Welp, so much for the Sixers and Timberwolves title hopes now, and just when everyone had come to a consensus that they were basically unbeatable and the most likely Finals matchup.

Nets vs Heat in the Finals duh.

The NBA is going to let the two bestest teams battle it out this year, special exception to the whole East/West thing.

76ers brought down to ground. Meh, it's only ONE GAME. They might just up that fire again.

It was damn nice to see Iggy in beast mode though (Y)

NovU wrote:Russell Westbrook's return was a nice surprise. He's beat the schedule by miles. It was said that he could miss upto 1/4 the season but seems like he's missed only 1 week. (Y)

The difference between Westbrook and Rose?

IN HEAT, don't stop, bro. I'm getting more and more scared each day.

Difference is both have different injuries and severity of injury.

Seems like Westbrook already healed before his second surgery and his second time under the knife was just for cleaning that is if no complications arise again during the season or if Thunder management is to be believed.
Or Westbrook did a Chris Paul by having his torn meniscus removed instead of waiting for it to heal.

NovU wrote:The Thunder should still be able to contend with what they have though. Only thing missing from their Finals season is Harden. Since then Ibaka/Westbrook/Durant core has matured, experienced, and are in midst of prime. They filled Harden's void quite well last season. I'm looking forward to their season this year. But I agree on Perkins. C is one position the Thunder really could use upgrade on. Perhaps Perkins himself knows it too. I think Steven Adams will gradually settle into bigger role in place of Perkins as season matures.

I agree with you on the lack of having Harden but regardless I was personally never sold to that "structure" of a team. And they did not replace him well. Kevin Martin is mainly a one-dimensional player while Harden is a lot more rounded than him and he played a big part in leading the second unit. That being said I'm not a "hater" of the Thunder (not that you accused me of being one); I just don't agree with their "philosophy". Most of the Finals of that series vs the Heat, the Thunder ran a lot of isolation plays, forced plays to happen when they couldn't, and usually lacked half-court sets late in the 4th to utilize. I will say that their offense in transition was solid. Maybe it's because I'm a bit old-fashioned but normally teams that lack an inside presence and that lack a well structured half-court offense usually don't do well in the Finals. Obviously there are major exceptions in not having an inside presence like the 90's Bulls and such. But if you think about it, Phil Jackson had implemented the triangle in which Jordan became that "inside presence" whenever he was posting up and running the triangle as usual. If Durant can develop an effective post game, then he can be that inside presence in order to make up for the lack of it.

I don't believe Westbrook or Ibaka are in the midst of their prime at all. Westbrook can be a much more efficient point guard in terms of making plays, controlling the tempo, and being smart with the ball. I usually hate on him the most because he has so much potential and talent that if he was a lot smarter, he would be impossible to stop. Ibaka still is a raw prospect in my opinion and has a lot of potential to be taught further. He usually gets his points on assists from teammates, offensive rebounds, loose balls, and mid-range jumpers but rarely do I see him post up effectively. Maybe he isn't getting the looks he needs or has he already hit his ceiling? I agree on Steve Adams, maybe he can takeover for Perkins later on in the season.

Specifically, Rose's was a complete ACL tear, while Westbrook's was described as a slight meniscus tear.

Jordan didn't have a post game during the Bulls first threepeat afaik.
The Triangle needs a big that knows how to position in the low or high post and smart enough to recognize and pass it to cutters or to move the ball to an open man, a role that had been done well by Cartwright/Grant, Longley/Rodman, Shaq, and Pau Gasol.

I still dont understand how anybody can question Rose's decision to stay away until being completely healthy. It's still an ACL tear. Ten years ago some players would not even return from such an injury. Plus look at examples like Gilbert Arenas, T-Mac or Grant Hill. Started too early after injury and busted their careers. Most of you would be the first one to say: started too early, now he sucks, dumbass!

I don't have anything against Rose, I just think he took it a bit too far. He could have returned earlier, if he just had that mentality. Maybe Bulls would have beaten Miami with all the fuss if he did.

Westbrook is hungry to contribute for his team even when is not at his "100%". That's the difference.

When Kobe got injured, he still made the free throws before leaving, that's the mentality.

A doctor telling you not to play but you do it anyway is different from a doctor telling you to play but instead you don't.

Questions were there because Bulls medical staff cleared him to play and a lot of Bulls fans wanted him for the Heat series. Personally I think it was a great decision especially considering seriousness of his injury.

I agree, though it could have been handled better. We didn't learn until after the season that while he was medically cleared - ie it was determined that he had healed and not at immediate risk of re-injuring his ACL - he still wasn't ready and was still working his way up to being able to do all the things that he used to, while feeling comfortable and confident on his surgically repaired knee. If the Bulls had been a bit more open about that, it would've cleared things up and stopped some of the speculation.

For me, Sanders's been the biggest disappointment of the season so far. :shake: He just got paid good too offseason. This is not looking pretty for the Bucks.

police sources say Sanders started that fight while in the VIP room - a fight where Sanders allegedly broke champagne bottles over a man's head while security tried to break up the fight.'

He also allegedly punched the man's brother in the eye.

The Bucks said that Sanders would not play Wednesday night due to a hand injury.

Well then.

Here are the games to watch if you are feeling for some Saturday night basketball!

INDIANA Pacers at BROOKLYN Nets
Undefeated Goalith versus Nets that could be a match up nightmare even for Pacers' suffocating defense.

LA Clippers at HOUSTON Rockets
This is huge, battle of two evenly matched Western Powerhouse. Rockets coming off a disappointing home loss against the LAL, they want to rebound strong while Clippers also looks to rebound from a loss against Heat.

I ignored my buddy's calls so that I could stay home to catch these games, lol.
