.

hmmm man the problem is you are trying to run it on maximum... you cant get to maximum details with a 64mb radeon card get serious you need a stronger card... I'm having about the same computer details as you and I have geforce 2 400mx 64mb and I am thanksfull for running it on medium settings :P...

Portugal Dunker... LOL...

Your computer seems to be good... If you could get a better graphic card, you would run it on max settings...

That would depend on the graphics card you're using..specifically which Ati card?
Generally..I'd say start with the lowest resolution (640x480) and medium detail..if that's fine..work your way up and try 800x600...then 1024x768. Don't put it to low detail unless at 640x480 medium detail it is too slow (<20fps). It's god awful ugly at low detail and should be used as your last resort.

Set everything to Medium detail. If it still runs bad, turn off Crowd Animation and your game should run pretty good.

Eh? My specs:

866 mhz sony vaio
384 MB RAM
GeForce2 MX 400 32 MB
etc.

And I run the game on 1280x1024, 32-bit, and highest on everything (except for something stupid like bench detail or something).

my computer is weakker than yours, (maybe except for the video card- mine is geforce 2 400mx), and the game runs quite good, and looks not bad at all.
the machine- Intel pIII 800 + 192Mb sdram
the settings:
players- maximum
everything else- low
res- 800x600

The smoothness of the Game is different for different people...

It's relative... some people conscider 25fps smooth..
Other like stuff to stay above 40
Others want it above 60...

I have a Radeon 9700 Pro athlon 1.4 and I use most settings at MAX and get between 36-70 fps.. depending on the action...

Some TIps:

NEVER put bench player detail at max...
It is a waste of processing power, use medium or low...

Put Lighting and Shadows at Medium...

Put Player Detail at ONE setting lower than MAX, you can barely see the difference...
