Post All the Previews that came out today here

At the root of NBA 2K13 is the Virtual Currency, or VC, system. It's not explicitly named as experience points, but it has the same functionality. It turns nearly every element of 2K13 into a metagame, from the time you spend in online games to single-player seasons. You can use it for character customization, or for other elements.

You can use earned VC to buy different items, from the latest shoes to wear for street ball games to suits for your press conferences. All of your tweaks will show up in cutscenes throughout the game.

There are a variety of custom animations, from how he enters the arena to how he celebrates after an especially standout scoring moment.

a player/coach role that lets you completely dictate the play of the team based on your whims.

^One of the missing Signature Skills for MP?^
Twitter-like social media elements (without the Twitter branding) that offer feedback on your performance from fans, celebrities (Pauly D, among others, will fist pump his support for you), and real-life sports journalists, like Zach Harper.

Popularity has a strong influence on your ability to sway the locker room. We got a glimpse at the Meet with GM minigame, and according to your fanbase and team chemistry, you can have more clout when it comes to demanding coaching changes or getting good teammates more playtime. And if you're having problems enhancing your popularity and pull, you can always cash in some VC points to buy yourself social media boosters.

When you start a Quick Game, you'll sometimes be treated to a highlight reel of the team's last encounter, interspersed with footage from Jay-Z videos (we saw footage of Lakers vs. Heat spliced with "Onto the Next One"),

NBA 2K13 touts a fan-requested create-a-shoe feature

Plus, if you use 2K13's Nike ID integration, you can create a shoe in-game, send the blueprint to the Nike ID website, and order real-life shoes that both you and your custom avatar can wea

Total Sim Control that gives you far more sway over the games you choose to simulate over the course of a long season. Want Steve Nash to shoot more than Kobe? Want to ensure that your team plays the defense they would if you were playing a full game yourself? Now you can program those choices into the process. And, arguably the biggest addition? If you're not picking the game up on launch day, you can download all of the real-world statistics and injury data up to the day you start playing.

Better, before each game tips off, a music video by Jay-Z or one of the other featured artists plays to get you fired up for the game, mixed together with gameplay footage. A number of these are included, and they definitely spice up the presentation. Finally, he also requested that the background menus pulse in rhythm to whatever song is playing at a given time. I've seen this and...yep, it does that. Thanks Jay!

Pick up official, real-life team gear by adidas to don in blacktop pickup games. And in the Accessory Shop, grab gear like the adiZero Speedwrap ankle brace that has stat-modifying bonuses; in this case, a +2 boost to your on-ball defense.

from meeting with the GM to demand your coach be fired to taking your teammates out to dinner in order to receive a team chemistry/popularity boost. You can even do NBA Cares charity functions in order to win over more fans.

2K13's Shoe Creator is, essentially, the virtual shoe equivalent of Forza Motorsport 4's livery system. .... You can then upload those to the web, where other users can rate them.

This year the apparel extends beyond what you wear on the court for practice or on the blacktop. If you want to dress up for press conferences, you can save up for suits or luxury clothes. The team shop has real-life hats, shorts, t-shirts, and jerseys for you to choose from, and Visual Concepts plans to add more apparel as the season moves on. Some of the clothing items simply offer cosmetic changes, but others may give you stat boosts to make you a better player.

As you get more famous, opposing players may trash talk you, celebrities may name-drop you, and NBA legends may offer advice on how to reach the pinnacle of the sport.

If you’re acting selfishly or being a bigger man by squelching a perceived controversy, Kevin Harlan, Clark Kellogg, and Steve Kerr will discuss your off-court behavior during the game.

You also need to listen to your coach. If you take a 90-foot jump shot, he’ll tell you to stop being stupid. Try it again, and you may find yourself riding the pine.

Due to fan requests for the feature, this year you can jump right into a season with all of the current stats, player abilities, and injuries regardless of the calendar date. You could even start a new Association right before the playoffs are about to start.

Visual Concepts has made sure all of the rules from the new collective bargaining agreement are in the game. With the new CBA rules in place, Visual Concepts has revamped the team-building and trading logic.

