Downloading Problem- Help

Here is my problem, since i got my new computer it is not set-up the same way as my last computer for downloading files. When i click on a patch to download most of the time it goes through the download process and then straight to open winzip for viewing and then when i close winzip it is gone. So to get around this i have been downloading most files by right clicking and "save target as"................... but not all sites can this be done, such as File planet and a few of these third party sites. Don Daily's site is one and the main download engine for NLSC, which is File planet.
I need to know how to get my computer configured to download files as the last one did?
Why is it when i left click on a file, instead of giving me the option to save it automatically download then open's WINZIP?
