Talk about NBA 2K14 here.
Sun Nov 03, 2013 3:30 pm
Since 2K is already giving us constant updates, our mods are being overwritten by the Online Data. Can someone make the Keep My Mod Tool compatible to NBA 2K14? Leftos? Anyone...
Sun Nov 03, 2013 3:34 pm
Leftos is working for 2K Sports as a developer on the game, so he won't be able to make any more tools. All his stuff is open source however, if someone else would like to give it a try. I don't have the know-how myself.

I understand. If that's the case, is there any way that we can still use the mods that we installed in the game while keeping some updates by 2K? I think Jao knew how to do it manually.

I recorded a video on it yesterday and butchered it, I will try again today.

I downloaded the project off Leftos' github and changed all the paths, somebody adventurous should try this and see if it works:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/820 ... epMyMod.7zAS IS. NO WARRANTY. NO REFUNDS. BLAME LEFTOS' LAZY CODE.
If it works I'll repackage with Inno Setup and upload it to the database.

Here are the errors that I get when I start the new tool

try installing the 2k13 version first, the one from leftos with the installer and everything, then running the one benji updated
Sat Mar 29, 2014 12:50 pm
That's what I did. Then I ran the updated .exe by benji. Still getting the same error.

Hey guys, you don't need to edit the code. Here's what I came up with. KMM looks for a certain registry value to verify 2K13 is installed, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\2K Sports\NBA 2K13. If you have it edit it's values so the paths point to 2K14. If you don't export 2K14 folder and edit the folder name to 2K13 and import. Then the tool will try to locate nba2k13.exe, if you have it don't select it, go to 2K14 game folder and write nba2k14.exe. That's all it takes, it works like a charm for me!

Could you please explain this in a way that us less-than-tech-savvy people can understand.

Start type 'regedit' (without quotes) press enter, say yes to the control dialog.
In the registry editor, navigate to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\2K Sports\NBA 2K14' by opening the respective folders.
Right click on the 'NBA 2K14' folder and select 'Export', choose any name and destination.
Go to the folder where you just exported the file and locate it, right click and select 'Edit'.
Locate this text '[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\2K Sports\NBA 2K13]' and change it to '[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\2K Sports\NBA 2K14]' (just the 3 for a 4).
Save and now double click the file to append it to the registry, accept all the dialog boxes to go on.
Run Keep My Mod.
When it asks for the location of 'nba2k13.exe' navigate to your NBA 2K14 installation folder, usually 'C:\Program Files (X86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\NBA 2K14' and type in the 'Path' box 'nba2k14.exe' and accept.
That should be it, now the tool doesn't run the game, don't try it, just run it yourself then Alt+Tab to the tool once you're at the main menu and click 'Force Keep My Mods'.
If you don't find your rosters go to the tool and click on 'Restore custom rosters'.
Once you exit the game for any reasons, click on 'Restore Online Data Backup' to avoid the game from downloading everything the next time you launch the game.
