What happened to Steve Nash???

Postby deluxxe on Sun Sep 18, 2016 5:34 am

Steve Nash no longer in this game :(

He's not on the Suns classic team, and I heard that all of his moves were removed from the game :( Anyone know what happened here? Did he have a falling out with 2K or something?

Such a bummer. Hoping maybe someone can mod him in... but without his moves it won't really look like him.

Beyond the fact that they obviously don't have his likeness rights this year, I don't think there's an answer out there. I doubt there was any kind of big falling out, though.

I remember they were able to add Julius Erving a couple of years ago after initially having to remove him, so perhaps they can patch Nash in at some point.

Last year he was still under the NBAPA license.

He may have requested to be removed from the game, maybe ? I read somewhere that some players don't want to release their rights to their likeness if they can't agree on compensation for said rights. Might be why Barkley isn't on the TNT pre-game show with Shaq, Kenny and Ernie, or in the game. I'm just guessing though.

Correct. Once he was no longer covered by the NBAPA license, 2K would've had to secure his likeness rights to continue to include him. It's possible that he wasn't interested, asked for too much, or it was simply an oversight. As I said, a few years ago they re-added Julius Erving to the game when it initially shipped without him, so perhaps they can work something out and add Nash at some point this year. It wouldn't be unprecedented, at any rate.

Ya I feel like Nash isn't really the type of guy that would ask for too much money. Hopefully it was an oversight and he gets added.
So after players retire they are only part of the PA for one year? That would explain why they are going all out with Kobe this year. Will be crazy/weird if Kobe isn't part of 2k18.
Now i'm wondering just how much 2k pays someone like Michael Jordan to be in the game? Gotta think he's not cheap.

That's right. When it comes to Kobe, I wouldn't be surprised if they signed a deal with him, given his popularity and history as a 2K cover player.

Possibly within the realm of $10 million.

with "Limnono's Modifier" i've seen steve nash as name in the mycareer roster list.

atm i'm not able to trade anyone and maybe just his name like iverson in 2k12.

It's probably an oversight more than anything that they didn't notice until it was too late, since they have to get the roster in early and approved by the NBA.

When you've got everything to work on and a guy retires who's on two of your classic teams you can overlook that compared to trying to get current players and rookies and everything.

I'm sure if they can't get Nash this year in a patch, he'll be in there next year, I doubt he's the type to want to hold out for money like Pippen tried.
