Introducing some of the 2017-18 Rookies! Special thanks to R4zoR and TGsoGood for their work. Each rookie will have ratings, tendencies, badges, accessories, salaries and signatures that are both accurate and incorporate each into the roster seamlessly. We have spent numerous hours on all aspects of every player in the roster to get them to play like their NBA counterpart. Regarding rookies, Dennis Smith will look to drive and throw it down, Lonzo Ball looks to make ridiculous feeds, and Malik Monk will spot up from three.

Note: Players numbers are not final and merely reflect potential or previously used numbers by the players. Once portraits and official numbers are released they will be added to ensure that the roster is authentic.

Hey guys! As we near a release on the roster, I was looking to release a few previews. Each player on an NBA roster will have a portrait and many have improved or correct cyberfaces. Some free agents (which we have a rather large number of as well) have custom portraits and cyberfaces too. There are even some surprises in the free agent pool. Below you'll find just some examples of the hours put into the roster. If you look closely you'll see that each player may have a different, and frankly more realistic rating than their 2k counterpart. We are really hoping you all enjoy the final product.

We also personally updated the textures of some of AdvinXcola's quality cyberfaces so they blend into the realistic 2k experience we were seeking.

Fred Van Fleet

Image

Derrick Jones Jr.

Image

Brice Johnson (edited a 2k cyberface, not the greatest my own creation)

Again we hope you guys enjoy the results and we would be happy to any questions about the roster, unrelated to the release date of course :)

Beyond the 3D logos for teams who have changed their logos for next year, are there any other files beyond the roster file that we'd have to download to get the full roster/package as you guys intend?

There will be a mod pack consisting of several cyberfaces, all of the portraits, new jerseys, new logos, and off-season graphics (updates the off-season pictures to more current iterations). It will basically make your game look as close to 2k18 as possible while you wait for the new game. Also thanks to the realistic attributes, accessories and tendencies. players will play more like their real world counterparts than in the generic 2k roster.

when you guys upload the files can you guys split up the files.
For example, the Portraits can be downloaded seperately from jereseys and so.
Maybe it could be released as

Team graphics Pack (Jerseys, logos, team art)
Player graphics pack (CFs and portraits)

I can understand if you guys choose not to go this route.

Absolutely, I think this is a good idea to avoid confusion and help people sort through the files.

For those of you who were wondering about the numbers, here are some post-game stats of a User (Me playing the Raptors) vs. CPU ( Pelicans).

Even though it looks absolutely wonderful already IMHO, this is still a pre-release version of the roster. Once we get it done, the numbers can only get better. Like for example, I can assure you guys that after we finish the tendencies for the Pelicans, those FTA will increase for the CPU to around 20-30. Also, the assists number will decrease because at this very moment, 32 assists is a realistic number only if you use the freaking Warriors.

Also, if you look at Lowry, even though I will give you a little spoiler and tell you that he is one of the top 5 rated 3pt shooters in the current roster, I shot just 3 out of 11 with him because this roster + Crewe's sliders really punish you if you take bad, contested shots (that's what I did, I felt a little bit too lucky). One or two of those contested shots will go in from time to time, but you have to take smart, open shots if you really want those 3PT baskets to drop.

On an extra note, if you ever heard from real players that the corner threes are the most easy 3PT shots to make because the distance between you and the basket is the most favorable, that also applies with our roster. If you jump into practice mode ( or an actual exhibition game), you'll notice most players (not Sharpshooters like Curry or Gordon who can make everything, anytime) are most likely to make those corner threes rather than those top left-middle-right 3PT shots.

If you are feeling lucky, you might make one in 15-20 3PT shots from the corner, even if you are using the most unlikely 3PT shot makers like Tristan Thompson or Jonas Valanciunas. That's because even though they brick 5 ft. shots in real life, they might score a 3PT shot once a season when they are desperate to take a shot off ( just before the end of a quarter for example). That doesn't mean it's a good idea to use those kind of players regularly for 3PT shot attempts, you'd just use your chances in vain and our fatigue system will ruin your flow of the game. Just use those players when you absolutely must to and you might pull the winning lottery ticket that time (that's what I did a few days ago when I hit a corner 3PT winning shot with Alex Len).

Really loving the rating previews, exactly what I was looking for.

Is there anything special you need to do to have the rotations work that well? For example, if we do an association with this roster would it be difficult to keep the rotations accurate?

Yup. It's all thanks to Schnaidt1's rotation method. He has some very specific rules to make the most authentic rotations happen on court (you won't see 5 guys subbed in at a time, you'll usually see 1 to 3 guys like in real life). We will be sharing that once we release the roster. All 30 rotations for every NBA team were made using that method, but if you want to play MyLeague, you'll probably have to redo your rotations after a trade.
Unluckily, the CPU will reset their rotations anytime a minor thing happens to their roster. You can't control that with one big, omnipresent move. The only way to manage those is to actually control every team and keep those rotations accurate for the whole league by yourself. You don't have to do it for the simmed games, I don't think Schnaidt1's method has any effect in that area. His method was made for actual gameplay. So before every game, if you want to play that specific matchup instead of simming it, you'll have to check both your rotation and the CPU's to see if the rules were broken. That is a little bit of work, but 100% worth it for those who have patience and keep their league realistic.

will you show us how to stagger the minutes? for example on GSW, I would want some rotations where it's KD with the bench while Curry, Klay and Draymond sit... and sometimes a moment in the 3rd Q they go really small... etc

From what I can remember when I was using GSW, KD playing with the bench happens a lot. Because of the various positions of the GSW players, the small ball "lineup of death" ( Curry, Thompson, Iguodala, Durant, Green) hasn't been spotted by me in a number of games. I guess that''s only achievable using the custom rotations in ML, where you select the players on the court during a specific quarter. The rotation method we are using will be a nice base for that though.

So what I will do for you guys is to post the rotation method and teach you how to use it. You'll get the hang of it in 2 minutes, trust me. Once you get those done, you will have nice games with realistic rotations. If you want to go deeper and make custom lineups, you'll still have to use the method as a base. If you guys really want to take a peak, check SCHNAIDT's thread, you'll find it in the credits section of my first post

To answer your question from another thread about a roster in Start Today:

1. Download Limino's Modifer: http://www.mediafire.com/file/0ebabtb0e ... 1+-+16.rar

2. Run the modifier

3. Start up 2k17

4. Press the F1 key

5. Make sure you have downloaded the roster you want to use

6. Load the roster you want and while still in the roster press the F3 key

7. Start your "Start Today" franchise

* Just a word of caution, if you plan on using Shuajota's roster just be warned the rookies need some work. Their ratings are too high and will jack up a potential franchise mode play through down the road. Also all their colleges are incorrect so I would advise you edit at least the ratings if you want an authentic franchise mode.
