You guys are confused...the dunk contest will not be meant as a realistic nba simulation mode. It will be meant as a FUN nba arcade mode.

Most of the dunks that are humanly possible and are exciting have been done before....why fault EA for making the dunk contest more fun? I dunno about yall..but im tired of windmill, between the legs and 360's ALL the time.

This stuff is grrrrreat! All-Star weekend. The videos look really good. I like how they said 35 different shot styles will be in the game. :D

In the three-point shootout, different players will actually shoot with their authentic motions so you'll be able to tell the difference from Antoine Walker's ugly shot to Reggie Miller's, well, ugly shot. In all, there are 35 different shooting styles.

My bad..i thought you meant they said it would be in the actual games...5 on 5. I knew about it being in the 3-point contest.

i think i am going against the grain here when i say my favorite part of all star weekend(without actually playing the game mind you) will be the rookie game. thats what i wanted more than anything. i still like the dunk contest and 3 point contest but to me during my dynasty the rookie game means more, probably followed by the 3 point contest then dunk. i really think the dunk contest will be at its best when your friends come over and you can go head to head.

The rookie game will be really fun but not as fun as the dunk contest.

I have been waiting 3-4 years now for this year and I am thankful for it.

:)

I can't wait!

My guess is that they will still be involved in the game...It's just a guess though.

if they have it in the 3 point contest mode, i don't see why it won't be incorporated into the normal 5 on 5 mode.

I'm glad the dunk contest has some exagerrated dunks. DR J, Jordan, and Nique did dunks that people didn't think were possible. That's what makes the dunk contest the shiznit. And I;m sure the 720's are hard to do.....

The great thing about all of this is that it is also in dynasty mode. :proud: That right there makes dynasty mode so much better.

fully agreed. this ontop of the revamped offseason and the fact they will finally have real dollar amounts for contracts is the shot in the arm the nba live series really needed imo. i really want...hmm, no i really need this game now.

It's EA they don't make sense.

But seriously, I think that the different shot styles will be in the 5-on-5 as well. Maybe even (this is being optimistic) being able to choose what way your created player shoots. That would be cools.

The slam dunk contest:ok, it's an arcade mode and it will be one of the funniest modes in nba live's history......but i saw the movie and it's too arcade...but it's funny i think the have to let kg do a (for example) a backboard alley-oop and 360.
Because he is 7 foots and if you wanna dunk like this or let it pass trough the legs 3 times or over the back with a spin on the camera.....and more, take lebron or richardson or Desmond Mason.
That's it...but i just can't wait for IT!!!!

But what kind of dunk contest would it be if you can't pull off original stuff? It's all in the name of fun.

I wonder if there will be a create a dunk mode...

luckily if you dont like the dunk contest you can just ignore it and never have to worry about it. there will be plenty of other new things that will make live great(imo the dunk contest dont make it great as i only play dynasty but i know i will enjoy it each season when it comes up)

I agree... this year's contest when Richardson did the off-the-backboard-through-the-legs dunk, I wasn't really impressed because people have already done through-the-legs dunks and also off-the-backboard dunks, he just combined them. Freddy Jones did something new... he used audience members  (that was cool). And Chris Andersen was robbed... he should try again next year.

oh my man i live for slam dunk contest...the all star game is just the most funny and spectacular exhibition of all sports.
And we can live it this year on our pc's!
For me, it's not important if Earl Boykins jump 3 meters high and dunk trough the legs (He remember me Spudd Webb :) ) or if Shaquille O'neal do a jump from the three point line or some other strange dunk.
This is the slam dunk contest and it can be funny in all cases.
I just asked for a bit more appropriated dunks for the players

From the main page:

Andrew wrote:Apparently not all of the jumpshot styles that are in the three point shootout will be available in the regular 5-on-5 mode. Similarly, the dunks that can be executed in the dunk contest will not be available in regular gameplay (which is of course good news for those of us who are realism freaks. There will however be a great deal of dunks available in 5-on-5 mode (apparently 20,000).

To address another question/rumour, there will be no "Freestyle Dunk Mode" in addition to the Dunk Contest.
