Martti., Not if the Bobcats have anything to say about it. :)

Valor, Right now the Knicks have Lin, Millsap and not much else. For the story's sake, let's say Isiah was rehired.

badreligionau, I'm hoping for that as well (because the Lakers and Thunder are scarier). I think they're running a starting five of George Hill (re-acquired), you, last year's rookie of the year, Melo and Martti. Would love to have your guy if not for my no-NLSC'ers on my team policy.

March 2015 In Review

Image Image

Record: 47-25 (11-3) | 2nd in conference, 1st in division

March was the best month in Bobcats history as they went 11-3, securing a playoff berth and a franchise record in wins (47 and counting). In addition, Kevin Love became the first Bobcat to win conference player of the month honors! Other than a tough loss to the conference leading Pistons, the month was immensely successful, and Charlotte will hope to hold off the Indiana Pacers for the #2 seed and homecourt advantage for the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Kemba Walker is hobbled by a bruised tailbone, but the Bobcats enter the season's final month with an otherwise injury-free lineup going into the playoffs. This team definitely has its sights set on more than just the first playoff win in franchise history.

Happy 2K13 release date everybody, Thanks for the 10,000 views. :) I've finished out the regular season and am playing through the playoffs now and have some recaps backlogged. I plan to play out the post-season than GM a couple years and post some sparse coverage of that and how your players pan out.

I'll save the shout-outs for later, but thanks for following, and GOOOOOO BOBCATS!

April 2015 In Review/End Of Season

Team Record: 53-29 (6-4) | 1st in division, 3rd in conference

Image Image

Charlotte finished the NBA regular season by losing three of their last four games to land the third seed in the playoffs and a first round playoff date with the Brooklyn Nets. In the final game of the season, Kevin Love played just 21 minutes and they lost to the 76ers, who moved up to fifth with the win. Bill Simmons criticized the Bobcats, saying they tanked the game to avoid facing the Miami Heat (who swept Charlotte in the first round last season).

Conversy aside, 53-29 is good for the best record in franchise history and the team's first division title. They will hope for more than just to win their first playoff game as Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and the Brooklyn Nets await.

I was right about 2K13, no? Haven't got my copy yet, hopefully get mine today. I played 2K12 with mate the other day & then immediately after played 2K13 demo. There is NO going back. I agree that 2K is best in odd years, 2K7, 2K9, 2K11 & now 2K13. That might bode well for EA next year

Absolutely. Scoring is way too high and I'll need sliders and a good roster before it's association ready but it's a lot of fun. Definitely agree about odd numbered 2k's. Very excited about 2k13.

Haven't tuned in for a while, but only just caught up. Though very unrealistic, but it's great to see you turn the Bobcats around. (Y) The acquisition of Kevin Love was the major turning point, he's played pretty darn well. Congrats on the franchise record in wins, and good luck in the playoffs.

Also good to see my player getting traded to New Orleans turned out well.

Just had a quick go at 2K13 and...damn it's a big adjustment and learning process with the controls, but gameplay seems awesome so far. I might wrap up my asso and start a 2k13 one once a solid roster and slider sets come out. Bad thing about it is the PC version doesn't have a lot of the stuff consoles have, but I can live with that :)

Love how I'm 5th in the league in scoring and my Warriors are in the Playoffs, hopefully we can pull off the upset on the Clips :P Gonna be an interesting series for you as well with the Nets, good luck (Y)

NBA Playoffs: Cats v. Nets - Games 1 & 2

Image

Game 1:

Brooks Carves Up Bobcats, Carries Them To Blowout Win
Brooklyn 104, Charlotte 83

The sold-out home crowd in Charlotte was shocked as the Bobcats were blown out in the much-hyped playoff opener. Having no answer for overlooked guard MarShon Brooks, Brooklyn opened up a double digit lead in the second quarter and Charlotte never could stay in it. Despite a great game from Bradley Beal, Charlotte's offense was awful, and their defense wasn't much better.

Nets lead 1-0. - M. Brooks: 26 pts, 4 asts, 9-13 FG | B. Beal: 19 pts, 6 asts, 4 rebs

Game 2:

Bobcats Fall Apart In Fourth, Trail 2-0
Brooklyn 107, Charlotte 101

Charlotte's record in playoff games is now 0-10 as the Brooklyn Nets have taken both games on the road to go home up 2-0. The Bobcats looked like they had full control for most of the game, but their defense unraveled in the fourth quarter as they allowed the Nets 35 points and fell 107-101. "We're still going to win but this is really *expletive* frustrating", commented Charlotte coach Frank Vogel on the loss. They now must win two games on Brooklyn to win this series.