God....
There will also be a special Celebrity Team, featuring Justin Bieber, DJ Pauly D, Bow Wow, Sean Kingston and Vinny Guadagnino amongst others. Bieber even came in for motion capture sessions, although his 6’4 frame in the game may be just a BIT exaggerated.

While you will still control your player in the My Career mode, My Player allows for the accentuated role playing elements to play their part in the game.
In My Player, you will have the option to edit your player’s look, playing style and abilities by purchasing new clothes and team gear using the new in-game currency.

Over 1,400 Clothing and Accessory options

My Team is officially NOT crew, but Ultimate Team
Another first for NBA 2K13 is the all-new My Team mode, which plays similarly to collectible card games we have seen in previous sports games. Users can buy packs of cards to create a team and take it online and earn more in-game currency to purchase better players and upgrades. The unique aspect of this mode is the integration with NBA Today and the way it will track players’ performance and adjust their price based on the track record. This mode is a nice addition for those who enjoy fantasy sports and/or stock-watching because of the player forecasting element involved.

Some really juicy information there. Nice.

- A lot of stuff you can do with the Meet the GM feature. Even ask for the coach to be fired? Hello Dwight Howards of the world!
- Not much information on how Association has been overhauled, but Total Sim Control allows people to have a lot more control over simulated games, which is a feature that has been asked for quite for some time.
- Shoe Creator sounds nice and really deeper than I would've thought. So many layers! And if the resulting shoes are higher quality than last year, we should receive no (valid) complaints this year. Even shoe modding will be easier with the amount of layers and designs and patters allowing people to avoid using Photoshop/Illustrator altogether, as much as possible.

 Am i perceiving this correctly? Are signature skills going to come in gold, silver, and bronze?! Could our wish be true?
Plus, the new Signature Skills moves (which were unveiled during our prior hands-on) extend into your player. The triple-tiered perk system ranges from having a sharper eye for three-pointers all the way up to a player/coach role that lets you completely dictate the play of the team based on your whims.

:o :?:

Yes, you can build your own kicks using different materials, colors, patterns, and more. Dozens of layers (45 of them, to be exact) let you highlight every detail you like. You can then upload those to the web, where other users can rate them. Want to go a step farther? Get this: the game syncs with the NikeID website and you can actually have your virtual shoe made real and shipped to your door.

Wow.

I wish they didn't spend so much time on the shoe factory, since if there's anything i could care less about in nba games - it's the shoes. But you gotta hand it to them, that is insane.

First, there's the whole Jay-Z thing. Visual Concepts proudly puts him forward as an "executive producer" on the game, but until now they've never explained what the hell that means. Besides giving him credit for getting Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley to sign on and be playable in the game (no, really; they claim Jay picked up the phone, said, "Get me Barkley and Pippen," and they called him back ASAP and reached an agreement to be included)

Huh. Didn't notice that. Wouldn't they have mentioned that in the dev video about sig skills though? Or is the "up to x points of bonus" related to the level of the skill the player has rather than ratings? Don't know if Gold/Silver/Bronze in the screenshot are the three tiers the preview is talking about.

I was asking for levelled sig skills rather than binary ones, so this is definitely good news for me (if it stands), as long as ratings affect sig skills along with the skill's level itself.

There's too much information on that screen to understand what's going on. It seems to be "Collection", whatever that means. It shows Raja Bell who has no signature skills, his letter ratings in main aspects of the game, there's some bars that I can't make out, and the player has a current value, a player salary (set to 0 for some reason), and then at the top there's probably something to do with the team. There's a total value (of all players?), 13 players in the roster, 3 injured... Players seem to be from different teams...

WAIT A MINUTE.

WAIT.

That's ULTIMATE TEAM!

