What makes this mod “sim”? Here are a few of the features that set this project apart from all others:

- Every art file (jerseys, arenas, cyberfaces, accessories, courts, dornas (advertisement at half court), etc is realistic and none will crash game play
- There is no missing art file in the entire project

Every player in every roster has:
- Accurate statistical ratings and tendencies to work with 2k's simulation engine while still providing realistic game play
- Realistic ratings and tendencies that affect game play but not the simulation engine ie dribbling, athletic ratings, post tendencies, etc.
- Realistic physical attributes that decrease after major injuries or as the player gets older
- Accurate play types
- Accurate contracts

- Accurately updated Coaching profiles and playbooks

- Draft classes that have realistic player information for every player

- A few slider sets designed to be a base for realistic game play

OK, guys, I have something to share and I need some feedback.

I started editing potential based on Med's formula (thanks, Med!)

The problem is, the way REDmc explains peak year start and peak year end is incorrect. REDmc describes peak age start as being when the player begins improving the most and peak year end as being when the player stops improving. However, this is not true. I just ran three different tests and this is what I found.

Players who are younger than their peak years and who's potential rating is greater than their overall rating will improve UNTIL THEIR PEAK YEARS BEGIN.

Players who are in their peak years WON'T IMPROVE AT ALL.

Players who are after their peak years WILL DECREASE REGARDLESS OF AGE.

What do you guys and gals think I should do with this information? Med, I think you were definitely onto something with the formula you developed but I also think it needs to be tweaked. In the sims I ran (with the 1985 roster), Barkley, Stockton, Jordan, and the other rookies I checked improved to their max rating (where their overall was equal to their potential) by the beginning of their 4th season. This was with all players having a peak age range of 26-29. This means that NO players (with playing time) would improve after their first 3 or 4 years in the league.

It's weird im not sure why, but the way you explained it as being is how I always took it when editing. Maybe I just never read the vlad description of it. "Players who are in their peak years WON'T IMPROVE AT ALL" seemed like common sense to me. So I always just tried to adjust peak start and peak end accurately for each player and let the game go from there. Good find though, now we all know for sure. (Y) The idea to adjust fringe players who never had improvements or "PEAKS" is a great one.

Listen, everybody. I'm about to blow a gasket. I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but I think I just learned that potential has NO effect on the trade engine. I just ran a series of tests. Here are the notes.

I set all players in the 1985 roster to 25 potential. Every single trade I propose is accepted immediately. All players can be traded for all players straight up. So, I think, "this is because potential is the same for all players". So, I raise Bakley's potential to 99 and keep Jordan's at 25. Barkley's overall is 89 and Jordan's is 90 and I'm thinking, "There is no way Chicago accepts this trade offer". Guess what happens? CHICAGO ACCEPTS THE TRADE!

Now I'm wondering, "Does potential affect trades at all?!?!?!?!"

Then I offer Charles Jones (35 YO and 64 overall with 25 potential) from Chicago for Barkley (22 YO and 89 overall with 99 potential) straight up. Philly approves the trade

So, I restart the association thinking the trade system is jacked up because all teams are set to user control even though I set all AI control to "yes". I select only Philly. All other teams are computer controlled to the max. I select this guy named G. Johnson who is 28 years old, 57 overall, 25 potential (the lowest rated player on Philly's roster) and offer him straight up for Jordan who was 22 years old, 90 overall, 25 potential. Guess what happens. Chicago accepts the trade!

Last try

I will raise Jordan's potential to 99 and try the same trade. I offer G Johnson with 57 overall and 25 potential for Jordan with 90 overall and 99 potential. Chicago accepts the trade AGAIN.

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN

If somebody could help me understand why the only variable that appears to matter in trades is whether one of the teams is over the salary cap it would be great.

I'm pretty much over editing potential if this is the case.

I've had CPU Trading off in Association or Season for ALL sports games for as long as I can remember sadly. Isn't potential still important for season by season development though?

HOLD ON....because i dont believe slimm at all :) i must check it and hes right. Is it possible that 2k Sports forgot to add reject offers to the game code? i mean RLY 2K? Im not a big fan of fantasy trading during seasons, im always playing with cpu trades off or with user controlling all 30 teams. And now after four years i ( well slimm did) discover HUGE BUG. I thought it was my rosters issue, so i load up 2k roster and guess what i have Kobe, LBJ, Wade, Paul in philly traded for philly bench players. HOW STUPID IT IS ?!

I am lost. I understand trade logic accepting a 55 overall player (25 potential) and cpu team sending a 55 overall (99 potential). But how in the world do cpu teams accept sending bryant for a bench player? Because my CPU will always reject that trade.

I don't know but I just went through several rosters and proposed several trades during association mode and didn't see the CPU reject one trade offer regardless of how absurd it was. If there are any other posters reading this, if you would try to offer the CPU some absurd trades and post your findings, I'd appreciate it.

What makes this mod “sim”? Here are a few of the features that set this project apart from all others:

- Every art file (jerseys, arenas, cyberfaces, accessories, courts, dornas (advertisement at half court), etc is realistic and none will crash game play
- There is no missing art file in the entire project

Every player in every roster has:
- Accurate statistical ratings and tendencies to work with 2k's simulation engine while still providing realistic game play
- Realistic ratings and tendencies that affect game play but not the simulation engine ie dribbling, athletic ratings, post tendencies, etc.
- Realistic physical attributes that decrease after major injuries or as the player gets older
- Accurate play types
- Accurate contracts

- Accurately updated Coaching profiles and playbooks

- Draft classes that have realistic player information for every player

- A few slider sets designed to be a base for realistic game play

I just loaded the 1993 roster and I think I found something. No matter who I try to trade for and who I try to trade, as long as this the same amount of players going to and from each team, it gets the green light.

For instance, I can trade Jerry Reynolds for either Jordan or Pippen but not both. However, I can trade Literrial Green, Jerry Reynolds, Greg Kite, and Chris Corchiani for Jordan, Pippen, Payton, and Kemp because I there is an equal number of players going to and leaving each team. I can also trade Greg Kite for Olajuwon straight-up.

Also, it doesn't look like draft picks matter at all. I can trade Jerry Reynolds for Jordan, two 1sts, and a 2nd round pick.

Love the research u guys are doing ! What becomes more and more clear is that 2k messed up... The game would be some much better if not for the flaud trade system. Hope this is somehow not hardcoded and we are able to change this. ( im not a computernerd so sorry for bad terminology )..

Thanks for the research Slimm... Hope that u guys will keep modding this epic game the coming year. I will try to do some more crowds during newyear since im not working then. Have been superbusy lately.

Any suggestions on what crowd i should do first ?
