I just want that the guy I create doesn't talk like with a ghetto slang from south Chicago like in previous games.....not all players talk like that :?

Well, it's a Spike Lee joint, so a New York accent and dialect is much more likely. Of course, it still might not be to your tastes. ;)

Yes I guess so, but a little more options on the voice would be nice....last year you had 2 voice choices and both sounded the same, would be nice to have a couple more voices or accents....idk U.S. guy coming from a mid-class family, or european coming from overseas with a little accent, Russian guy with Chekov's accent lol

Seem like theres 3 high school games 4 college games and just 8 games on your 1st NBA season.
Better kiss that RoY award goodbye

Edit and some cool stuff now:

In MyCAREER, we have a new "Ask Out" feature that allows you to come out of the game, sim to end & still earn VC in blowouts

Be careful of what you wish for. You don't want some Yakov Smirnoff parody as the Russian choice. Although, I suppose I could put up with a Crocodile Dundee parody for an Aussie voice...

In all seriousness, I do agree. Having a couple of different voices with distinctly different dialects would be nice.

The "ask out" option is a very welcome addition. Hats off to 2K for adding that.

Did anyone see this stuff? A 10-minute cutscene?

phpBB [video]

And apparently that dude Vic dies in the next episode. IMO this is too much for a basketball game. 2K is getting too good for their own good.

And I've always thought: "What if you don't want to be a superstar?". Only like 1% of players who enter the league become superstars. What if you want to be a role player, sixth man or just a solid starter? It would be nice if your skill level determined what role you had on your team and everyone didn't just become Michael Jordan, but this is like 2K25 stuff. By then you'll be driving your car to the games.

How can you possibly say that without actually playing through the whole storyline? That's like declaring a movie the best film ever, based solely on the trailer. Perhaps it's horribly cliche and repetitive, with the gameplay feeling like it has little impact on the direction of the story. Hopefully, it won't. However, we won't know for sure either way until the game is out, and we've experienced it. And even if it's not terrible, "best storyline possible" is a big claim...especially before the game itself is released.

As I and other people have explained multiple times, we'd like to see a bit more choice in the story: different paths with storyline branching, different MyPLAYER characters. That way, not everyone's playing through the same story, with the exact same twists and turns. As Dommy said, it would also be nice to be able to skip the storyline, for those who aren't a fan of it, but like the general MyCAREER concept and the other, RPG-like elements. Some of us would like to create our own story, without having to play through one that's already been written. For some of us, it gives the mode a bit of a predetermined feel.

Finally, I'm not mad at all. It's not to my tastes, but rather than just blindly expressing hate, I'm explaining my position on the matter, and what I'd personally prefer.

I'm with Andrew on this one. Never did like Spike Lee and his story so far sux. Can't even choose to stay in college - ridiculous. They give you this whole scene where you're pressured left and right from family and friends to either go or stay. And then you're waiting for the two choices and the next thing you know, whoop, you're drafted. WTF? I thought I accidentally pressed something. Stupid. I can't even change the retarded guy's nickname. Freq? Really?

After 20+ years of Spike Lee's repetitive stories and characters, we know exactly what this story will be like. I don't need to let new Spike Lee crap into my brain in order to know what he's about.

This linear storyline is bs. Even worse than last year. Last year, none of the choices you made really affected anything (other than a few badges for being a cool cat or hothead jackof or whatever). This year, it seems like you don't even GET choices. I can't choose to stay in college. I can't choose agents. Why even bother with a storyline? May as well just blindly play the season like we always do. I'm not particularly interested in this guy's life. It doesn't feel like my own. I don't want to be from the mean streets of NY. How about being from the Bahamas or Europe? Spike Lee only makes one kind of movie and it's a bore.

Spike Lee's also a hypocritical racist sob. His movies are all about the black condition and he loves to throw in jabs against whites and other races in all his movies. Like when Cee Cee calls Freq's asian girlfriend "Ming Ching. " Thankfully for him, asians and whites are not a protected class or he'd be getting detention from PC Principal.

Exactly. We're not playing Mario, or Sonic here. We're not supposed to be playing as the character. We came to MYCareer to play as ourselves. It IS MY Career. MYCareer. It's not "Frequency Vibrations" Career Mode. It's completely unnecessary. There should just be a way to access your old MyCareer file and continue from there. MyCareer needs to be separate from your MyPlayer used in Park, Pro-Am, etc.

Now there's no point in watching MyCareer runs on YouTube because we all know how it's going to be. 3 HS games, 4 College Games, 8 Rookie NBA Games. We're being forced into a script that we don't want. There should be an option to play normal MyCareer mode. Playing MyCareer Mode on NBA 2K14 with mods and just our imagination as the story is truthfully a more interesting experience than this. NBA 2K needs to check out NBA '06 The Life for a good basketball Career mode.

