The exe file is the one responsible for telling if anim x or y is triggered depending on the situation (which is different than an aiact file, for example, present on NBA Live 2004-08). So if we back up our executable, we good. I'm backing up next year's exe file from day one.

Exactly.
You know how people felt stuck in the mud after the patches? When you use an older .exe (I use the one from December) the players are not stuck in the mud at all.
It's a no brainer to back them up.

Last exe 1.12 solve the double team after 7 points issue...how you can play the game with older .exe and this gamebreaker not solved?

This will sound strange... but the rest of the gameplay is so bad after these patches, that I can deal with it. I have a far better experience with the earlier .exes.

I like first .exe more too...and I've a great news: I think they solved Double Teams issue throught a ACE update![]()
You will get double teams only on late game situation or if you have hot streak...no more double teams just after 7 points...
So keeping old .exe with updated roster and game update works great for me...

im with tbm on this one. when there's a patch, it's not just the exe that updates, but the game files as well (y'all know this). it iust doesn't make sense that using an older exe changes things back to old.

I know for a fact it makes a huge difference, the gameplay is night and day. It's not even close. It's the reason videos that I upload now that I have the first step burst that they took out. The game is unejoyable with the new exe. It's enjoyable with the old ones.

I guess i'll have to create a back-up then.. u get why I'm skeptical tho, right? you would think that you'd have to have a separate install to play a diff version of the game.

Of course, but as CarolusXCI said above, the .exe is responsible for the x and ys, the animations. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, I was going to go back to NBA 2k14 after the patches, until I found my backups. It changed the game for me.
People comment on my videos asking why the gameplay looks so good, or why it looks free. It's because it's the pre patch gameplay.I adjusted the sliders as well, but the biggest reason is the pre patch .exe.

I thought on day 1 the game played well and the patches that followed eroded the quality. Until today I didn't realize how much worse the game had gotten.
It is definitely much more enjoyable to play now.

I did play a 2007 Cavs vs 2007 Knicks last night with 1.03 exe and latest ACE / Roster updated...the game was beautiful and I really like how Physical momentum is done and present in 1.03....Lebron was a monster to stop for the Knicks
I also hex edited teams colors since with that .exe you can still have them changed without any override.....Overall I love this setup but I will look forward for 2k18.....in the waiting I'm having some huge games with 2k17
