I had some fun with this for a while, but the gameplay was just too unrealistic for me. I probably only pressed the break button twice and made my way through the game pretty easily. Fun, but not my cup of tea.

Question for you and pretty much anyone else, What was the last racing game you played that you could just pick up, play, and have fun?

I played the Pure demo the other day, I don't think I'll pick it up but it was fun. I was fixing up an old PC the other day and played the original Need for Speed for the first time in years, brought back some fond memories.

GRID 1

Postby [Q] on Tue May 28, 2013 5:38 pm

Played Grid 1 for a little bit. got to try derby mode, which is tricky because all I want to do is wreck other cars but that won't help me finish the race in one piece. tried a drift race which was hard because they want you to actually race too. then i played the first single player race and the single player mode seems pretty cool the way that it's presented.

It was a trip when the game called me by my name because the only other game i've played that does that is NBA Live but my last name is unique so they never said my name in NBA Live.

btw, i saw an impreza in the game, so i must get it. how does buying cars work in this game? do you have to get to a certain level to unlock them?

and i don't like how the game takes screenshots when you crash. it's just a reminder of how much you suck :(

Moved your ass to the Grid 1 topic.

Impreza is a drift only car in that game. To get it, you gotta buy it when attempting a drift event iirc. So I think its money based.

the drift races piss me off. how do they expect you to stay ahead of other cars while driving sideways??

in other news, it's funny that they still give you money for losing so i managed to scrape enough money together for losing enough races to get the impreza and am currently dominating the freestyle drifting (Y)
the silvia drift challenge is getting easier but i still have no idea how to drift the RX-7 on that narrow track.

this game is really irritating me. i can only win events that dont involve other cars. i always wind up getting bumped and get sent to last place. the balance/physics of the cars seems a little off to me. and derby mode is a bit contradictory. they are obviously encouraging collisions bteween cars, but if you hit too many things, you lose. what's the fun in that? i want to take everybody out

turn down the difficulty if you can't handle it :P

and use flashbacks if you crash

GOG.com had the PC version on sale for $7.49, so I decided to give it a shot.

problem is the drift (not drift race) & speed challenges are too easy on normal but everything else sucks

and use flashbacks if you crash

problem is when I crash it's not severe enough to bring up the replay so I can't flashback and I instantly drop to last trying to crash myself again to get the flashback

Did anyone ever play Whiplash by Interplay? I loved that game. they should do a remake of that one

lol

either pause the game (instant replay), or if you are using a controller press the back/select button. You can flashback at any time.
