Very strong month there. Liking that Noah is putting up his usual good assist numbers.

Exceeding expectations without Derrick Rose. (Y) Pretty odd that Noah is only averaging 1 block a game (unless that's a typo); you'd think he'd average at least a little over two.

Linsanity!

Race to the MVP: The Resurgence of the NBA Big Men
By Steve Brooks, NBA.com
Posted Dec 31 2012 08:31PM

Happy Holidays and welcome back to another edition of our monthly MVP rankings.

As we approach the end of the calender year and the end of the football season, this is what many people deem as the unofficial start to the NBA season.

In recent years, there has been a trend of the NBA shifting to become a more guard dominant league, with guys like Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson, and so forth, the game has been speeding up and the number of dominating big men have diminished as most 7 footers are drifting out towards the three point line instead of playing like they did back in the day.

Well, so far this past month, we got a little taste of the past with some of the best big men basketball we've seen in a while from all around the league as a whole, and it is reflected here on the Race as 4 bigs crash their way into the fold, led by the Utah Jazz' Al Jefferson.

The fifth newcomer this month, is a guard, but he's no less "big" either, as Linsanity has seemingly re-emerged in Houston with Jeremy Lin putting up eye-popping numbers and leading the struggling, Harden-less Rockets to victories.

Of course, not all is new, and the top three were able to regain their spots with solid, if not dominating play, in the last month of 2012. Below are this month's rankings.

Cheers Mark, Noah really is a great playmaker in the high post. I find it easy to set up some half court stuff with him (Y)

Yeah it's not a typo and insanely weird, I might have to tinker with the sliders a bit more cause neither teams are getting a lot of blocks in games even though the blocks slider is at 90....Linsanity is back!

I think try tweaking the vertical slider, also changing the tendencies could help.

Man shocked at Ayon's numbers! Guess Vucci-Mane must not be getting the starting nod.

Would that be tweaking it up or down?

Yeah they went with Ayon instead of Vucevic....and I must say I still have double takes whenever I see Ayon's numbers in the leaderboards...

Lower the vertical sliders.

Seeing Ayon on there just isn't right, you should have put someone else, anyone else. :D

You reckon lower the sliders to increase blocks? I found it helped increasing my vertical as my players were then getting higher (although it needs more tweaking as Udrih had 3 blocks for me on the other teams PG)

I lowered the vertical slider to increase rebounds for guys like Asik, who I was troubling getting any rebounds with Harden, Parsons and even Lin grabbing all of them.

I have the blocks at about 85, this way I can get like 5-6 blocks a game.

Ah ok, interesting, I do find Vucci is quite hard to get them with even though his rebounding rating is very high. Will try that out, thanks.

MVP is always either LeBron or KD. LeBron because his overall is 99. KD... I don't really know, it actually surprises me when he wins it.

Wow, Gustavo Ayon, are you kidding me? Good month for your Bulls. I like how Deng's efficicency has not really taken a hit despite being your first option. Noah in the R2MVP is strange to see but he is backing it up. If you could somehow get him to be more efficient scoring the ball, he'd be a killer.

Decent presentation as always (Y)

Cheers for the tips Martti., and Mark., will definitely try tweaking it.

I'm surprised at how "bad" Durant's numbers are in my game. Westbrook is beating him in most categories :o

Cheers for the praise man, and yeah, my reaction exactly when I saw Ayon dominating
As for Deng, I tend to draw up a lot of easy mid range shots or cuts for him in the half court so yeah it's pretty efficient. Noah's dominating on both ends for me right now and definitely is backing up that hype. Scoring wise, his lower FG% is due to me taking a lot of elbow jumpers with him when the passing lanes run out. So far he hasn't really hit a lot of them unfortunately :?

Wade, Lebron dominates as Heat rout Bulls
Game Story | Box Score | Team Stats | Player of the Game

Image
This windmill dunk in traffic is an example of how badly Miami dominated the visitors tonight

Miami, FL -- So far this season, the talk of the league has been the surge of the Utah Jazz, the Knicks’ dominance, and the Bulls’ surprisingly good record despite playing without Derrick Rose.

Somehow, everybody is forgetting about the defending champions, who also hold the league’s best record so far.

Against the visiting Bulls on National TV, Lebron and company made sure they remembered.

To make a long story short, James and Wade combined for 54 points and 22 assists as the Heat ran the Bulls out of the building with a crushing 112-96 victory.

Chicago put up a decent fight in the first half, but Lebron and D-Wade went off in the third, leading the Heat to a 32-18 third quarter, and the rest was history.

Chris Bosh added 18 points and 8 rebounds, while Ray Allen dropped 15 points and 7 dimes as Miami shot over 53% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc, while racking up an astonishing 38 assists in an offensive exhibition over the league’s best defensive team in Chicago.

With their win, the Miami Heat rise to 25-6 and, despite it being January, looks to have all but locked up the Eastern Conference top seed.

More importantly, they're looking like a team that's poised to defend their championship.

"We all had a vision of how this team was going to really operate together, but there is no limit," Chris Bosh said. "We can continue to get better. We can continue to play better together. Our defense can continue to improve. If we want to win in the postseason, it's going to have to."

The Bulls were led by Joakim Noah, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort. Taj Gibson came off the bench to add 10 points and 13 boards of his own, and marked the Bulls’ lone spotlight of the game – rebounding.

Chicago, the league’s top rebounding team, out-hustled the Heat on the glass and managed to contain them in transition.

It was just their lack of offense that spelled their doom, as the Bulls shot just 43% from the field.

“We just couldn’t buy a bucket, it’s frustrating to see the offense being so stagnate” Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said, “We’ve got to move the ball better and capitalize on our chances at a more efficient rate”

The Bulls now fall to 21-11, still good enough for second place in the Eastern Conference, but the difference between the Heat and the Bulls might just be too big to overcome without their superstar point guard Derrick Rose.

Rose would be the only way you can beat the Heat. Thought that maybe Deng could use his defensive ability to shut down Lebron a bit.

Wade and LeBron are even more unstoppable in 2K13 then they are IRL.

Was really hoping Rose would return against Miami, perfect time, but it looks more like it that he won't return this season at all.

Yeah my complete lack of offense just kills my ability to defend as well cause they can get out in transition and score before my half court D is set....

They are indeed..

I actually don't mind him sitting out the season IRL. Really can't compare him with Rubio and Shumpert cause he's way more athletic and explosive than those two and even those two are still recovering on the fly. DRose's play style will make it worse if it's not 100% both physically and mentally. With a proper training camp next season I'm predicting the return of the MVP caliber Rose ala Adrian Peterson. (Y)
