don't know if this has a specific reason but it's kinda weird that zach lavine has 97 dunk, while the player after that is blake griffin at 80.
edit: also jordan clarkson has 55 layup, which is a bit low imo because all other pg's at that range are free agents and even most of these players have a higher rating.

realmadrid1809, there is no reason...because we have 15k players in spreadsheet, process of every rating will take some time. Right now, most important ratings are finished. Slimm is going to look at subjective ratings such as on ball defense, layup, dunking etc. Im not 100% sure, but slimm mentioned about raising the shoot in traffic, shoot off dribble, layup and dunk ratings. Anyway good find, we know about this kind of things.

edit: i was wrong, dunking and layup was updated by slimm, he probably missed lavine because of 15k players, not sure.
Wed Jul 08, 2015 2:08 am
I missed Levine. When I edited Clarkson, he hadn't really played. He will be updated.
Wed Jul 08, 2015 4:27 am
omg, now i see, all dunk and layups ratings for all players are working in formula, its all about bad pasting for Lavine.
Dunk formula scale is 25-80, layup 50-80.
We already know which players arent updated wth formula:
jarrett grant, nogueira, hummel, mcneal, connaughton, justin holiday- so please do not report listed players.

you guys are working so fast
general question: are you planning to do accurate dunk packages, gear, etc. for all players or would that be too much?

realmadrid1809, both aspects are still in my future plans, im just not sure when, we have a lot of work to do, maybe i will be able talk about this when we will finish our current editing.

slimm44 wrote:The definition states that defensive awareness influences how often a player picks up the ball handler ie help defense. This seems to be what happens in-game and is why big men have higher ratings. It also influences shot effectiveness ie a player with higher defensive awareness will cause more misses than a player with lower defensive awareness. I think it also influences how well a player fights through screens. I don't think DA influence steals, blocks, playing passing lanes, or going for on-ball steals because there are separate ratings/tendencies for those. I could be wrong, though.
I don't think the Warriors run plays enough for Livingston in the HP/LP to give him that play type. From what I've watched, he tends to only post when he has a mismatch in early offense or freelance situations. I can't remember them running a single set play for him in the post.
Thanks for the DA description, I also think it does all those things you mentioned plus maybe positioning/concentration. I believe a player with high DA is less likely to be the victim of a backdoor cut or be late to a close out because he was napping and too far away.
It still sounds weird to me that known expert defenders have comparatively low DA (even if it's efficiency) like Cooper on 58 or Dumars on 48 but then I'm not an expert on those guys.
DA influencing fighting through screens makes a lot of sense to me as I've observed players with high OA have an easy time getting open using off-ball screens.
As for Livingston I wasn't paying attention to which action came from a set play and which was freelanced when watching the Dubs, so I'll take your word for it. I kinda forgot about the freelance post up tendency, which could be enough to simulate his post game. I just played a game with the '05 Suns against the '12 Thunder and had Nash guarding Sefolosha for a while and they actually threw him the ball in the post once or twice, which I have to applaud. Also Harden took a pull-up three when I went under a (double) screen, so that works, too.
Am I right in assuming the Play Types are largely called regardless of situation and opposition while the freelance tendency stuff depends more on actual matchups/circumstance? (I doubt Sefolosha would've posted Jordan...)

slimm, didnt know u were still posting on here, have to ask you this question while i have the chance since youve done lots of work with 2k ratings. Have you ever figured out the reason/issue/fix that causes some Centers, Forwards to take 50-70 or so Three Pointers a season despite having 25 three point ratings, 0 tendency? Even with go to 3 point line off, and proper plays assigned, it seems a handful of players will be hard coded to take 50 or so threes a season, and go 0 for whatever their attempts are. I even tried giving two players identical values. I sim the season, one shoots zero threes, the other goes 0-74. This is with sim stats from 2k12-2k14

In awe of the work going on here. We really could use you guys over on 2k14.
Thu Jul 09, 2015 4:55 am
all c's with +10 3s are 3p shooting centers

Looking at current Cavs in the latest ultrarosterbase, the rotation is weird. I'm aware doing rotations for this team is difficult because they've never been at full strength for an extended period of time but giving almost 20 min to Shawn Marion, starting JR Smith and having Mozgov at 7mpg? Also James Jones has his positions set to SF/SG while exclusively playing PF whenever I watched but if he's playing with Lebron on the court it may not matter who of those two is the PF and who the SF.
In general is there a reason for giving PF's SF as main position (like Draymond, Kukoc) besides them having higher OVR this way, or is taht all there is to it?

Che, ultrarosterbase 2016 rotations is not updated, it was created from 2015 roster...long time ago, i dont remember which version was base roster for ultra. Im planning to update this roster after FA madness.
No reason for giving sf/pf instead of pf/sf, im lazy maybe? You already know that we dont care about stupid OVR. I know about this kind of little things and in most rosters its spot on but really, believe me, we're working every day, few hours of editing every day+ i must talk with this lazy ignorant slimm. Only two person involved, its not easy.

Not Complaining sko, just reporting.
Started a season with the '05 Suns and had a great first game vs '13 Miami. Nash & Bron went at it and it came down to the last 20 seconds of overtime when Nash made a go ahead step back-fadeway out of the P&R and Bron missed a potential game winning three. He used Bosh's screen well and the shot was wide open but his jumper went ice cold during the 2nd half, he went berzerk in the lane for the whole game, though.
another guy who is a SF/PF and might be better the other way around is Bo Outlaw on the '05 Suns but I'm probably just splitting hairs here.

It wasnt a URB specific question, just something I've had bugging me for years on 2K. It must be a sim engine bug, I can't think of anything else.

I think that was a 2k14 specific bug. I remember encountering that, but I haven't touched 14 in a minute. I'm thinking about firing it up in the next few weeks to see what I can figure out but I'm pretty busy with 13 at the moment.

It cant be sim engine issue, if problem not exist in 2k13. If you saw this in 2k12 and 2k14, like you mentioned earlier and i dont see this problem in 2k13 it must be roster file and how deep roster was edited. I know that 2k14 was problematic with pf/c shooting 3s like crazy but i thought it was fixed.
edit: maybe pf/c 2k14 fix works only for gameplay and not in sim

Please let me know if you do. I did some testing and found out that it is tied to TEAMS, not players. Example, Rasho Nesterovic on Raptors gtakes 70 threes per season, and Dalembert with Sixers 0. When swapped, Dalmbert Takes 65 threes, and Nesterovic with Sixers takes 0.

MadbaLL, mark cuban face now lol, i think there is no solid rim protector in FA pool. Heard that Hibbert can change his mind now and join Mavs lololol soap opera
Clippers with DJ is different team, its much easier for Paul with Deandre on the court. Im not a big fan of DJ, but with Pierce and Stephenson(i think Doc/Paul/Pierce will change this player) this team will be very dangerous. Number 4-5 in the league.
