Re: NCAA March Madness LIVE -- 2015-16 BETA 1 RELEASE (9.5.15)

Postby bigh0rt on Thu Oct 01, 2015 7:38 am

Currently uploading slimm44's Beta 2 roster with Arizona through Indiana complete with players re-rated, re-tendencied, Playbooks, Coach Profiles, Rotations all done! Also, EVERY CF that monzki has created since the last release, including updated look-a-likes that reflect better likeness to lower tiered players, as well as every uniform I have finished thus far. Should be good to go within another hour or so. (Y) (Y) (Y)

For those who downloaded all the original Beta files, just download these to get updated Roster (Arizona through Indiana completed by slimm44), cyberfaces (monzki > everyone), and uniforms. Thank you to everyone who is already testing and playing and reporting their findings and providing ideas. There's also a CPU vs CPU Sliders setting file included, which slimm44 is making some finalizing tweaks on. As always, feedback is welcome and encouraged...

Anyone else get a corrupt file when trying to open the Cyberface download? My internet is being a piece of work right now, and trying to see if there's just an issue with my internet, or if there was an issue with uploading earlier. Thanks.

Also, it'd be great if we could get one of our super talented Title page makers to make one. I'm a fan of a sweet picture of a mascot or two, with some cool effects like the actual 2K title page has.

What makes this mod “sim”? Here are a few of the features that set this project apart from all others:

- Every art file (jerseys, arenas, cyberfaces, accessories, courts, dornas (advertisement at half court), etc is realistic and none will crash game play
- There is no missing art file in the entire project

Every player in every roster has:
- Accurate statistical ratings and tendencies to work with 2k's simulation engine while still providing realistic game play
- Realistic ratings and tendencies that affect game play but not the simulation engine ie dribbling, athletic ratings, post tendencies, etc.
- Realistic physical attributes that decrease after major injuries or as the player gets older
- Accurate play types
- Accurate contracts

- Accurately updated Coaching profiles and playbooks

- Draft classes that have realistic player information for every player

- A few slider sets designed to be a base for realistic game play

Hi All, right out of the gate I want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone that is involved in bringing this mod together. I have really missed college ball on pc and ya'll have given that back in a major way.

I d/l-ed the first version (MM2k14 I think) and it worked great. I am having a bit of trouble with the new MM Live beta v1 playing any other mode except for an exhibition game. In the association / playoff / season modes i am able to set everything up, but when i go to play a game the whole program closes. Is anyone else running into this? I am running it on steam windows 10. Thanks so much again and keep up the great work!

bigh0rt wrote:The way I understand it... if a player's name is in the 'Last' name tab, the announcer will say it. So, say 'Williams' is in there, and your player's last name is Williams, spelled the same way, the PA announcer will say it (as will the commentary announcers). Now, let's say you have a guy named Williams Jr, who is not in the Last Name tab...

What I did was, took some European name that would never be used, overwrote it with 'Williams Jr', and then copied and pasted the numeric code with Williams into my Williams Jr row, so that the game recognizes the name 'Williams Jr' as 'Williams' and the announcers say that name (they will not say WIlliams Jr since that name is not pre-loaded into the game).

I did the same with first names. So the PA Announcer will often say a first and last name, if they both read properly.

You can use a lot of names that sound similar, or have different spellings, etc.

I did it all with a lot of trial and error, so these are just what I believe to be true, and have experienced. Also worth noting that while the PA Announcer will say first and last names, the commentary announcers will only call players by last name (I believe the Audio ID is what links first and last for them, and those are pre-determined, presumably along with the different stories and anecdotes that they tell about the player).

Ultimately I bring very little to this mod (outside of uniforms and organizing it), so I try and finagle what I can, on the rare occurrence that I have a bright idea (that actually works).

We actually do this for PBA 2K14 as well. You don't have to replace a European name either, you can clone any name but one thing you always have to make sure is that the names are alphabetized. The "Williams Jr." name should be moved right after the "Williams" name for it to work, you cannot put the names out of order, or else everything will not work and players with names will be called by their jersey number. We've done this for PBA 2K14 ever since v4.4 (January 19, 2015 Update). Unfortunately, you cannot make the last names play first name audio either.

It is something I hope to have worked out by the first full blown v1 release.

The PA Announcer will say first names. For example, I got him to say 'Chase Jeter', 'Sam Cassel' (for Cassel Jr -- although I could potentially just have used Sam's AudioID instead), and lots of other first names that are just different spellings or pronounciations of other names in the game (after last night's release I added Derryck as a first name, since they had Derek, Derrick, etc. so now the PA should say Derryck Thornton's full name as well). The commentators won't ever do it, because it would not sound natural to splice together a first and last name from a human voice -- with the PA's long and drawn out announcing, you can't tell. I understand why they do it.

Please play against Indiana and tell me how active Thomas Bryant is. He's not very active in cpu games and he should be.

i played Indiana vs Indiana cpu last night and no he not very active. but are are offense on the inside is not active as y think they should be. i don't about this year yet, but the teams recently have been a run team or a set pass permiter team for the most part. but some of that is we haven't had much of a post game to do a lot inside with. so im not sure how active he will be. we wont that until some games are played.

I'm going to release another roster today to Hort and he can upload it. I forgot to paste some of my edits (woops) and I have to redo the touches tendencies because there are too many new players and too many changes from year to year in college basketball. I want Bryant to be aggressive in this first release. From what I've read, the offense will first go through Yogi then through Bryant/Blackmon. Bryant is supposed to be one of the best freshman post players this year.

Yeah I was hoping for some luck with the first names as last names at least with the commentary audio. Tough luck when it came to it though. Btw congrats on your 8000th post!

If you know how to do it, I'm all ears. There's tons of things I've wondered about over the past three years of doing this. Anything you don't see done is likely due to the current impossibility of doing so.
