Even if he could, he probably wouldn't be allowed to.

But he (Leftos) let the window open for you Nesa, get in touch with him, maybe "INDIRECTLY" you can find some clue about it.

No one doesn't necessarily have to break the rules to get it. So keep working my friend, and you gotta find your answers. :D

Re: NBA2K Music Format - need help

The header on these seems to be possibly around 90-94 bytes as there is ever repeating similarities, possibly basic header followed by an decoding table(?) thus the 00s prior to main data that is very dense.

It would be doubtful this is adpcm if such small filesizes vs lenght, in any case, file is 44khz stereo according to header which means PCM output bitrate of 1411kbps and that in adpcm is 352kbps, so filesize should be more than 320kbps mp3 encoded of a song.

If microsoft xaudio2 system is used to handle all audio literally, it outlines formats available to MS ADPCM,XMA (only xbox360),wma,xwma (?)

WMA is possible for being used in the lower sizes than adpcm is capable of, either way, looks very custom job atleast header wise and can't say more as not so familiar with wma and its variants.

Should record the song and find its encoded version and encode with various fixed kbps ratio (say mp3) to find closest match to the filesize to suggest the level of compression/codec used.

That's what I did, essentially. Instead of multiple bitrate encodes, I just did one then used math.

Re: NBA2K Music Format - need help

Sat May 25, 2013 3:03 am

xaudio2 is used
every song section (3sec part) starts at +0x00000060 offset of section start (discovered 2 days ago)

if i do something tonight
if not i am making break for 10days since i have other issue to deal with

And please big thanks to Apollo

Re: NBA2K Music Format - need help

Tue Jun 04, 2013 6:42 pm

i have contacted ADPCM expert and he writes to me that it isnt ADPCM
even there are memory points for ADPCM decompression it isnt one

so back to lab

i dont have time to mess with this
my mother has bloodpressure issue so i am not into music and game

Info from my friend

Code:
thanks for your message. Unfortunately, I won't have time to put
research into a file format right now. Just some observations from a
quick glance at the sample file on the XeNTaX forum:

- Regular ADPCM-compressed data shows a very distinct pattern in a
byte-wise histogram. An analysis of the sample file, however, indicates
no presence of ADPCM data.
- The header of each of the 4K chunks starts with the sequence 69 a1 be
d2. Interpreted as a little endian value, this is actually the CRC32
checksum of the string "WMA". This might indicate that further research
into WMA decompression should be in order.

and second one

Code:
No problem, I did really not explain it further: The file is organized
in blocks (or "chunks") of 4 kilobytes size, where only part of the 4
kilobytes seem to actually be used for audio data. The rest is just
padded. That's essentially the same observation the guy named PDub made
in the third post here: http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5234

His observations about file sizes and compression ratios in the thread
on forums.nba-live.com also support the theory that the data is not just
regular ADPCM.

As I said, don't rule out the possibility that the data might be encoded
in some WMA variation. I'm no expert in that department, however. The
CRC32 finding I mentioned in my last email is a bit too interesting to
be a coincidence in my eyes ...

hope that someone can make it right
I dont have time

"WMA variation" can also mean xma or xma2, also known as Xaudio/Xaudio2.

EDIT - Think I figured it out. It should be xWMA, possibly 32000 bitrate.

good luck
i helped as much as i could

Apparently not. It may actually by Xaudio2. But the bitrate has to be correct.

Well it apears that it isnt ADPCM
It looks like its ASF WMAv2 32kbps 44100 Stereo
Only that sound ingame isnt clear
Maybe its Endianness order

And team chants seem to be stored in teams.bin

More info when i have time/progress