One word sums that up - Truth!

I might add that I find 2K's deepening and open acceptance and incorporation of language that is essentially Ebonics rather appalling. It's one thing to say things like "c'mon" or "gonna," but "tryna" and "gotchu?" It's pretty pathetic.

Funny, my performance on the court affects nothing in the script. In my first NBA games, I've been averaging a C- average, 4 turnovers per game, 20% FG shooting, 60% FT shooting, 4 ppg, 1 assist. And they're talking about me like I'm the second coming of Michael Jordan. I wonder if I absolute stink it up out there intentionally if they'll kick me out of the NBA - prob not.

I loved the addition of High school and College; I fucking hate the story.

The purpose of My Career is to "roleplay" yourself as an NBA player, and here it takes away every ability to do that and just forced you into a typically cliche Spike Lee role. It sucks. And it's kind of sad because once you get to season 2 and the proper my career starts, it's a very good mode.

I thought you were supposed to be given the flexibility to train in the gym, go out partying and marketing yourself, or whatever to up your stats or VC. One of the trailer videos mentioned that. Instead, I'm stuck here watching a movie instead of playing a game.

Even the board game "Game of Life" give you the option to go to college or start career. It woulda been cool to build in that feature. Staying in college, you could get your as hurt and never get drafted or drafted really low. Going early to the NBA could result in Vic having a much stronger influence on you and messing up your life, resulting in Malice in the Palace or something, haha I really wanted to go the Tim Duncan route of staying for 4 years. No VC but team skills go up or something.

This would be cool. Instead of VC they can give you SP like in offline mode during the college time that you can spend only for attributes upgrade or you can train in training gym like in 2nd year in NBA and increase your skills and level a bit.

there are only 15 storylined games: 3 school games are 2 min quarter, 4 college games are 6 min halftime but they sub you out for a few minutes and for 8 NBA games U can set quarter length to minimum. you can skip all cutscenes also. from the second year it's pretty good mode so IMHO there is no reason to skip it ;-) you can skip only first year

This was my least favorite interation of MyCareer that NBA2k has made and put out there, it was a huge disappointment especially with it being billed as my story like it was unique to me. The whole thing is garbage and the sad part is there is enough there to make a truly compelling story and game that would let people really immerse in the whole thing. I hated the fact that they basically took the choices out of your hands, the starting was the Nickname which was just bad why not give you an option of it like in years past? The next thing is the dance move I wish they just added another menu with options to do instead of the stupid one we are stuck with. The family option would have been better if you could select different people maybe if you had 1 or 2 parents, married or divorced. An older or younger sibling that changes the way you play or how you are perceived.

I don't know why it forced you to grow up in Harlem it would have been easy to give you an option of which part of the country you grew up. Thus you could have gotten different pitches/promises in college. It could have forced your parent to pressure you to go to a school closer to home. Then there is the friend options which was just annoying in the story line with the cliché. I would have loved to picked personalities for the people close to you that would steer your choices like if you go out with Vic maybe that incident happens and it effects you later with him blackmailing you. If you choose not to stay in school maybe your parents treat you different. This was the first year I thought I'd get more say in the character can't pick that many colleges which sucked, or to stay in college and it impacting your salary/prestige. Then the agent could have been different with ones that are good or bad and generally do stuff in your career like steal from you or sell you out. The girlfriend could have been a gold digger or some other thing and maybe a few options. Instead I got a bunch of crap happening with no real outcome that had any significant and it made my player less appealing even with the ability to skip.

some gripes:
-is it just me or the FT is freaking hard. my player is rated 72 for FT and i always hit near middle, but i'm almost always at 50%! whats the point of the blue shaded area.
-too many cut scenes. i hate the asst coach always telling us about too many quick three pointers! skip button please!
-again, every game, POST GAME SHOW just to show the player of the game. come on! provide a skip button, or a disable option for this. it was nice for the first couple of times, but now its tiring and annoying.
-also, are we stuck on just one body type?!

but hey, i like the gameplay as it's better than last year so that doesn't make me a hater.

completely agree. it was just a waste of time. and really wasted our first season as a rookie.

i was a HS phenom, college champion and was the 12th pick in the draft, but im rated just 55 overall !?!
i mean, my team somehow made the playoffs and won our first playoff game vs the rockets.. but then that was it, that was my last game of my rookie year. and i was a free agent right after that. wtf?!

this is just some bad story writing bs..
