The Nuggets game was a tough one to watch, outside a couple of stretches where Aaron Brooks was knocking down shots. They really should've lost by more in that on. Seems Rose's hamstring is still bothering him, as he lacked aggressiveness and barely played. As one of the ESPN guys noted on ESPN, he's yet to start and finish consecutive games so far this season.

Based on the post game interview, Thibs called the shot on benching Rose (or maybe he's just covering for him)... I'm annoyed by Hinrich for the past games now... all he do is dribble out the clock and turn the ball over for making out of time decisions beside the fact that his shot selections are mostly terrible... I reckon they need another defender on the wing and should try to pursue Corey Brewer or Alonzo Gee maybe for Dunleavy or/and Snell...

Yeah, he had some really sloppy turnovers against the Nuggets. On the other hand though, he hit some big shots to keep them in the game. That's always how it's been with Hinrich; he's been a good defender and can make shots down the stretch, but he's also prone to lapses where he pulls up for an ill-advised three in transition, or commits a careless turnover. He's been a solid contributor for them in both his runs with the Bulls, but yeah, sometimes he's frustrating to watch.

Derrick Rose and his coach agree to rest his hamstring, people go bonkers

Raises some good points. Of course, it doesn't make it any less frustrating, or one less inclined to hold one's breath when you see him limp or have a hard landing.

Not having played enough competitive professional basketball for two years and two consecutive major injuries will leave you tired at some point Badger.

Some are freak injuries, others are the result of overcompensating for said freak injuries. Thing is, injuries are an unfortunate part of the game, and every now and again, players will miss a game or two, or sit out the rest of a game after turning an ankle, straining a hamstring, or whatever. Since Derrick Rose has had so many injuries in recent years however, and missed so much time because of some major ones, it garners more attention and raises more concern than it usually would.

Thibbs just doing damage control from his previous comments about Rose needing to play

This is just shit nasty situation. Hinrich and dunleavy are fine as complimentary players. Injuries are forcing them into expanded rules so their flaws are exposed.

You can't build a roster to succeed when its best player is injured, comes back, and gets injured again. We've seen the bulls over achieve. It's a great story but we are seeing the effects of it- the other players are getting hurt from the minutes and roles they are forced into

What are bulls fans expectations? It's easy to say rest rose is the thing to do. So what then?

I personally don't think the bulls teams can keep its head above water while they wait for Rose gets to 100%. Gasol is already hurt and old. Gibson injured the same ankle. Hinrich will have an inevitable injury. Noah has water in his knee. The spurs model works because you know the players randomly sitting out will be coming back to play the next game. Even wade would be rested on back to backs last year. Rose is basically holding the coach and team hostage. He just says he wants to be 100% and not be sore after his career. We don't know when that will come to fruition.

We all know thibbs wants to win now and will do anything it takes in his mind to do it. That's what he was brought into to do and I doubt any other coach would get the same results as him

Would bulls fans be happier if thibbs miraculously pulls a 180? Play gasol under 30 minutes, butler 35 max, play mirotic and mcbuckets 25+. The end game of that is most likely more losses than wins.

If you're in the resting rose until he is fully healthy camp, what are your expectations of that time frame?? What should be the playing rotation for everyone else while this is happening?

At times an ugly game, but an exciting one all the same. Nice to see Rose play over 30 minutes and finish the game, including the two overtimes. He didn't shoot the ball well overall, but man, that three at the end of the first OT...wow. Gasol struggled a bit from the field as well, but he was knocking some big shots down when it counted.

Tough loss, and while there were a few things you could criticise - bad shooting, sloppy turnovers - fair or not, I feel this one's on Hinrich to a large degree. The Bulls had clawed their way back and had the game won in regulation, before that boneheaded play. Terrible foul by Captain Kirk, I don't know what he was thinking there.

Hinrich somewhat redeemed himself with those 2 clutch treys... Scary moment there when Joakim hurt his ankle(for 2nd time in 2 games) but he soldiered on so it seems it's not that of a big deal and Pau, as professional as he is, played for 86 minutes overall in 2 games... Hope Gibson will be back soon although Mirotic has been pretty solid so far on his absence...

Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month. Seems that this may be his breakout season, rather than last year.

Perhaps because we're tired of that same Rose story? And we don't want that NovU-Shadowgrin love quarrel about illiteracy to resurface...

The arrival of Pau Gasol and the improvement of Jimmy Butler, beside the fact that they got some new good role players, made Bulls fans less worried about the Rose situation... The coaching staff needs to adjust their offense accordingly and fair enough they're running some non point guard-centric plays the past years (from running post plays for Luol Deng/Taj Gibson to Joakim Noah setting plays on the high post)... Thibs overplaying his players is the one to worry since it seems he neglect them in favor of defense...

Im more interested to hear fellow bulls fans opinions than dr rotoworld or mr. Stansfield.

