As my cousin and a few friends talk about going to the midnight launch, I can't help but feel a twinge of regret at ordering from a site that sources from the UK, knowing it'll be a couple of weeks at least before I'm playing the game. My knowledge that it was a savvy purchase that saved at least 20 bucks is doing what it can to pacify my inner gamer.

Real quick first impressions.

Shooting feels so satisfying. Really crisp.

Driving is alright, really sticky with the right cars. Makes me realize how much I liked IV's driving though. Not that it's worse though, just different and is gonna take some time to getting used to.

AI enemies are much better shots. Getting down to half of your health happens really quickly if you abuse the covering method like in IV. Luckily you regain your health up to 50%.

At first glance car damage seems to have taken a step back. You'll see light collisions that will not leave a dent in the car. However, in fact it's really detailed if you go all melee on your car and kick its windows and fenders in.

Annoying loading times between choosing different clothes and stuff like that is gone.

You can flip people off while driving. :D

Overall atmosphere - awesome.

Too many spoilers out. I've tried to avoid reddit and GTA V news the last week or so as the game slowly leaks out.

I pre-ordered GTA V today and will pick it up tomorrow. I look forward to free-roaming Los Santos tomorrow night.

Like the last 2 GTAs, I'll go ahead and wait for the PC version here. Based on everything I've seen about it so far, that would feel like a complete waste having to play this on PS3, I'd rather be patient. Way too much stuff to play in the meantime anyway.

Never played GTA for PC but was thinking of getting this one for it. Is it that much better and why? What types of mods are usually made??

I didn't get to enjoy too many mods in the last GTA, but the series is much easier to tweak on PC, since it typically comes out with plenty of optimization issues that are pretty much unavoidable with a game of this scope. It will obviously look much, much better on a good PC, and I'm thinking hat the gameplay will feel better too.

I haven't heard anything about performance issues from the early console players. They must have really optimized the game and its engine to expand the world so much.

As for mods on the pc version, it's more about what can't be done. Look up gta iv mods and you will get a good glimpse of what to expect once tools start to become available.

the 30 minute delay for PSN to have the game ready for download was nothing short of spectacular on twitter. Anyway, downloading now, sleep for a bit, then, well, you know.

Depends, Oct 1 is 2K14 day as well remember.

I just stole my first car after an hour of gameplay.....huh. I've just been grinding missions and a couple strangers and freaks, which included meeting Packie from IV! That was awesome!

PSN version does not have the pop-in that the installed 360 disc issue has, at least as far as I've played and as fast as I've driven. The only issue for me is the jaggies...oh, the jaggies. 1080p HDMI. I will, and should, switch to 720p component and be ready to record if I want.
