Whipped up a news post after zzcoolj21 mentioned it in the other thread. Fantastic news, obviously.

That's some great news. It sucks we're not getting the prelude but I'm not too pushed about it. I wonder where that deal with Intel went? Guess it was just for 2K16.

That was only speculation as to why the PC version wasn't going to support scanning through the MyNBA2K17 app. It's probably still possible with an Intel RealSense camera, but this way we don't need to buy a new device, which once again is great news.

Can this software be used to mod players into the game?

Yes. I bought 2K16 for $13.00 last month.
I wanted to get a steam key for 2K17 but I don't think I will be able to play until the 20th if I do.
I want to play on the 16th.

Is Facescan only for My Player? Just wondering if there was a way to use it offline only and not have my mug in online mode. Being around 40 years old, I'm a little self-conscious about still being into video games as much as I am, hahaha.

Nope, only for myplayer. Pretty sure ~35% of users here are 30 and up anyway. There's no shame in gaming when you're "old". It's a pastime shared by everyone.

So after talking about the whole intel thing I decided to do a bit research into it. I have never seen anyone in MyPark/Pro-AM with a face scan on PC, I mean never. Looking back it was probably a massive cash and grab by 2K to try and advertise the new laptop intel had just released. I found this hilarious video of these two people explaining how to do a face scan on PC. This is the only video I have found of anyone doing a face scan on the PC. What's funny is they go through the whole process of how to actually buy the game and then they show the face scan. It turns out horrible and they just play it off like nothing happened:

You get to scan your face into the game for your MyPlayer. Not only do you get to play the game, you get to be in the game.

This must have been a leftover movie that never got deleted from youtube. Because I don't think that option is available in the release version of 2K16 for the PC. Amirite? Besides, how many people have powerful enough laptops to fully enjoy 2K16?


If Microsoft wasn't afraid of cannibalizing console sales, a great little gimmick they could have done is to set up face scanning cameras in Microsoft stores for players to walk in and scan their faces into their Steam 2K16 account. But then that would kill sales of 2K16 for Xbox. Games for Windows by Microsoft is just a secondary profit maker for them.
