When will we hear NBA Live 13 cover news and features news

I had optimism that they were doing something secret or it was part of their disruptive strategy to be quiet. However, that just doesn't make sense in business unless your product is incredibly unbelievable and you don't want anyone to get a chance to match it. That just seems too good to be true in this case, and most things like that are too good to be true. When you have a great product, you market it, which is the opposite of what EASports is doing with NBA Live 13. I think the silence is a bad sign.

I think you are right. Compared how EA pushed games like Mass Effect 3, SWtOR, Battlefield or their NHL series, it's really disturbing not to hear any news from the game.

It's not likely, they'll release the game in March, because EA releases sport sims around the point when season starts (or has just been started). Even Dec. would be too late in my opinion, but at least EA could hope to sell lots of copies around Christmas time.
Right now I think the game will be delayed until 2013-14.

If there is a postponement, I doubt it'd be that late too. I think it'd be November/December at the latest, before it's pushed back to 2013.

Do you shoot yourself into your knee before going for a marathon? EA would be very stupid to wait just because of Madden. Remember releases of NHL and NBA would nearly overlap as well. But as they adress mostly different peer groups it would be not that big issue...

I can remember NBA Elite being pushed to 2011 spring release, before getting cancelled.. But yeah, if they can't release it by the Christmas they are probably gonna cancel it again. Which would mean missing 3rd year in a row. That would get me worrying if they will ever release a new NBA game in the near future and that would be shame because NBA Live series introduced me to this genre and 2k could really use some competition..

They have to release it, imo. It would be detrimental to the EA Sports brand not to release it. We all know it won't compete with 2k13, but for future purposes and gaining ground for the next generation, they have to polish what they can release it, patch it, and continue with their plan.

If EA decides to cancel again, they would be showing some serious mis management issues after already restructuring their management around the same time Elite got canceled. They need to take the hit, show some faith in their decision to move the game to tiburon and continue developing towards the future other santo gain any ground in the basketball game genre.

EA cancelling the game would actually be worse than them releasing a faulty one. So if this simple logic is believed, why haven't they hinted anything let alone a about the cover of the game?

I still have faith. I tell myself constantly that I'd be fine without Live this year, but in my basketball heart, Live is the best thing in the history of basketball games. Live revolutionized the game, they started in what, 96? That's crazy! I'm aware 2K will be a better product, but Live needs to happen. If they hyped Live up this much, had an E3 showing, they wouldn't pull an Elite, would they? That might put the nail in the coffin for EA basketball.

As long as amazon.com says the game will be released on Dec. 31, I don't expect no earlier release date.

The official website still lists an October release. I'd be very surprised if it's released on New Year's Eve, it's not really an ideal time to release a video game.

I'd also be surprised if they cancelled it again. I too think they'll release whatever they've got and hope for the best; if there's potential there, they can identify what works and spend the next development cycle polishing it instead of starting over again. It's probably what they should have done with NBA Elite 11, weathered the bad reviews, taken note of what fans did like or felt had potential (if anything) and go from there.

I think it's what has to be done, too; they were able to discard the Elite moniker when its reputation was tarnished but there's history to the NBA Live name. Granted, it's not all positive history but returning to the NBA Live name did generate some excitement and was a good move after what happened with Elite. Whatever happens I think they should stick with the NBA Live branding at this point, though it'll take a big hit if 13 is cancelled. So again, I'm thinking it'll be released, in some form and with the hopes that the scores will be decent and any positives and potential will be apparent.

dates like that are placeholders, its amazon's way of saying it will be out in 2012 but we dont know when

I don't expect the release to happen at Dec. 31 as this seems to be a fictional date.
But as I said, I don't think release date will be long before Dec. 31.

The only thing that is slightly interesting about that is that the video was released and in it, the default home team was the Clippers.
