Overvall gameplay really looks same. But there were some small details that showed, that they have been working on trying to improve it. All in all, no hope has died for me after watching this video. Still can`t wait for the game.

This is too bad, I thought there would be some kind of huge gameplay revolution with the new dribbling and collisions, but it looks like the same ol' 2K gameplay with different animations. I would go as far to say the new animations are too good for 2K's gameplay, since it almost seemed like the dribbling and collisions were too quick for the game to catch up.

Seeing Dwight Howard get shot from a sniper multiple times looked weird, both times he hit the floor I do not think there was enough contact to warrant it.

but the animations were nice, and the gameplay looked sim as sim will be in the eyes of simnation so w/e, I can't wait to arcade the hell out of this game.

I like the fact that in one instance where Bosh grabs the defensive rebound and gives it to Wade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1zQiu5_ ... page#t=97s) Chalmer sprints forward for a fast break instead of waiting for the ball as it was always in NBA 2k12. PG was always waiting for the ball after a defensive rebound was made.

Some positives and some negatives there, but I'm not drawing any conclusions until I see what the roster and slider modders can come up with. Sure, some of the game's limitations can't be overcome even with those changes, but retail 2K12 and the one I have set-up right now is a whole different story.

I'm not too discouraged. I liked 2K12, so I'll take 2K12 with the improvements I've seen so far. Some of the new overlay stats are really nice, such as LeBron's career highs in the past year. Hope those aren't hardcoded and only show first season, but that they're dynamic and that they would be there in an Association's 2nd and later seasons.

One of the things that I really liked, got back to that moment several times. The animation looked very realistic.

To add to eda's point, I really like the animation variety and fluidity which looks improved for the most part again this year. Posted-up players seem more natural in their movement, and having full control via LS + RS is going to allow for much more variety in post moves.

Straight off the bat the first thing that stood out to me is how similar it looks to 2k12. As people have already said, it's basically a 2k12 b. It's like "ah those old familiar animations, yep". I started watching this video feeling a little disenchanted. The more i watched though, the less i thought about 2k12, and the more i starting judging it from an overall perspective as if i'd never played a basketball game before in my life. And holy moly it looks good! It looks like it feels more like a real NBA game. On one hand i wish we got this game last year. On the other hand it looks really good. And it's nice to see somebody playing who doesn't play the game like a retard.

I'm currently procrastinating from a major assignment, so i'm gonna pick this video apart...

Positives: Dribbling is better and more varied. Passing looks better. LeBron plays heaps like lebron. Kobe's animations look sexy. Isolating looks like it makes way more sense. Player physics seem a bit more realistic with the way players drive to the basket. Pump fakes look better. Pau played soft just like in real life. That move at 6:10 is fucking amazing.

Some negatives: Net physics do look pretty bad. I wonder if they'll release it like that or if they've got more work to do? Players faces look shit, especially lebron's. If there's one thing EA are better at, it's cyberfaces. It's not a big problem for us PC users though obviously. I don't like the score overlay, it's not realistic at all. But again, doesn't matter for PC users. Post play looks the same. Rebounding looks the same. That animation where players run slowly at first while they build up momentum is still there, and while that's good in practicality, i'm just really sick of seeing it. I wish they tweaked it a bit. Ball physics are the same. No problem with that i'm just not looking forward to seeing those physics all over again for another year. You can definitely tell 2k have really gone by that mantra - "well we think the fans want more of the same".

Overall the game looks amazing. It looks like it feels like a real NBA game. But whether i'm prepared to go another year with all those familiar animations again is another story. I hope NBA Live 13 is atleast DECENT, just for variety sake. I'm at the end of my tether - I need a change from 2k, as good as it is.

Looking at the bright side of the negative (huh?), atleast 2k don't do what EA used to do - start fresh on the game every year; keep hitting 'reset'. To 2k's credit, they BUILD and improve on every single game year in year out. I just wish i discovered NBA games for the first time this year, this game would blow my mind.

