Seriously, who is going to compete with them? The wizards?

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Mon Aug 04, 2014 5:45 pm

Prolly the Heat if they can add depth, preferably size and wing.

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Mon Aug 04, 2014 6:46 pm

lol at Heat fans thinking they can compete for more than a 1st round playoff appearance at best without LeBron.

Wade's done, he might show up with the occasional good games but that won't be consistent when the Heat need it most.
Only Bosh can carry the team now and even if he goes back to being Raptor Bosh the Heat will only be a bit better than those Bosh Raptors.

Those Hawks look good too once Horford returns and if they keep playing like Spurs-lite.

And maybe the Hornets too...

Rumor has it that there's a possibility of a 3-way with Bennett going to Philly and Thad Young to Minnesota which would be an even better deal than with the one with the Cavs only. A T-wolves team of Pekovic, Young, Wiggins, Lavine, and Rubio would be very fun to watch... Like the old JWill/CWebb Sacramento teams.

In the interim, hats off to Wiggins for the way he's handling an awkward situation.

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

crazy situation for sure. the wolves really are getting lucky here. landing wiggins for a player that is walking is an amazing deal and of course the cavs enter win now mode. i wish the deal could of already been done just so we would stop hearing about the "potential of love with lebron" every damn day but whatever

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Thu Aug 07, 2014 4:21 pm

Where is that guy who said the Cavs would be crazy to offer Wiggins? Iirc his name was benja or something.

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Agree with whoever said why not just wait it out? He's a FA come off-season. Lebron with the team they have right now is good enough for a Finals appearance. Then add Love while retaining Wiggins. Always in such a rush to please Lebron...

Varejao
Love
LeBron
Wiggins
Iriving

& Waiters off the bench for instant offense.

Why wouldn't you just wait it out? :?

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Thu Aug 07, 2014 6:49 pm

i am still on the side of waiting, i think sending wiggins for love is a bad move when you can get him for nothing next year. imo the cavs have to win this year otherwise this move is a huge mistake. right now the cavs are the best team in the east but if they keep wiggins and sign love they become the best team in the league next season and pretty much until lebron starts to drop off

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Fri Aug 08, 2014 1:06 am

Reports are swirling that this is a done deal. Bennett, Wiggins, and a protected 2015 draft pick.

So much for expecting that the Cavs should wait for next year.

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Fri Aug 08, 2014 5:28 am

its clear that they were not waiting a year but that does not change the fact that they should. i was reading that love wont even sign an extension but instead has agreed to opt out at the end of the season then sign a 5 year deal, sounds like it has some serious back fire potential.

cavs better win this season now or this trade is stupid as hell. anything short of a championship is a major fail

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Love now has more to gain staying a Cavalier because they can offer more money. And he should and will stay a Cavalier.

You guys keep talking like it was a done deal for Love to come to the Cavs next offseason at cost of nothing. That's simply a bullshit talk. Only reason you guys are saying craps like that is because you guys underrate Love greatly and wouldn't really mind losing him to another team. But he's a top 5 player in this league and it's a great move to secure him when you can.

Wiggins is a project. Let him own this league in 5 or 7 years. For now you want to win titles with LBJ and not gamble away his good years.

Keep eyes on LBJ, Love, and Varejao trio. They are the top 3 players for the Cavs and will win you a lot of games. Fourth/Fifth best player(s) and depth? Having this trio allows you to get away with pretty much any volume shooters and role players. They now can sit and rest key players and still end up being #1 seed in East. This move solidified that. With Love, they standout, without they didn't. They separated themselves from rest of the pack.

He's made it pretty much clear he wants to play with Lebron. If he's dictating where he wants to go now already why can't he just as well decide to play alongside Lebron after this season?

What seems like "simply bullshit talk" to you, seems like common sense to others.

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Fri Aug 08, 2014 7:15 am

Love barely hinted willingness to re-sign if traded to Cavs because of LBJ. I don't know on what ground Love to the Cavs one way or the other without giving up anything was a guaranteed thing for the Cavs. Are the Cavs the new Lakers?

What farce.

what a great deal for the t'wolves considering the circumstances.

what's with the wagon of "waiting a year" to get love? new cleveland GM James just got embarrassed in this year's finals. he's turning 30 this year and he's not going to waste a year and roll the dice on landing Love next offseason. dude wants to win now and you can't fault Cleveland for that... even if they could have waited it just a little bit longer/really have Love force Minny's hand.

Bulls vs Cavs 4 times during the regular season!

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Great deal for both teams. It could certainly pay off for the Timberwolves in the future, and they're getting something for Love before he walks. The Cavs are getting an All-Star talent at quite an affordable price.

Certainly a unique situation with this year's number one pick being traded before playing a minute in the NBA (Summer League aside) but not on Draft day (a la Chris Webber), and packaged alongside the number one pick from the previous year to boot.

if the cavs win the title this year then i cant argue with the trade but they have to win this year or its a bad move imo

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Fri Aug 08, 2014 2:41 pm

If they don't win it this year it would be a major blow to LeBron and his legacy, the whole coming home and shitting on Miami thing. That's I why they care less for Wiggins I guess. At this moment, he could turn out to be another Bennett while Love is a proven factor.

It would be hilarious if Wiggins does better than Love next season and wins Rookie of the Year though

Without any serious injuries, the Cavs are doomed to make it to the ECF at least. Anything less should be considered as a failiure.
Imo Cleveland will come ro regrett trading Wiggins, as they're only an average defensive team with him on the roster. Without him they lack a second player to guard the wings after LBJ.

Re: Love not interested in staying longer in Minnesota

Fri Aug 08, 2014 4:31 pm

Don't forget Boozer was a part of league top defensive team for years. Love was part of average defensive team last season. Peko isn't much at D, Rubio and Brewer were good defensively but they aren't anything LBJ special. With LBJ and Varejao, they'll be fine. Perhaps not among elites defensively but still in the thick of things. Don't forget defense is system first and individual ability second.

IMO anything less than 5th straight Finals would be a failure for LBJ now.