Those bars that I can't make out seem similar to the horizontal one with the Jazz logo and "Raja Bell" on it, it's a collection of players where each one has a value, and up top is the team's total value, the amount of players, how many are injured, etc. Makes sense! So that's what MyTeam is... :P

I liked this:

Last year the teammate AI never understood what kind of player you were, whether it be a spot shooter or a post player. In the lead-up to NBA 2K13, an engineer spent two months developing a new recording system so the AI better recognizes your tendencies. If you post up a lot this year, your teammates start to funnel plays your direction. If you’re lingering along the perimeter waiting for a chance to showcase your long distance sniping skills, they know to kick the ball out to you if you have an open look.
No doubt taking inspir

I was just about to post that. Adaptive Teammate AI, love that. I wonder if they've improved the AI to be more adaptive to games as well, for example whether they'll start guarding the perimeter more if I'm draining consecutive 3-pointers.

And Meet the GM will take into account your status as well, so going to him early will probably get you a "Yeah, right, why not go practice some more son?" answer.

Agreed. Although, now that you can simulate, that should give you time to do both a little bit.

It sounds like there is almost too much in the game.

Fantastic news to come home to. Adaptive AI sounds promising, I can only assume that would carry over to the defensive end, where the CPU will adjust its' defense accordingly to your playstyle. I think what the info is saying is that your My Players tendencies will adjust more realistically to the way you are playing. Rather than being those random tendency stats based on purely your rating and player type (ie all-around, defensive, slasher etc.). This would make the most sense as then both your teammates, the opposing CPU, and your players stats in simulated games will be mostly consistent with the way you play. Again pure speculation but that's the way I would have gone about implementing it.

Jao you're bang on with the 'other' Signature Skill. Adjusting your teammates play via a signature skill seems like the best possible means of doing it. There are definitely persuasive players in the league who have a greater influence in the league, so I'm glad it's not exactly an 'automatic skill' or setting granted to every single My Player. Makes you work for it a little.

One of my minor complaints in the other thread was that 'My Player Buzz' from 2K12 had little meaning or value. Glad to see these popularity or media driven features actually have a purpose in affecting your decisions and influence on your GM and players. While still a minor mini-game within the game, it's something else to break up the constant grind of game-spend skill points-game-spend skill points, and sounds like it doesn't punish anyone not interested in the idea for not using the feature.

Create a shoe is cool, Ultimate team could be cool, but neither really my thing. Total sim control is maybe the biggest news to Association fans, as this is a necessity for anyone interested in taking on the true role of a coach. I mean there was coaching tendencies or play-style or w/e from years in the past. But they were never player specific, and ultimately fell to FastBreak vs Crash Boards, Outside vs Inside etc., and never really left the player with an actual feeling of impact or customization.

All in all it's nice to begin getting to the meatier features or additions to the game. Im drunk.

Give Andrew some credit, posted about the NY Post preview in the main page before we even got to discussing it in the Forum. :P

http://www.nba-live.com/nba-2k13-previe ... r-ny-post/

Pre-draft interviews are more in-depth this year, per that preview as well. I'd love it if that went both ways, if we could interview players as GMs in Association, ask them questions and have them answer depending on their personality and where they felt they'd fit best (using their "Play for Winner" attribute for example).

Oh my god! Finally some brilliant info... In another post I was ranting, how they fked up the online association mode in 2k12 and that 2k11 was actually better in online leagues, well they fixed it... Flex schedules, adjustable sliders and the option for an admin to actually cancel games. Finally we have a proper online association. :applaud:

I'm also very excited about the A.I. that adjusts according to your playstyle, loving that Raja Bell screen, they hyped me up good this time :)

BTW what do you guys think is? Surely it must be something other 2k Insider's roster updates... (from the GamesRadar link):

From my understanding before reading the NY Post preview, I'd say MyCareer was the combination of MyPlayer and everything else off-the-court. However, NY Post makes it seem like MyPlayer is all the shiznit, and MyCareer is a cut-down no-frills-no-bling version of MyPlayer, for those who just want to focus on their career on-the-court, and not so much everything else.

I'm not sure anymore, but the dev diary that's supposedly coming early next week (and the 3 videos) should clear things up.

The fact it's the NYPost should make it clear that only half they say has to do with what the Press Release they got said.

If I was a betting man, and I am, I'd bet Shadowgrins left leg below the knee that MyCareer and MyPlayer are within one another.