Seeing Nash drain that contested 3 with the shot clock running down made me sigh. That was one of my biggest peeves about 2K12, especially in MyPlayer mode. I'd say about 85% of the time, the opposing team would just dribble/pass until the shot clock was about to run out and then launch a shot (usually a 3) and almost all the time...it would go in. Yesterday I had Greg Monroe drain 2 threes this way. I had to laugh.

That could be just a lucky three, but if shot clock cheese still exists it's not going to make anyone happy. Even if they tune the AI to shoot earlier which is good, cheese punishes good defense. I still like the way 2K11 looks over this graphic style, but the AI looks better then 2K12's. I'm really hating that LeBron topic the commentary covered, last time I checked LeBron never openly admitted what he did from Cleveland to Miami was horrible (including that 7-8 championship promise party they had). Other then that it's looking better from what 2K12 was.

I'm am planning on getting the game for xbox during black friday or when it is on sale.

But there is more to my comment, I just like to make little snarky remarks The bigger picture is 2k's graphics and textures and how much they suck. And every year I hope that they make a giant improvement but they don't. Even player face models...they tweak them, we do side by side from previous year, they seem better, but in the end they still suck.

I don't care if I sound like a broken record, but there needs to be more demand for better graphics and textures. Instead of people going on twitter say, I need more billboards for my player or I want my guy to wear earings. How about telling them to think about putting in a HD texture pack, fixing the court wood textures, making legit player face models, I could go on and on.

Again, I played NBA Live 10 a month or so ago on the xbox, just to see how the graphics are. Most of the game was completely sh!t (don't thell jaosming, last thing we all need is another 20 minute segment of the podcast where he makes every last possible excuse for nba live and why it sucks so bad) but the court textures were extremely well done. The colors were spot on. And the jerseys color and designs were nice. So if NBA Live can clearly get something right, it should be simple for 2k. Right? I mean this isn't rocket science.

So Steve Nash can't hit 3's? Was that the only buzzer beater? So, since it was cheese before and now that it happens once in a video, and if it ever happens again, it's cheese. Why not make it like hockey, if the ball doesn't go through the hoop by the time the shot clock buzzer sounds, it's a turnover. There you go, no cheese, no buzzer beaters.
I like the trot up court by the ballhandler when no defender is near. It gives the casual nature of bringing the ball up without the slow skipping hops that they do sometimes.\
To me it looks like putting the dribble moves on the right stick finally gave them the look that they needed. Other than the fact that most of their crossovers are done incorrectly by dribbling the ball in front instead of actually crossing it over and dribbling it on the opposite side(fundamentals, people), it makes the animations and the gamer's intention look more realistic when looking at how they are attacking their defender. In the past 2K's, it was difficult to find that perfect angle and timing to get that good crossover to both look good and be effective.
The movement on offense looked sporadic. It looked like there was intentions behind it, but too many times like 2K12 did the cpu controlled teammates just ignore that you were right next to them and some clumping of players happened as certain sequences didn't play out organically. I guess that's the price we pay for having a smooth realistic looking game. Was it 2K10 where they used the tendencies to get players to come off screens, spot up, iso, and post up on their own when you didn't call plays? Didn't they react to the ballhandler coming close to them by making a cut or moving to create space? It's been a couple years, I am not quite sure.
Jerseys still look bad. Shoulder straps are not close enough to the neck, and the shorts are too long. They still hover above the body, I'm sure.

I noticed CPU Kobe getting open in a variety of ways, including a step back and a post up turn around.

The announcers are as bad as ever - often telling stories or making comments that have nothing to do with game. Kobe hit a turn around after posting his defender. The announcers said Kobe can hit shots from the perimeter with defenders running at him. He wasn't on the perimeter, and nobody was running at him.

I like it when they tangent off telling stories. It gives it more of a realistic feel, and it's a refreshing change from the same old shit - "[player] passes the ball to [player]. [player] shoots, he scores! [team] is winning by [number] points. What a game."

For the console version, it seems that the graphics is either the same or a bit worse than 2k12 (lighting seems kinda dark), not that it matters to me (PC FTW). The gameplay however looks pretty much almost the same with new dribble moves here and there and new animations. I hope the hall of fame difficulty isnt as impossible as 2k12.