I think it's just taking the easy way out by saying it's a media overreaction regarding rose. Another head scratcher to the rose puppet saga. If this whole thing was handled correctly by both his marketing team and the bulls front office (I blame his marketing team), there wouldn't be this mess.

What he said publicly it's unprecedented. This ranks up there with the I need to feed my family comments. No player of championship pedigree has shared the same sentiments as rose. Can you entrust the keys to the franchise to this type of player?

If you are ok with rose doing his sore thing, you shouldn't be complaining about the other guys playing too much unless you want the team to tank.

It is a welcome change to see this year's team can put the ball in the basket instead of the fratello cavs style ball they had been playing the previous 2 years.

It's a shame to see the guys play their hearts out while the unicorn talks about not being sore when his career it's over.

or, use those players that Thibs doesn't play as trade chips for someone capable and apt for his criteria... as I've said they should've adjusted already by now... they should've figured out already that they have other investments on this team other than Rose and whether it's the coaching staff or the players fault that they're having problems with their game plan... in the end of the day, Rose still wants to play basketball and I can safely bet that he's doing his best so that he can keep on doing it... let him do interviews and promote his shit we don't know maybe it's just them painkiller's side effects afterall...

What is the market for the said players not playing? It is realistic to think any of those players will bring back an impact player?

I don't think it's realistic to expect the team to easily reload/adjust to rose being out. How does a team pick up where it left off while the former mvp remains out?

Rose is in middle of a max contract and last year they had limited resources. With a lot of $ tied up to rose, dead weight in boozer, and non lottery picks, the Bulls were stuck.

Management found a gem in butler, basically gave away deng, paid boozer to go away, and struck out on Carmelo. Gasol'a play has been been a most welcome surprise and Mirotic is already a rotational player.

I think management has done a solid job with what they had to work with.

Lol I'll take that bet. Based on his play and comments, he hasn't given Bulls fans much to believe in him. I'll gladly eat crow once it starts playing all the back to backs. It was encouraging to see him play in the Charlotte game after the double ot game vs dallas

As you mentioned...
I think management has done a solid job with what they had to work with.

Perhaps they can salvage something out of Dunleavy, Brooks, Mirotic or Snell and even McDermott... perhaps they should look on those teams which has some position logjams in them (e.g. Denver)...

Yeh... fortunately they're over that phase now and they've already reloaded their roster and somewhat adjusted their gameplan accordingly...

Onto the game, they did good neutralizing the splash brothers but that team is fucking stack... As usual, offensive rebounding, turnover galore, and iffy shot selections burned them...

Gotta hand it to Draymond Green. They left him open, he made them pay. The Warriors are playing great so far this season, so in terms of the opponent it's not a terrible loss, but turnovers and defensive errors put them in an even tougher spot.

It was good seeing Rose show a bit of aggressiveness here and there, taking it to the basket. Unfortunately, he's not finishing that well at the hoop. He did also settle for a lot of threes, some of which weren't good attempts and missed very badly. I'd like to see him attempt some more midrange jumpers and utilise that floater of his more often, as he's used it quite effectively in the past. It doesn't feel like he's taking full advantage of his arsenal at the moment.

As for those comments he made, I think actions will need to speak louder than words. What he does from here on out will determine whether that's a career defining statement, or just a stupid remark he said once. We can try and re-frame it, try to give it more favourable context, but at the end of the day, he said something that we certainly didn't want to hear. It's out there, and it is what it is. If he comes to play and plays hard though, gives it his all, then it's just a dumb remark that can be left in the past.

It seems he still needs to get his wind and his rhythm back. The fact that he's been finishing games lately, playing the second night of a back-to-back after a double OT game, and his minutes are up around the 30 mark fairly consistently of late is an encouraging sign. You'd hope that by midseason, it won't be an issue anymore, but it's not like you can set a date for these things.

Good outing for Gibson in his return, a couple of sloppy turnovers aside. Nice to see him back in action. Huge game from Gasol; even on the downside of his career, he's been a quality pick-up.

GSW has such an explosive offense. they are a tough matchup. draymond green is like luis scola with 3pt shooting. that guy would kill the bulls off the pick and roll. maybe an in shape gibson can guard active stretch 4's like green.

Perhaps (if there's any truth on that earlier rumor) revisit that Kevin Martin deal and as we're on Minnesota already, make a run for Corey Brewer... Also (as I've mentioned before) Alonze Gee is stuck on that logjam in Denver perhaps try to get him... Brooks can be dealt to a point guard-needing team (e.g. Lakers, Rockets), Dunleavy to a contending team (Spurs, Cavs, perhaps Blazers), and isn't the Warriors been wooing Kirk for some time now? Be it straight up or via multi-team deals along with Sacramento's 1st rounder and their 2nd rounders, I can say it's possible they can get deals with impactful players given the right combination for the bait...
draymond green is like luis scola with 3pt shooting

or a quicker Boris Diaw... I reckon they're still figuring out their defensive gameplan amidst all of these new players and recurring injuries... they're not this soft last year hope they'll get back into rhythm by January...
