I like how you shit all over Leftos thinking that he didn't bring anything to 2k15....wow talk about some blatant disrespect.....once you work for a company that has POLICIES on what to do and what not to do then you will understand. Hell if I had a dream job like LEFTOS I would follow suit as well.

Saying that 2k had no intention to put a stop on modding by hiring leftos, jao and vlad is as speculative as saying that they did. No one really knows what their true intentions are, and you're all guessing, both sides. Plus we don't even know yet if they're negotiating with him in order to hire him or negotiating in order to make him stop selling the tool.

There are only 2 certainties here:

1) They definitely don't want to make modding easier: if they did they could have released modding tools, or let leftos and jao help the people who try to make the game moddable. They might not care, or they might not want us to mod the game, but they certainly don't want to make it easier to mod the game. In that respect, no company will ever be as good as CD Projekt Red (The Witcher).

2) By hiring the most prominent modders and disallowing them to continue in the community, the modding community will be weaker. This might be or might not be what they're after, regardless, the outcome will be the same. NLSC won't be like before.

You're reaching so much it's not even funny. I was hired for my passion for the game, and because I could contribute much more by working on the actual source code instead of spending my living days trying how to reverse engineer everything about the game. Go and listen/watch the Trials Let's Play between me and Jon, and then listen to the NLSC interview I did a few weeks ago. If all 2K wanted to do is stop modding, they're paying me way too much money for it. If 2K wanted to shut down modding, it would've done so.

As for Jon... I was asked to recommend the most passionate with NBA 2K person that I knew from the States and that had strong ties with the community so that it would be easy to scour and keep in touch with it, and the answer was extremely easy.

There's no conspiracy theory. Same with Bedwardsroy, same with Scott O' Gallagher, same with Da Czar, 2K is hiring the most passionate people to make it more amazing than ever.

I would in no case rather be modding this game given the experience I've had in the first year at VC. Modding alone would've never allowed me to add all the features that were added to franchise modes this year, or the improvements to the logic all around. Modding alone wouldn't have allowed me to directly interact with this amazing team and influence parts of the game I didn't even know I was interested in until I joined VC.

So I'm sorry if these hires set modding back a bit, if at all, but your theory is completely false. There were plenty of modders before Jon and me, and there will be modders after us.

Just out of curiosity, did Leftos say this today or the past couple of days due to what's been told in this thread or had he written this someplace some time ago?

he wrote it when they signed jao and we joked about how 2k is ruining modding.

for me it was very CLEAR that 2K just want to kill modding community
if not when they hire LEFTOS, so when they hire JAO just for 2KTV (amazing show common.. )
and now VLAD join to the party (IMHO)
(and i didn't talk about the stupid compress files with a tons of zips for what......)

this tool, which is crucial to a quick transition into modding this title, is caught up now in "negotiations."

How was RED MC going to be "crucial"? Greg is about to release his tool with an import feature, which is identical to what Vlad was going to release.
