How Do I Open Portrait Files To View?

Postby Stildo33 on Sun Mar 25, 2018 6:44 am

If there is a tutorial on this, I've missed it. How do I view .iff files for portraits that I've recently added to a mod folder for example?

You import them the same way I show in my portrait tutorial.

1. Open 2K17 explorer
2. Find a portrait you want to overwrite (one you don't care about)
3. Open in iff editor
4. Import your portrait over the portrait of the player
5. Extract the file to the modded folder (using the off editor still, I believe it's under "file" in the top left hand corner)?
6. Go into your game and use limnono modifier, assign the portrait ID to the player

Sorry - What is the .iff editor do you use? I have the paint one you use. Do I need an extension or something?

You are confusing things a little, or I'm not fully understanding.

My tutorial above was how to import and view them in game.

Paint.net is the program to make the portrait. In order to make the portrait, you need the size and dimensions from an in game portrait. You can extract a portrait using NBA 2K17 explorer. That is also the tool you use to create your portrait file (like my tutorial above). That file is than extracted into the modded folder.

If you watch my video tutorial, you will see how I use NBA 2K17 explorer to find the portraits, view them, and extract them.

Yeah, I might not be asking the question correctly. Say I make a brand new roster. I decide to make 100 portraits for players. I want to share these with the 2k community and everyone downloads them to put in their modded folder. How does one view these files to see the portraits that are created, without going into the game or is that even possible?

They can use 7 zip to open the .iff file, and just double click on the portrait inside. It will ask them which photo program they want to open it with, or it will open with what they have set to default.

The portrait file is inside the portrait.iff file
