2003 NBA DRAFT CLASS (2K17 PC)



I am using my own approach to create draft classes not based on any particular math formulas.
I will upload the draft class to steam and possibly an offline version here at NLSC. I will try to continuously update this draft class and upload the updated version at later dates.
I will try to include video/ screenshot previews as well as cool facts and links to articles about the hype surrounding the players of this draft when they were still rookies and even prospects.

*Special Note*
Most ages will reflect the prospects real age at time of draft.
Example: Lebron will start as 17 and will turn 18 before the draft.
I hope to have threads like this for other draft classes.

EDIT:
I have updated many players, I have tried to make the players have their listed height and weights from the time of draft.

This is pretty cool, It would be awesome if we could get an archive of Draft Classes of every year. It would take a lot of work of course but it would be worth it.

While I can not do every year I hope the community can pick up whatever years draft classes are needed.

I want to keep the draft class prospects true to what they were at the time around the draft. Example is kobe should not be the highest rated player for 96 draft but should have the highest potential with a pretty good rating, not the best.

I am approaching draft classes with the idea of portraying players as the prospects they were before their NBA careers took off, with the potential to become who they were in real life. I am approaching this with the thought that is up to the user to make a player reach the real life feats or rise to even greater success.

Stories like Melo vs Lebron, or the Hype of Darko were huge narritives that surrounded this draft and the following nba season.

Having said that, if a user does not like my ratings or take on a player they can use my work as a base and release their own version without asking my permission.

Do you remember when Melo vs Bron was a heated debate? Well in 2003 Melo made his presence known bursting into rare air and torching the collegiate basketball arena.
Fresh off an NCAA title, the Freshman phenom, Carmelo Anthony made himself available for the Draft. Before the Lottery Selection, the number one pick was still a toss up between Carmelo Anthony and a high school Prodigy named Lebron James.

A lot of hours... I went through and researched all the 1st round prospects, so the research itself took a lot of work.
Still there are many things I need to update such as many animations, FT ratings, motives, many durability ratings, etc. I want to add even more prospects that went undrafted but played in the NBA. My dream goal would be to include every player that entered this draft. Even the ones that never could have made an NBA team.

Look through this draft class you will find many real prospects. This is just one of my favorite drafts.

I did not use portraits (personal preference), I used limnono trainer to assign cyberfaces. Check the tutorial section for more details.

Look at Melos pants. I can't tell if he needed to iron them, or they are just huge, or both.

Not interested. I only made this thread to show my work that took many hours to complete.

I know this is old but just wanna say thanks for this release...really enjoying it. Wish there could of been 97 and 98 one but i understand the hard work it takes to get it right...anyways i just wanna give my thanks on a well put out DC.

I was trying to do other draft classes but realized, I knew alot about the 2003 draft class and did not know much about other drafts.
There are so many story lines that lead up to a draft. I tried to capture all of that in my draft classes.

I can make other draft classes but I would have to depend on others to let me know who were the hyped prospects at the time. Most draft classes I see try to revise history.
For example, I saw a 96 draft class with kobe as the highest overall rated player. That makes no sense, as he was coming out of high school and he did not have the best rookie year. I just didn't understand how he was rated higher than Iverson or Ray Allen. After 2 or 3 seasons maybe I can justify him with the best overall but prior to the draft he was playing against HS competition.

Edit:
Kobe would have legendary work ethic badge and a 90+ potential.

I wish we had a 2002 roster ready for my league/season use so we can use this draft class and potentially re-shape the fate of the NBA!
