Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

So I tried with open office calc, and was extremely overwhelmed. I am trying with DB commander now, in the tools tab there is a statistics option. So I clicked on it and found the column for birthdates, I tried to subtract 50000 thinking that would make players in this roster file 5 years older but.. no dice. I'm sure I might have done something wrong, but I have backed up the necessary files.
So what I wanted to ask, is how would you proceed when trying to alter (in this case subtract) a value from a single column in the player.dbf? I tried an age-fix in the downloads section but when reloading the roster I see that their ages are still calculated the same.

That's basically how it's done. I just Excel for that instead.

Well... if anyone can find me a tutorial or some steps for using either open office or Excel I'd gladly acquire the ladder and try it for myself. Or I can send the rosters to whomever knows how or something, actually the particular rosters I wanted to add 5 years to (now 6, 7 and 8 for each roster progressively actually with further examination of other player's ages) are my own recently uploaded rosters in the downloads section.

These instructions originally come courtesy of JaoSming and are the steps I follow to adjust player ages when I'm creating the Age Fixes:
well what I do is copy out the entire column to a new spreadsheet
paste it in then a few cells away, in the same row though, type = then click the top birthdate then add the -50000
once that is in, select the cell with the updated birthdate, youll see a little black square in the bottom right of the cell
click, hold, and drag that down till you edit all of the values
then copy it back into the dbf
