Something you may have noticed in NBA Live 2000

In NBA Live 2000, some of the rookies have jersey numbers in the 80s due to being late additions to the game but what if I told you that 4 non-rookie players (including an N64 exclusive player) were also affected by having jersey numbers in the 80s in the game, the following players are:

Lorenzen Wright (RIP, real jersey number: #42, in-game jersey number: #80)
Othella Harrington (Real jersey number: #24, in-game jersey number: #81)
Michael Dickerson (Real jersey number: #8, in-game jersey number: #80)
Duane Ferrell (N64 exclusive, real jersey number: undecided, in-game jersey number: #81, jersey number listed as undecided due to Ferrell's retirement soon after the trade back to Atlanta in 1999, likely was gonna be #33 if he didn't retire then, bc of his retirement, he is absent in the PS1 and PC versions due to those versions using rosters based on after his retirement)

These numbers are likely placeholder numbers as these players were likely added late in the game or they forgot to change the jersey numbers of these players though Duane Ferrell has a different story, thankfully these numbers can be changed though on the console versions, a player must be made modifiable before their jersey numbers can be changed, I have a picture of Lorenzen Wright (RIP) with default settings on the PC version of NBA Live 2000 below.

Early roster cut-off dates and the lack of official updates have left us with a few of those placeholder numbers over the years. It's been a while since I heavily tinkered with the NBA Live 2000 PC rosters, so I'd forgotten about them (while recalling the rookies who had placeholder numbers, because that always sticks out in my memory).

Yeah, in fact, some of the rookies on NBA Live 2000 did have their proper jersey numbers, like Jason Terry, who had his proper #31 by default

I'd forgotten that a couple of rookies did have correct numbers when I wrote my article the other week, probably because Elton Brand and Lamar Odom are the ones that stick out in my mind. I was excited to download proper faces for them back in the day.
