Pacers offense revolves entirely around Hibbert.

Nicholson looks to have improved over last year.

Heat jerseys are awful (corner 3sssss)

They had similar jerseys last year on opening night, no big deal.

I like the kid too. But I am guessing Magic's fully committed to developing Tobias Harris. Minutes will be scarce for Nicholson.

Well since it's only a game in the season for the Magic, it's a little bit early to take away minutes from a proven talented wing like Tobias.

So where does MCW's debut rank amongst the all time greats?

22/12/7/9 with one turnover and personal foul. Near Quad Double while beating the reigning back to back champs on a shit team.

It has to be one of the most impressive debuts in the modern era at the very least. Very entertaining game, a great victory for a team that's supposedly tanking but has a bit of talent there, talent that's obviously still looking to go out and try to win.

Durant with 24 shot attempts and 24 freethrow attempts. The kid attacks the rim hard.

The Kid also got banged hard. He definitely earned those free throws.
MCW's debut was great to watch. I hope it's not something like the 55 points Jennings had in his rookie season but never again afterwards...
Despite his 7 TOs I liked what I saw from Monta Ellis and Klay Thompson's 38 were just awesome.
Also great games by Love and Howard. This could really be a fun season to watch.

He kind of has no choice, if he wants his team to win games. Wouldn't be surprised if he averages 35+ points a game until Westbrook comes back.

Awesome debut by Monta Ellis in a Mavs uniform.
Carter is still in 6th man form, love it

7 TO by Ellis still bothers me a bit. But with such prolific FG%/ast/pts, I guess you can't really complain too much.

SteveHTOWN wrote:The Kid also got banged hard. He definitely earned those free throws.

For sure, he's no flopper and rightfully earns his way to charity line most times. But that's not to say he doesn't get his share of superstar calls time to time, maybe due to benefit of doubt given as respect by refs.

Speaking of officiating, what pissed me off last season was calls on Teague or DeRozan. Every game of theirs I watched, they were a victim of officiating at least once per game.

Refs are just making it up to Durant for that noncall in the final seconds in game 2 of the 2012 NBA Finals.

Pretty high, I'd say:

Carter-Williams finished with 22 points, 12 assists, nine steals and seven rebounds.

• Carter-Williams’ nine steals were the most in a debut since steals became an official stat in 1973-74.

• His 12 assists were the second-most in a career debut in NBA history, trailing only Ernie DiGregorio, who had 14 for the Buffalo Braves in 1973-74

• The 22-12-9-7 combination is one achieved only twice previously by anyone in any NBA game. Ricky Green had a 26-12-9-7 for the Utah Jazz in November, 1982, and Johnny Moore put up a 26-13-9-11 for the San Antonio Spurs in January, 1985.

SteveHTOWN wrote: I hope it's not something like the 55 points Jennings had in his rookie season but never again afterwards...

While he won't keep posting near-quadruple double numbers, it's unlikely. Jennings just had a great shooting night when he scored 55, MCW has been known for his good defense, playing the passing lanes well, nice court vision and being very versatile for a point guard. The only thing that was really weird is that he made 4 threes, but he was making a few in the preseason as well, so maybe he has seriously improved that jumper already.

I guess the Heat got what they had coming for being too confident and thinking they can blow Philly out without even sweating. Let's enjoy the win, because there won't be many more of them this season.

I don't know that they were overconfident, I think they were just sluggish on the second night of a back to back (and missing Dwyane Wade), while the Sixers got off to a ridiculous start and ultimately overachieved with the amount of energy, hustle and effort they brought to the table.

Yes, they were overconfident, but shouldn't they have been? I mean this team last scored 110 or + in a season opener last in the 1990 against Bulls. But I'd say good for both the Heat and 76ers. The Heat needed a lesson to never underestimate any team, not even the Celtics.

We don't know what was going through their minds so I suppose we can't say it with any certainty, but I'm not sure that it was overconfidence or underestimating the 76ers. I thought it was just one of those things, an unexpected result in a game featuring the defending champions taking on a team that isn't expected to even make the Playoffs. Miami were getting some good shots early on; if they were actually dropping, they'd have kept pace and probably blown the game wide open in the second quarter, instead of just eking out a two point lead by halftime.

Maybe they took the 76ers too lightly, maybe they didn't. Had they made some shots here and there that they'd normally knock down but on this occasion didn't, they'd have probably won and perhaps won convincingly. Like I said, just one of those things that sometimes happens, but probably won't happen too often for a team as good and experienced as Miami. Hats off to the 76ers of course, but given the circumstances, they probably caught a couple of lucky breaks too. They likely won't have a win that impressive for the rest of the season and it likely won't be a problem for the Heat moving forward either.

That's unfair man. They certainly did come out strong & if this spirit is up and going rest of the season, who knows? Even the playoffs could be a target.