Nets lead 2-0. - B. Lopez: 21 pts, 8 rebs | K. Love: 17 pts, 11 rebs, 6-17 FG

After riding the pine for several seasons in Houston, the Euro big man has established himself as a very solid player in this league. While the Rockets themselves suffered a disappointing season, Motiejunas was the diamond in the rough all year. Guard Ray Cer of the Toronto Raptors finished second in voting.

Chris Hov Is Your 2014-15 Rookie of the Year

Missing 15 games and facing a tough challenge from Cavs forward Gheorghe Bacu, NBA all-star and Nuggets guard Chris Hov takes home rookie of the year honors. Hov enjoyed a sensational season, and vows to return the Nuggets to the playoffs next season.

Any changes to the Nets, or are they just the D-Will, Brooks, G-Wall, Humphries and Lopez team?

EDIT: Or do they have Joe Johnson? Then I can see why you're down 0-2, though without him they're good too.

On paper, we should be kicking their asses, but Brooks and Lopez have been hard to stop. Basically their 11-12 starting 5 with last year's #1 pick off the bench.

NBA Playoffs: Bobcats vs. Nets: Games 3 & 4

Game 3:

Bobcats Take Must-Win Game 3 Behind Beal's 32
Charlotte 110, Brooklyn 99

Charlotte avoids the untenable deficit of 0-3 with a big win in Brooklyn. Bradley Beal outdueled MarShon Brooks with a playoff career high 32 points. Bobcats fans were nervous as the team trailed by 8 going into the half. Fortunately, Beal caught fire and Love was able to score inside in the pivotal third quarter. After the game, a stern faced Frank Vogel said "this game doesn't mean anything if we don't get the next one".

Nets lead 2-1. - B. Beal: 32 pts, 4 asts, 3 rebs, 12-19 FG | MarShon Brooks: 25 pts, 5 asts

Game 4:

Nets Hold Off Late Run To Take 3-1 Lead
Brooklyn 103, Charlotte 99

Charlotte hoped to swing momentum back in their favor in the crucial game 4 to return home with a knotted series. Brook Lopez and the Nets had different plans. Brooklyn dominated the first quarter, 32-19, and controlled most of the game. Despite Kevin Love's efforts to get Charlotte the lead, they never would. A pair of late threes by Damian Lillard made it a game, but the Nets were able to sink their free throws late and take a commanding 3-1 series lead. After the game, Frank Vogel: "See? I told you Game 3 didn't mean anything."

Nets lead 3-1. - B. Lopez: 27 pts, 7 rebs, 3 blks, 8-10 FG | K. Love: 24 pts, 13 rebs

Kevin Durant Wins 2015 Defensive Player of the Year Award

Image

Yeah, I'm as surprised as you are. The Thunder are a top 5 defensive squad and have the #1 seed in the NBA playoffs. However, most would think that if anyone on that team would win this award, it would be Serge Ibaka. Nonetheless, with Dwight Howard having lost a step, this award is once again up for grabs and Durant has worked on his defense every year in this league.

The 2015 Coach of the Year Is... Dwight T

Image

When Stan Van Gundy was fired from the Orlando Magic after a tumultuous 2011-12 season, he kind of lost it. After his job as an ESPN analyst fell through, the former coach became a recluse and in a baffling act, changed his name to Dwight T. That is no typo. However, that didn't stop the San Antonio Spurs from hiring him after the legendary Gregg Popovich's retirement. Van Gun- I mean, T has done a successful job with the Spurs, who have become contenders with the additions of Carmelo Anthony and Kenny Young.

NBA Playoffs: BKN @ CHA Games 5 & 6

Game 5:

Image

Bobcats Survive Game 5 With Dominant Win
Charlotte 95, Brooklyn 81

Thanks to a sensational game from Luol Deng, the Bobcats survive to play another day, comfortably defeating the Nets 95-81. Charlotte came out on fire in the first quarter and never looked back. Brooklyn was never able to make a run as their shots weren't falling. They shot a measly 35% from the field and made just 2 of their 17 three point attempts. The Nets' series lead is now 3-2 as the series shifts to Brooklyn for a huge game 6.

Andrea Bargnani accepted his sixth man of the year trophy in front of the home crowd, almost exactly a year after Wilson Chandler did so in game 3 against the Heat last season.

Nets lead 3-2. - Luol Deng: 29 pts, 8 rebs, 5 asts, 12-17 FG | Deron Williams: 23 pts, 8 asts, 9-22 FG

Game 6:

Image

Kevin Love Wills Bobcats To Force Game 7
Charlotte 99, Nets 92

The stakes were high for both teams as the Charlotte Bobcats looked to stave off elimination and force a game 7 on their home court. Kevin Love was ready from the get-go, scoring 16 of his playoff career high 46 points (on 16-22 shooting) in the first quarter. The game was closely fought, with neither team getting much from their bench but Brook Lopez kept Brooklyn in it, with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Unfortunately for the Nets, a late run fell short as game 7 will be played.

