PeacemanNOT wrote:So after talking about the whole intel thing I decided to do a bit research into it. I have never seen anyone in MyPark/Pro-AM with a face scan on PC, I mean never. Looking back it was probably a massive cash and grab by 2K to try and advertise the new laptop intel had just released. I found this hilarious video of these two people explaining how to do a face scan on PC. This is the only video I have found of anyone doing a face scan on the PC. What's funny is they go through the whole process of how to actually buy the game and then they show the face scan. It turns out horrible and they just play it off like nothing happened:

I love also how they skipped the terms and agreement couple of times.

It's something than can enhance the MyCAREER/MyPARK/2K Pro-Am experience, since you can give your MyPLAYER your actual face and put yourself in the game, as it were.

Too bad I don't own a MobilePhone. But most custom Facescans I have seen look pretty bad anyways.

Well done 2K. Anyone else in Europe having problems on iPhone to get the app?

I don't know about iPhone. But me and my wife both have different models of Android phones with the same region standards (Russia) in account settings. In my account I downloaded app easily, in her it's "not available in your country". I thought it's because of her fresh Samsung Galaxy J5 downloaded some location info (we are in Kyrgyzstan right now but it's the same region as Russia anyway), but I added my account into her phone and download app easily. Assuming that there are some strange things with regions this year.

Has anyone had success with their face scan? Mine comes out looking like an uglier version of Beetlejuice (Howard Stern's sidekick)

Also, you cannot move past the start screen without finalizing a MyPlayer. Can we get a redo after you select Complete? I don't want to be stuck with this hideous monstrosity and want to re-try the face scan app at another time. (i.e. can I redo the face and name and height, weight, position, etc.)

Trief 5 times but there's always an issue while building my face. Oh well, I'll try again another time.

Me too. I'll have to update it later, when my better half gets home so we can use the front facing camera and maybe outdoors in daylight.

My current facescan looks like he's missing a chromosome. Also with dead eyes. Do I really look like that? I'll need a second opinion. I know the face scan captured a few things right, like my chin depth. But other things are waaaay off, like my eye socket depth.

Also, I was hoping the whole process was automated but it seems like there's a lot of post-editing necessary. I figured the face scan would apply a hairstyle depending on what I have. Or at least my skin color. But no - although it was funny to see myself as a black guy though. I'll have to edit the size of the bulge in my shorts...

You can re-scan whenever you want.

Aside from having no shadows on your face when scanning and keeping the camera still, the best tip I have is to turn your head as slow as possible. Yes the app can complete the scan if you turn faster, but if you are having issues give it a shot.

Is there a workaround for iPhone users in Europe who are unable to to download/use My NBA 2k17 app? (it says its available only in US store)

thanks

Oddly, it seems the purple blemish I had on my scanned face as a result of some shadows isn't showing up in the full version. Overall, my face scan looks better without actually having re-scanned, though I might still give it a go. I need to scan again for the PC version anyway.

Thanks, I was able to get a passing resemblance to my face scanned with non-ideal conditions (indoors, front camera - wife somehow could not get it to scan properly using the front camera. The scan result said it was Above Average.

Still, I'm a little disappointed that I had to manually tweak the skin tone, hair, facial hair, hair color, and other little details. Wish the face scanner could do the whole enchilada. It's first-gen technology for now so I'm willing to give it a pass.

Did anyone can get it to work? I cant get past 48% on my HTC 10, tried every possible thing, more than 80 times, i have professional studio lights and tripod, and even in 80 tries, i couldnt even get a bad scan. Yesterday they released an update for the Android app that was supposed to fix the PC scan issue, but it didnt work either.

Halp?

I did get it to work using my phone's(samsung S5) front facing camera. It was very finicky and the first scan that went through finally (above average, around 6k ref points) turned out horrible. The second scan (average with around 5k ref points) turned out much better and I was very happy with it.

This Video by Gento Helped me get that second scan. I used natural lightning outside during early sunset if that helps. I think the key is going insanely slow when turning your head, and to quote The Doctor, DON'T BLINK. Well more accurately don't blink while moving your head, if you need to blink come to full stop first and hold your position, blink, then resume. I hope this helps.

Yeah, i saw that video too, i tried with natural light a lot of times, and never worked, i didnt get even a bad scan ONCE with my HTC. Im positive thats is something about the app on my model, i got it working with my girlfriends Moto X, but the quality of the camera is pretty bad. At this point (more than 90 tries) i've given up. That or i will become a Dalek screaming EXTERMINATE in front of the game.

I finally got a great-rated scan (9300 data points) with my front facing iPhone 5s. But after my face was built, I still look messed up and asymmetrical. My nose and upper lip looks spot on but chin depth and eye vertical placement are all screwed up.

I'm afraid this is the best it's gonna be.

By the way, I got my best results using a white background, standing right in front of my wall with my head against the wall so when I turned my head, it did not tilt.

I've found that you generally have to do a lot of sculpting after the scan, and even then, I've had to settle for "Well, it kinda looks like me, and at least like a real person".

Yep, the same for me. I think I'll give it a try one more time after yesterday's update.

Well said. I came to the same exact conclusion.

Incidentally, I've been told that reapplying the uploaded images and getting the face to render again without uploading a new scan can sometimes yield better results.
