Ladies and Gentleman, I don't believe it....

Game 1: DAL @ LAL Lakers lose 167-156 Leading Scorer: Jamison (56)
Game 2: DAL @ LAL Lakers lose 126-99
Shaq giving the throwdown. Bradley displaying the tough defense that he's famous for
Game 3: LAL @ DAL Lakers win 127-126 High Scorer: Cook (49)
ReCap: The game started out with the Lakes dominating- putting the Mavs frontline into early foul trouble. Mid 2nd quarter: Lakers were up 15 but as the Mavs starters slowly came back into the lineup, so did their confidence in chipping away at the lead. Dallas caught up and passed the L.A. with about 3 minutes to go in the game and it seemed their season was slipping away. Michael Finley had the opportunity to nail the coffin with a three but came short with 11 seconds to go. With the season in the balance, the Lakers dumped the ball to the high post to Little H. Backing down his defender, nailed a short jump hook with 1 sec left in regulation. Novitzki's buzzer beater shot at the end fell to the right which saved the Lakers season and avoided the 0-3 deficit going into game 4.
The Voice of the Coach,
Phil Jackson: "Adjustments…interestingly enough, we switched to zone to limit the drives and relied heavily on Cook and Oneal for their inside scoring presence on the other end. Little H.'s triple double helped saved the day…and the series."
Game 4: LAL @ DAL Lakers win 161- 151 High Scorer: Cook (60)
ReCap:
The Voice of the Coach,
Phil Jackson: "The difference between the first two games...well first off, we went back to the most offensive potent lineup with
Cook and
Shaq doing the majority of the damage rather than resort to our democratic scoring. Secondly, we realized especially from last season that there really isn't any margin for error against the Mavs, so our players really have take care of the ball in addition to knowing where to hit the highest percentage shot. Hence, going down low and working inside then outside. Another adjustment we did was to take advantage of our second chance opportunies and not just try to cram the ball as soon as we get the chance."
The Voice of the Player,
Spike Faulk: "Hopefully we'll learn from our past mistakes and really go down their throat when we get home. Goldy[Goldberg], Smoove[Kapov], and Shorty[Wagner] realize that we have to we resort to the big guns at least for this series. Shorty was mouthing off to Coach Jackson about his reduced minutes but I'm pretty sure Shaq set him straight."
Note: Cook recorded his first trip double of the year.
Game 5: DAL @ LAL Lakers lose 136-131
There was hope in the L.A. air, as Finley briefly sat out with a leg injury.
League offices doubled Wagner's usual fine to $20,000 for his high flying comment:
Para-quoting the great Explosivo, "Suck my d**k, Raef, SUCK IT!"
Game 6: LAL @ DAL Lakers Win 170-166 OT High Scorer: Cook (63)
ReCap: With their season on the line, L.A. made two valiant come backs, one being in overtime to tie the series at 3 games apiece and lived to see another game. In their first game 7 in five years since their come from behind Sacramento series, this nightbiter finale almost would not have existed if it weren't for the heroics of Brian Cook and Little H.'s Quadruple double. Heading into the 4th quarter, the L.A all of a sudden turned cold.
The Voice of the Player,
Little H.: "All of a sudden I looked up at the board and we were down 9 with three minutes to go and I was thinking, 'Could this be the end of our reign? The Mav big three[Finley, Nowitzi, and Jamison] lit up the scorebaord. I told myself that we just have to be patient, don't panic and everything will be fine."
Fortunately, the score was all tied up 154 at the end of regulation In overtime, the Mavs went ahead again by 6 but the Lakers crawled back in. Nowitzki fouled out toward the end of OT.
The Voice of the Player,
Marty 'Ice' Elwood: "We got a couple of breaks down the stretch and Brian got his rhythm back. We're going home still beating."
Note: In one of the strangest series ever where no team has yet to win on their homecourt, the Lakers hope to break that pattern this upcoming tuesday night.
Game 7: DAL @ LAL Lakers Lose 179-181 OT High Scorer: Michael Finley (61)
ReCap: In overtime, Spike Faulk had the opportunity to make the game winner behind the arc but time expired while double-faking the Mav defense.
But in the end, there will be no balloons falling from the Staples Center ceiling this year.
The Voice of the Player,
Spike 'Deadeye' Faulk(In response to the last play in overtime): "Man, I just don't know what to say. I knew I had to jack it up quick…some reason, just didn't feel right. So, adjusted just to get a better view and like that we're not going to the Finals. Yeh it does hurt…feel like I let my team down."
The Voice of the Player,
Little H: "Well, as team captain, I have to commend Dallas and yeh, despite the outcome, it was a heckuva series. I just wish we had something for our fans to cheer about right now...let's face it, how long have Dallas' Big Three been together, 9 years? That's an amazing stat within itself and yeh, they understand each other's games telepathically and in some spurts it showed. Then add to that Jamison, man, that's too much fire power.
…we're a young team, and I think these last three years we've been getting by from our own individual talent and been fortunate. If anything this series taught me was the need for us to become more of a team like those guys. I thank our fans for being so great these last three championships and we'll get'em next year…thanks."