Series tied 3-3. - Kevin Love: 46 pts, 7 rebs, 16-22 FG, 14-16 FT | Brook Lopez: 25 pts, 10 rebs

----------

Andrea Bargnani Wins 2014-15 Sixth Man Of The Year Award

Image

Some thought the Bobcats were crazy to "bench" all-star Andrea Bargnani. Bargnani has thrived in his sixth man role, shooting at the most efficient clip of his while leading all bench scorers by a mile. This award joins Bargnani's 2012-13 Most Improved Player award in his trophy case.

MVP: Kevin Durant

Image

The defensive player of the year and best player on the league's best team, Durant ends LeBron's three year reign as MVP to win the Maurice Podoloff trophy. Durant put up huge numbers all season, with only Derrick Rose and LeBron James putting up comparable stats (but on much worse teams). He will have his hands full however, with sidekick Russell Westbrook out for possibly the whole playoffs with a broken jaw. He will receive the hardware before game 1 against the Spurs in the conference semifinals.

Bobcats' Size Too Much As Charlotte Escapes to Round 2
Charlotte 98, Brooklyn 94

The Charlotte Bobcats have won their first playoff series. After trailing 3 games to 1, the 'Cats finally figured out how to beat the Nets and didn't look back. In a game that saw the Nets lead most of the first half, courtest of the continued dominance of Brook Lopez and cold shooting by Kevin Love. The game turned around in the third quarter, in which Charlotte buckled down on defense. Brooklyn came out on fire in the fourth, but JaVale McGee earned the game ball, scoring 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to help hold off the Nets and win the series.

The Bobcats will face the Indiana Pacers in the next round. The Pacers defeated the Heat in six games and will have homecourt advantage in that series. Coach Frank Vogel is confident in his team's chances. "The first few games of this series - it doesn't matter anymore. We're on a three game winning streak and it's 0-0 again. I'm proud of this team."

Nice game 7 win! :chug: Good luck against the dirty Pacers and go to the conference finals! (Y)

On the other hand, totally hyped for the matchup against Kobe

Awesome comeback; I hope this will be a deep playoff run, since I'm not ready for this story to end yet :P

It'd suck if I'm missing out on games because of a coach's decision. No wonder Dwight Howard wanted to get him fired

Valor, We were robbed yet again of a hallway series, but Lai vs. Kobe should be a marquee match-up. Luckily for you guys, the Lakers basically have their 11-12 roster.

Martti., Yeah, I could see you missing the first series, but Westbrook is also hurt.

badreligionau, Thanks man. We're at the mercy of the sim engine because 2K12 is no longer fun, but second round coverage starts tomorrow and I plan on GM'ing through the next season or two.

Baffled and annoyed by your DNP. You're healthy and listed as sixth man so I don't know what T is thinking.

Eastern Conference Semifinals: Games 1 & 2

Game 1:

Bobcats Drop 67 In First Half, Dominate Game 1
Charlotte 120, Indiana 103

Image

In a game that was all offense, Charlotte came out on top big time, taking a 67-50 halftime lead and never looking back. Kevin Love had a productive 15 and 9 despite foul trouble, but Bargnani's playoff career high 13 boards filled the void while Kemba Walker and Brad Beal had big games.

After the game, Pacers star Amar'e Stoudemire (who had 16 points and 6 boards) left the game without speaking to reporters and reportedly had to be restrained from punching the fire extinguisher glass. With the win, the Bobcats take a 1-0 series lead and steal homecourt advantage from Indiana.

CHA 38 29 24 29 | 120 - Beal: 24/3/3; Walker: 19/2/5; Bargnani: 14/13/1
IND 31 19 31 22 | 103 - George: 21/3/3; Hibbert: 14/11/1; Lawson: 10/3/8

Bobcats lead series 1-0.

Game 2:

Bobcats Come Out Flat In Third As Pacers Tie Series
Indiana 110, Charlotte 99

After the game 1 loss, the Pacers went back to the drawing board and introduced a new strategy: playing defense. As a result, the Pacers enjoyed a solid second half and outplayed Charlotte across the board. With Brad Beal struggling with his shot (2-10) and Love relatively quiet, Indiana was able to out-gun Charlotte. Amar'e led the way with 22 points and 8 rebounds.

With the series all knotted up, the focus shifts to Charlotte for games 3 and 4. After the game, Javale McGee (who was a real big help with 2 points and 5 rebounds), promised that the team would close out the series in game 4, after being restrained by the same security that stopped Stoudemire from the fire extinguisher.

CHA 25 31 16 27 | 99 - Bargnani: 18/5/1, 7-9 FG; Deng: 15/7/4 stls; Love: 15/10/0
IND 27 29 26 28 | 110 - Stoudemire: 22/8/3; A. Randolph: 19/5/0; Stuckey: 19/2/7

Series tied 1-1.
