I'm trying to edit a cyberface; I want to put braids on its head. I took Allen Iverson's braids from png0005, and when I tried to append it to my cf using Blender, it worked.

I remember seeing a thread wherein it's said that you need to match the number of vertices from your original cf and your edited one. I'm just not sure why that is the case. And another thing: how do some editors place masks on some player cf's? Doesn't that modify the number of vertices the 3D model has? I know it's possible, and I'm planning to use the same technique to add the braids to my cyberface.
