Can i run it

Talk about NBA 2K17 here.

Can i run it

Postby MrVinceCarter15 on Mon Sep 05, 2016 4:29 pm

My laptop specs : intel core 2quad i7 4210mq 2.2ghz
8gb of ram
Gtx 850m 2gb
I know that is poor specs but at least i hope they tweaked 2k17 too avoid 2k16 problems and i could play with low/med settings :/

It's basically impossible to answer any questions about optimisation before the game is actually out, but I imagine you should be able to run it on low settings at least. Before I got a new system prior to NBA 2K16 last year, I was able to run NBA 2K15 on lower and medium settings with specs inferior to that.

You could run Med-High if you turn down resolution and Vsync and that might give you 40 to 50 frames

Which is an assumption based on 2K16.

That's a similar system to mine, except that I've got an nVidia card. Based on my experiences with NBA 2K16 PC, I'd say you'll be fine. :)

I expect the requirements to be almost the same as 2K16.

i think i have:

i3 3.6ghz
4gb ram
gtx 650 2gb

and im running the game at almost high settings. using the 2K cam helps too. other cams eats up too much resources coz it has to show more graphics.

I really like how 2k can run on such a wide range of machines. I ran 2k16 on my 8 year old machine with q6600 and AMD 280 and it ran pretty smoothly with medium graphics.

Cannot wait to get 2k17 this year. Finally gave away the antique and built an i7 6700k w Nvidia 1070 gtx and NVME SSD. 2k16 runs awesome on the 34" ultra widescreen too. I can make full court passes to teammates which I couldn't previously see with the ultra widescreen.

Sorry, I just had to brag a little. It's been 8 years since I've been able to.

As a side note, NBA 2K seems to benefit very little from SSDs - maybe because resources are packed?

Actually, I was a little surprised how quickly it loaded on my new system with a Samsung 950 pro vs my older system which had an OCZ vertex 2. It was at least 2x as fast. This after every SSD benchmark website said not to expect much diff from a top of the line SSD vs bargain SSD.

There are still hangs though in load times for online mode but I suspect that it's server related.

Dommy73, I remember you were playing with two screens side by side. Ever consider getting two curved 34" monitors? That'd be beastly. But probably really hard to drive even with a 1080 TItan.

Is 2k17 going to be compatible with VR goggles? I've been a little behind knowledge-wise on that side of tech.

Actually I was running it on 3 fullhd monitors - it ran well, but the issue was that the bezels (the trasition between monitors) were around 3pt lines, which was very inconvenient.

Now I use single 34" 21:9 monitor with resolution of 3440x1440. I could imagine running the game on two of those, but I don't think it's necessary as the court fits even one. Might be interesting for sure, but right now I also don't have spare cash equivalent of two new consoles - I'm planning a vacation, generally saving up, ...

And as for the SSD - I use two HDDs in RAID 0 as non essential space, maybe I'd see bigger difference if I had it on single HDD - the read speeds are improved greatly in RAID 0 (not to the NVMe levels of course, but not that far behind my 850 Evo).

Anyway, i have to change my computer and need to go on an iMac for professional uses. It will be
3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor
Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
16GB memory
AMD Radeon R9 M395 with 2GB video memory
Do you think the game will run properly ? I plan to install Windows with boot camp.

The only thing is: You may have to run textures on Mediium because of the 2GB of video memory. It still looks great, and you should be able to run it just fine.

It still looks good. Have you already bought the computer? Why not go with a R9 280X, or R9 380 or 380x with higher video memory?

I am still trying to find the best options. For the moment the only way to have a 4gb video memory is to go with an older model ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M) OR explose my budget...

Exactly what I was thinking. Great card choice.

Check microcenter.com as well, not sure if they deliver... but they have really good deals sometimes.

Looks like they don't deliver gpus and they are out of Boston. But this gives you an idea of the pricing you could get if you research. It's around $145 and only like $117 after rebate. That is comparable to the card I have, and I can max the game out with textures on high.

Do some research and I bet you could find a sweet deal.
