what the hell, just learned about this after checking the game. does this mean we can't have home and away shoes like last year? they shouldn't have removed the shoe feature in the edit player screen...

EDIT: all I can see in the main game folder are shoexxxx and nshoexxxx. Without a way to edit the home & away colors in the edit player screen, I think shoe modders like me are left without a job in 2K13.

Is it possible to edit shoes on ps3 and xbox 360?

I thinks it's the same with the PC version. You won't have the option to assign custom colors to home/away shoes.
Another thing really annoying about this is that if we are stuck with using the team colors, if you change it in the roster whether thru hex or Reditor it means that it also affects the colorway of our shoes. This just sucks.

maybe for 2k13, we will just have to go with Non-RGB shoes since we can't update them. Some of the shoes in 2K13 are Black no matter what like a few of the Jordans don't change between Home and Away. Also wondering if there is "Pshoe" bit in the roster files like in 2K12, that is set to zero for everyone and has to be set to one to enable Pshoes. just hoping...

If you haven't checked, there's not even a "pshoe" file in the main folder.

It's not even that big of a deal to me, all we need now though is a list of which shoes have changable colors

Just checked the shoexxxx.iff files, looks like the shoe texture is now in bmp and it's only 128x128 (while the bump map is still in dds 256x256)! the texture is kinda blurry too and it's not using RGB like past NBA 2K's. Looks like shoe modding will be a pain in the arse. Still not sure if we can add new shoes without overwriting the default ones since we can't use pshoes anymore.

We can replace, but I don't see adding shoes possible.
The shoexxxx.iff file just contains the color ways and alpha, would be nice if it was 1024x1024. The textures are in nshoe_editor_xxx.iff. I'm trying to learn, so I try to fix the colorway on Air Max Penny, but having trouble, colors keep bleeding.

Texture 12 is giving me problems, when I remove it the shoe kinda works, but the main shoe color is now the connect with lining color.

This is texture 12 in nshoe_editor_1168, I need to add the texture on the inside side shoe and the heel. Every attempt so far I get the bleeding. Maybe i'll figure it out soon.

I don't see HD shoes happening unless we can hex edit those 2 shoe files. But this seems like too much work, last few years we just had to paint the shoe. Now to create a shoe we have to deal with 30 textures.

30 textures? man that's cruel.
I also looked if we can replace the created shoes in "shoe creator" but looks like we can't. The Shoes folder contains a shoedata.dat, the shoe files created aren't .iff files (it shoes that it's file type is "file"?) that we used to have when we create NikeID shoes in NBA 2K12.

Way to take the fun away from us 2k

Noticed that too

So I was checking out the shoes and saw that a new one was added which was the Melo M8 advance.

Noticed that it is missing the jumpman logo on the side and the tongue logo is supposed to be Melo's "M" logo. So I wanted to try if I can mod it but I'm having a difficult time finding where the new shoes file is.
It is not in the Online Data folder (where new shoes in 2K12 were downloaded) and I've also found nothing new in my shoes folder. I'm not sure where it is located. Can someone help? So I can try if I can mod this one. Thanks in advance....

Just read over at OS forum that there is a limit of 50 for edited/created/NikeID shoes. Man, things just keeps getting better and better...

What the hell is wrong with you 2K!

Sup homicide, I'm with you that this year all this is a pain in the ass...If I were on PC I'd go back to 2K12 for sure, lol!
Don't know if this is even possible in PC, but last year I was able to use shoe custom colors different to those we had in the palette by hex editing them in the file. In 2k12 360 file structure, next to where CF IDs were located, we had the possibility to edit team colors for that player shoe, and the shoe model and brand.
We had this structure near the player CF ID: FF XX XX XX (team color 1) FF XX XX XX (team color 2) FF XX XX XX (base color) FF XX XX XX (base color away) FF XX XX XX (team color 2 away) FF XX XX XX (team color 1 away) XX XX (shoe model) XX (shoe brand). I've seen structures similar to this in this year file, so if we were able to modify them, we'd be able to get shoe colors different to those linked to the team colors. I'm trying to research on this all but it's nearly impossible for me to place where a concrete player CF ID is located in the file, so the rest is basically impossible...
If you guys want to help me, we maybe can get a level of customization better than the sh1tty we have now.

Oh, I thought team colors of the shoe was the same as the team colors of the gears. I have tried hex editing & managed to hex edit team color of gears, head bands, socks & collars in 2K12 and I saw those kind of structures.
so what we need to do first is look for the CF ID in the roster file right?

Yes if the file structure is still similar to last year's (and I think it is for what I've seen)
Shoe and team colors are the same if you don't hex edit shoe colors. Basically shoe colors are configured default as: base (team in which the player plays shoe color) team 1 (team in which the player plays team1 color) and team 2 (team in which the player plays team 2 color). The point is that you can replace those default colors with the ones you want (at least last year you could), so you could customize any player shoe color in hex without using "custom colors" in the game.
Team color menu for gear, shoes, collars was placed in the file in the same place than uniforms (in 360); while shoe color menu was near where the player CF ID was in the .ros file.
Hope this all makes sense...
