I will root for Turkey. However our team gets old year-by-year.

I will try to tell about 2014 Turkey squad, as possible as I can.

TURKEY – Omer Asik, Kerem Tunceri, Sinan Guler, Ender Arslan, Oguz Savas, Kerem Gonlum, Cenk Akyol, Baris Ermis, Emir Preldzic, Furkan Aldemir, Cedi Osman, Baris Hersek

Differences with Eurobasket 2013 Turkey squad:
Out - Hedo Turkoglu, Semih Erden, Ersan Ilyasova, Birkan Batuk, Serhat Cetin, Dogus Balbay
In - Baris Hersek, Furkan Aldemir, Cedi Osman, Cenk Akyol, Baris Ermis, Kerem Tunceri

The removals had a mediocre performance at Eurobasket 2013, especially Hedo Turkoglu. He was banned from NBA for several months due to drug use. Semih Erden (played at Celtics with Big 3 and Shaq before, 2010-11 season) had a disappointing season with Efes at TBL and Euroleague. You know Ilyasova from NBA.

Other players are removed at training camps. They had average seasons too, but not worse as the ones I mentioned.

Tunceri, Ermis and Akyol are experienced players. You may remember Akyol from 2005 NBA Draft. A guy that his draft rights are traded a few times. There are some more Turkish players like that (Aldemir, Ilkan Karaman).

Kerem Tunceri scored the game-winning layup against Serbia at 2010 FIBA World Championship semifinals. IIRC Serbians objected that layup.
Here is a video of that basket:
phpBB [video]

Baris Ermis is a veteran point guard who played at various Turkish basketball teams. Furkan Aldemir is expected to be a satisfactory center and is drafted by LA Clippers. His draft rights are held by tanking Sixers. They can pick up him to tank. Baris Hersek is a young F-C, but not promising as Aldemir.

Cedi Osman is a wonder-kid! He is a slashing SG. He played at Anadolu Efes and he averaged 5.3 points this season at Turkish League.

I expected more youngsters at final squad, because I do not expect a successful performance from my team.

That's all for now. I may make a review after group matches are done.

Edit: Hedo's situation fixed.

Shit. No Canada.

Lol. No China? They import so many NBA player that I though their players would benefit playing with and against them. But then this is league 40 years old McGrady and Marbury are among the best...

AND what the fuck. Phillipines made it? Also Why is Blanche on their team?

We were lucky not to face China in the FIBA Asia Tournament and of course that f*cking homecourt advantage helped us also. Blatche was just naturalized recently though they were considering JaVale  .

Such a lucky one JaVale wasn't naturalized. Shaq will have a field day in Sevilla

And wow, lots of veterans were removed from Turkey. Go Omer!!

Fixed.

Fans in the region still obsessed with China and think of them as a strong team when Taiwan and S.Korea have been pwning China now. :?
Even the Philippines defeated China recently in the Asia Cup for 3rd place. If the Philippines haven't met Iran earlier the Philippines would have been 2nd place again like in the FIBA Asia Tournament.
Philippines national team coach was good enough to realize that the 2nd place in Asian tournaments (1st to Iran) will now be up for grabs with China's decline.

It's Iran now.
China is done. For now.
Deal with it.

Andray Blatche? Wonder no more...

I wanted Javale too just to see him and Japeth Aguilar be on the floor at the same time and make bonehead plays so the team will crash and burn from the embarrassment from those two.

Blatche is not helping the Philippines in getting back on this one although I always find myself cheering every time the PH team makes a 3. Such 3 pointers, much down.

Philippines said they wanted to play offense like the Spurs, so far they are playing like the Hawks.

I ain't even mad.

That defense and rebounding makes me sad though.

I would like to see a France squad kind of this one:

Batum - F
Causeur - G
De Colo - G
Diaw - F
Fournier - G
Gelabale - G/F
Gobert - C
Lauvergne - F
Mahinmi - C/F
Noah - C/F
Parker - G
Seraphin - F
Turiaf - F/C

This would smash most of the teams in FIBA World Cup.

It's not like they blew a 10 point lead in the 4th like Croatia did.

I didnt expect tthe kind of problems we are having with the pinoys.

I absolutely hate the pinoys, they are a bunch of flopping wimps, its like watching football and neymars on the court. They spend more time watching how theyll look than a tually playing, just showoff. I hope they dont win a game, pure hater.

God we suck, after the first quarter Croatia is just bad.

Lose. That's what happens when you expect the refs to bail you out.

Philippines ball rotation is shit. One pass then shoot.

Blatch almost had a triple-double, not enough turnovers to make it.

Leftos going to molest the Philippines in the next game.

Puerto Rico vs Philippines is the match to watch for me, I think those two teams match up well and not too much of a height disadvantage for the Philippines.
